http://1426.blogspot.com/ I was at the Protes rally yesterday with at least 30,000 others (estimated by Malaysiakini). The carnival-like atmosphere may short of drama by some protestors who are used of intimidations and interruptions by the Police.
I heard that was a commotion when a singer showed off his butt to the crowd. I was not present during the show and only came over after maghrib when the crowd was spiralling.
To say the least, being a 'tourist', I enjoyed the atmosphere in sea of red colour among Malaysian colourful faces. Old and young gathered to show their frustrations towards the government of the day.
There was not much to say about the speeches, especially Anwar's. I had expected that he would announce his by-election or introduce those MPs who were supposed to cross over. He repeated the same recycled things about the current political mud-slinging episodes. He still had his charisma intact though and the crowd cheered him loudly with reformasi chants.
Honestly, I am myself tired of waiting to see the real changes happening. It would be the day to celebrate and as passing days, I have doubts as well on whatever promises to be delivered by Sept 16.
During this vacation, I may just concentrate on my off days and have fun as well as catch-up with family members and friends. Life goes on and dream on.
By the way, 'Imagine' song came to my mind during the protes rally with a bit of changes in lyrics...
Imagine there's no barisan It's easy if you try No ISA to detain us Above us only constitution
Imagine all the people Living for today... Imagine there's no parties It isn't hard to do Nothing to campaign or vote for And no racism too
Imagine all the people Living life in peace... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the Malaysians will be as one
Imagine no corruptions I wonder if you can No need for C4 or sodomy A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all resources...
You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And Malaysians will live as one
