Are the minorities not deserving enough to have special rights?

The elections are over. BN has won with a simple majority. The nation has a so-called two party system. BN has pledged to work with PR.

After 3 months since the election, we still see infighting among the ruling coalition. Normally after an election success, there would be renewed zest to start implementing policies that benefits the nation. Today the scenario is otherwise.

The rakyat is disappointed. BN still treat the Rakyat as second class. They forget that the Rakyat are the ones that put them in power. They still act high and mighty. They still feel like VIP’s. They don’t want to come down from their high pedestals. They want the people to respect them outright. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? BN should respect the people that put them there. PR has set an example with DAP LGE and PAS Nik Aziz refusing to waste the people’s money by traveling second class.

They refuse to accept the fact that half the country has decided that BN isn’t that relevant any more. They still cling on desperately in power, with non of the major political party leaders offering to quit. They say, “This time we will make a difference”. They didn’t make a difference in the last fifty years, but they think they can this time round.

The Rakyat are a simple people, patient and receptive. We want very little from the government. Some of what the Rakyat wants is simple:-

A multi racial government

We do not want a Divide and Rule coalition. This is a primitive concept. We just want equal rights for all Malaysians. The easiest way for the government to do that is to give Special rights to all Malaysians. When everyone has Special Rights, then there will be no special rights. Why??!, “Are the minorities not deserving enough to have special rights?”

The concept of certain politicians to fight for race and religion is stale news.

Everyone, can see through their façade. Why cant BN unite to rule multiracially without placing emphasis on race.

Do you know how happy, Malaysians would be, if they know that everyone has equal rights, and no ne is above the law, and that we have a government that Cares.

Corruption

The Rakyat can’t be bothered about the growing corruption, if it does not affect nation building, and the toll that it has  taken on our weary nation. This nation lags behind others even after 50 years of independence. The Rakyat knows better, so do not pretend that the Rakyat is ignorant. Corruption, plunders a wealthy nation, increases racial conflicts, and is a sin to our nation.

A People Friendly Government

Why cant the government come down to the level of the people? Why are we not dismantling the hurdles and stumbling blocks, that is slowing the nations growth? A lot more can be done to promote an ‘enterprising culture’.

Why are we not implementing multiracialism, and the spirit of Muhibbah?

Segregation, is a Sad Fact, in this country, and if the government continues to ignore this, it will lead to a time bomb!

So, dear BN, we wish you all the best, and you know now, what the Rakyat wants!

It may be too late for you to fulfill the aspirations of the Rakyat, but if your mandate does last until the next election, and some of these aspirations are fulfilled, we may reconsider BN again in the next elections, although you can be sure we will not give you a two thirds majority.

If you do not last until the next election, we welcome you as the new opposition to ensure that PR will always be on it’s toes.

Iskandar Dzulkarnain is quite right to have noted that the power brokers in UMNO has yet to wake to a changed Malaysian society. They are still unable to see that UMNO's style of politics is passe and that more than half of the citizens are more than ready to move on and break away from the politics of racialism, cronyism, corruption and power abuse.UMNO and its style of politics need to be consign to the dustbin of Malaysian political history.

For the last 50years, BN/UMNO had 'divide and rule' this country just like the colonial masters before them. Why? Because the colonial masters knew that if the Rakyat is united they will be out of 'business' which what happened. So UMNO used the same tactics with the help of MCA and MIC to divide the Malays, Chinese and Indian so they can stay in power to make more money for themselves. That is why the ordinary Rakyat is second-class citizen while UMNO/MCA/MIC members is first-class citizen.

Really hope PR can show to the Rakyat of their capabilities and we can have a two party system for more check and balance

Creating tiered rights by race, religion, colore, orgigin etc is by design, its is a strategy to disenfranchise and divide the peoples, to create demand and relevance of unscrupulous politicians.

Race and religion are just tools to leverage - its been done before by many other nations and by many other politicians (including India where our former premier has learned these unscrupulous strategies and tactics, and has successfully implemented it in Malaysia)

Don't expect to appeal to their social understandings - they have incentives to not allow our diversity to flourish. Its called extracting the Oil Money for themselves.

BN has been ruling the country discriminating one race against anothe for too long and they forget that the Raayat are now fed up with it.

When are they going to get it right?

Might as well vote them out once and for all, instead of trying to educate these conniving politicians!

*blink*

Whoa...what's going on here? I remember another article here on MT not too long ago that was also written by an 'Iskandar Dzulkarnian'. IIRC, that artice was very much pro-Ketuanan Melayu despite leaning towards the Opposition somewhat. There was stuff in the article along the lines of "Is it too much to ask for the PM to be Malay because they are a majority in this country?" or some crap like that.

Are these authors the same person? If so, than why the sudden about face?

*is totally confused now*

Sabah not happy, Sarawak not happy, Malaya also not happy... The only solution is to split up ... no need to quarrel over the oil money, natural resources, timber, illegal immigrants, religion, UMNO, and so on. All happy.

After controlling for more than 50 years, the BN thinks that they owned the country. How is BN going to work with PKR??...that is going to be Mission Impossible>>>>
BN will say that they are multi racial by having stooges like MCA, MIC and the whole lot.
On the corruption....yes,,, BN views this very seriously...catch the ikan bilis and protect the cronies.
People friendly....another yes by BN...they are friendly to their cronies. Therefore, it all come down to BN. With them on the verge of being kicked out by the rakyat..they either to run like hell or spinning stories on the credibility of PKR.

BTW,Iskandar...you have written a good piece.

Lets be honest.Despite the failings of the government to meet our expectations and its sheer arrogance, we have not failed to put BN in power, election after election. Even GE12,we RETURN them to POWER.

Despite rumblings and grumblings on the ground, when it comes to the crux - voting those whom we want to lead us; Malaysians being Malaysians (typically 'no balls', 'talk only,no action") we let ourselves down time after time.Even Sabah, with so much 'grouses' failed to garner the votes to show its unhappiness. It failed to live up to its "promise" to deliver before the elections.I had expected her to do better than Selangor or Perak. Likewise, Sarawak.

Lets face it, we enjoy the status quo! Corruption or what have you, Malaysians have adapted well to "these" and thrive.

Today, when there is so much ballyhoo over PR forming the new government, I am really worried. Will the thunder fizzle out to nothing in the end?

Sad, but thats things are. It is difficult to change, but thats what we must do to make things happen. We cannot lift our hopes high and let it go asunder.
