PAS claims Najib blundered in justifying “goodwill payment”

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak may have made a blunder when he claimed that Kelantan has no right to ask for royalty given that oil was extracted beyond the state’s waters in Parliament yesterday.

Najib had told Parliament that Kelantan could only demand for royalty if oil was extracted within three nautical miles of its coastline.

But PAS leaders said today that this meant Sabah and Sarawak, where oil is extracted beyond their territorial waters, have not been receiving royalties for its oil but “goodwill payment”, similar to both Kelantan and Terengganu.

“This means that all this while these two states have been receiving goodwill payment for its oil and not royalty despite Petronas’ financial report which clearly states that Sabah and Sarawak have been receiving royalty,” Kuala Krai PAS lawmaker Dr Hatta Ramli told a press conference in Parliament.

“This also means that oil profit is distributed according to the whims and fancy of the federal government and Section 144 of the National Petroleum Act which stipulates that 50 per cent of oil profit be given to oil producing states is obsolete,” he added.

What do you expect from a grad from 'Nothing' ham(sic) ? If this were S'pore, one might just occupy the most junior position in the secretary's pool with a degree from Nottingham.

I've actually been around the campus of the Uni. Nothing impressive and there is really a Sherwood Forest, along the freeway into the city. Often said, it is a place for tertiary education once students are passed over by more credible institutions and hence, there are many M'sian's in Nottingham. At least grads of Nottingham still tower over UTM students.

Bad enough Najib is ill qualified. Perhaps Rosmah is better schooled. That said, we have the complete package ie. a corrupt thief who is a philanderer but blessed with a unremarkable piece of paper for a Prime Minister.

I guess that is the best M'sians should expect after two full blown generations of Ketuanan Melayu. Expect for Najib to make it up as he goes, all in name of self preservation from facing the warden's in Sg.Buloh.

By the way, are there any plans for an upgrade in detention facilities ? If I were an UMNO contractor, this is one plum job that provides the inside track to have build 'hidden tunnels' for easy access out of detention.

Mampus UMNO and may the stars above look kindly on us common folks in M'sia.

Could this case to be brought into international court although this is an internal matter? Who can trust the Judges after the Perak incident? There is no constitution protection in Malaysian courts anymore!

Sabah and Sarawak. Going by najib's definition, what you have received all these years are only goodwill payments but not royalty. It means the states have been short-changed. So, insist to be paid the difference.

If the demand falls on deaf ears, teach them in the coming GE.

It is a mistake BUT because HE wimped out to his own UMNO warlords and underestimate the backlash that will spread to far and wide. Those in urban areas will just say- just like Mahathir - anything also can. Those in Sabah and Sarawak who is tired of being treated like second class will think that if they don't get rid of UMNO, their money will also be Wang Ehsan..Sabah gas and oil in particular is just coming on stream now..

Najib is in reality a moron...

Welcome to Malaysia, the boleh land. Any rules will turn up side down to favour the rules.. " Cheng Hu " ( hokkien ) will decide everything, selective prosecution, different rules for Cronies & scumbags, other rules for opposition. Soon, we will become No 1 in the world, the laughing stock of the world.

Malaysia Memang boleh !
