Nanyang Siang Pau reported that four people who were arrested for allegedly trying to run down police officers near the barricade at Bandar Mahkota Cheras are suing the Government for defamation.
They are also planning to sue the police for causing hurt to one of them, according to MCA Youth central committee member Yit Lee Kok. Yit said MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai had asked the Youth Legal Bureau to provide assistance to the four involved, and the bureau’s chief Gan Ping Sieu would be representing them. Yit also called on the police to drop the attempted murder and rioting cases against the four. He said police had alleged that the four failed to follow instructions to stop their car for inspection and tried to back their car into two policemen. Police investigated the case under attempted murder and rioting with dangerous weapons, and the investigation papers have been forwarded to Attorney-General for further action. - The Star
