Ezam had gone on record many times, saying he would not rejoin Umno. He said he wanted to focus on the campaign against corruption beyond partisan lines.

EZAM Mohd Nor coming back into Umno's fold? It is still hearsay, at this stage.

News that he is to rejoin the party he had been critical of until the March 8 polls is strange, but as they say, anything is possible in politics. Stranger things have happened.

Furthermore, it has been a longstanding rumour that the once rising star in Umno and former close aide of former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will return to the party, which he once served as the Petaling Jaya Selatan deputy division chief.

Ezam has not made up his mind although he did meet Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi two weeks ago and Datuk Seri Najib Razak soon after.

He is expected to answer this nagging question soon now that he got home from Bangkok yesterday, but not without first having a "small talk" with former colleagues from Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

There are many questions, if it is true that Ezam, once dubbed the "Siamese twin" of PKR's vice-president Azmin Mohd Ali, has the intention to rejoin Umno. More so since it is a known fact that he left PKR after a fallout with Azmin.

Is he returning to Umno's fold because he sincerely believes it to be the only party championing the cause of the Malays?

Is he conceding that fighting corruption, through the Civil Movement against Corruption (Gerak) he helped set up, is a lost cause? Or does he find the invitation from Umno leaders to revitalise Umno an irresistible offer?

"I think it's strange (for him) to join the very institution he has been critical of. (But) this is his choice.

"After all he has done for the party (PKR), after going to prison, it would be odd for him to go back to them," said PKR chief Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Ezam had gone on record many times, saying he would not rejoin Umno. He said he wanted to focus on the campaign against corruption beyond partisan lines.

But Umno seems keen to embrace Ezam despite his venomous attacks on the party leadership, particularly on alleged corrupt practices in the government.

There is also concern. The question of Ezam being a "Trojan horse" was dismissed by Najib, who reportedly said that Ezam is a friendly party.

Speculation that Ezam will be appointed a senator and be given the task to lead the battle to recapture Selangor also has not gone down too well with other suspicious leaders.

There is uneasiness within Umno Youth, too, over talk of pushing Ezam to lead the movement.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has prepared three questions for the party leadership to ponder on the Ezam "crossover". First, what is the benefit for Umno if Ezam rejoins? Second, is he willing to struggle alongside Umno? Finally, what will be his role?

It is no secret that Ezam almost accepted an offer from PKR to contest the last general election after being told that Anwar was willing to forgive and forget.

When this did not materialise, Ezam convinced PKR leaders that he would assist "close friends" contesting the elections, which saw him campaigning for friends like Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Pas' Husam Musa and Mahfuz Omar.

When he was in Kelantan to launch a book published by Gerak, Islam dan Perjuangan Merawat Rasuah (Islam and the struggle against corruption), during the election campaign, he was full of praise for Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat for being the "cleanest" of all politicians.

But when the opposition pact won and statements and policies announced by Anwar on behalf of Pakatan Rakyat seemed to leave out the Malay agenda, Ezam was said to be upset.

Is rejoining Umno, therefore, an afterthought for this man?

Another political opportunist if he does so. His decision will clearly tell us whether he condones corruption, racist policy, hijacking of NEP by UMNO morons and all the rots we see in BN government today. His principles and name will be smeared forever. GOOD LUCK!

"But when the opposition pact won and statements and policies announced by Anwar on behalf of Pakatan Rakyat seemed to leave out the Malay agenda, Ezam was said to be upset."

First of all, she framed the was said part. We know her well. She is a pugnacous, nasty and nefarious UMNO sleazy girl. Now coming to the Malay Agend, what's Malay Agenda? I'm a Malay and I don't know what it means? What's Malay Agenda? And did Anwar or PKR said Malays will be sidelined? Isn't it clear that PKR President and Deputy President posts can only be contested by Malays, since that stands for the PM and DPM posts? And saying that Ezam changed his view after he didn't saw "Malay Agenda" after the elections is utter lie, because PKR has formulted its policies one year ago before the elections and there was nothing new that would have been said. People were happy and bought the platform.

Ezam is leaving because PKR showed that it didn't need him and that's why it did well without him and he can't imagine going back and begging Azmin Ali to consider him again. He left because of Azmin for power struggle and Anwar didn't intervene in the boys fight, so if he wants to go back, h should leave his tempremental nature and accept that he is just one of the many people in the party. Why should he fight to be the gate keeper of Anwar, which the whole fight revolved around?

His return to UMNO will inflate his bank account but deflate his entire being. Only a man without character and moral conviction will return to UMNO. If he is uncomfortable with PKR, plese have a heart to heart with Anwar. If not join PAS.
To think of race linked agenda at this stage of our socio-political advancement is revealing his immaturity.

YM RPK has told us how they rob you of your will using ISA torture. They can plant all kinds of commands, activated at the appropriate time. This is why you must, as the ultimate masters of this country, determine to rid yourselves of all thuggish laws, whaterver their mumbo-jumbo titles.

Ezam made his move to rejoin UMNO well before GE-12. After the 2004 election which saw PKR left with a solitary seat in Parliament, the ambitious Ezam had to find a way to improve his political fortune. So he started cozying up to UMNO, and if, after GE-12 PKR's remained unchanged, he would rejoin UMNO. But he miscalculated. Now, it is UMNO who wants to call Ezam's bluff. They are the ones who are spreading the stories about Ezam's imminent reentry into UMNO. The guy is in a real dilemma. But I don't pity him.

Haiya, DSAI was in UMNO for a very long time. And he did not quit, he was sacked. When it was up to him then, he said 'kita akan lawan'.
So what is the fuss?

these so-called "suspicious leaders" r most likely those who r afraid of losing their turf. where does malay interest figure in all of this? looks like they r most interested in preserving their own interest.

Firstly, it's a bit late ezam. You should have fought your corner in PKR and ACCEPTED the majority verdict. You now want to join UMNO ? I find it difficult to believe. How will you explain to the ex-minister the reasons why you submitted that huge file on corruption by this ex-minister ? Lastly, zubaidah, how come you are not attacking PAS anymore ? Got shit on your face from the biased crap you used to write on behalf of your bosses ? Padan muka !

He says he wants to fight corruption, but he is rejoining a party known for its rampant corruption. He claims he wants to see justice done, but UMNO is not known for its just policies. So, now it just goes to show the true colours of this guy.

Birds of the same feather, some how, some way, always want to flock, fly and play together. It's what you can also call The Law of Attraction - Bad party attracts bad members and so on. By joining Umno back just goes on to show his true colours. The many colours and facade of the Hypocrite and Munafeequn.

"Ezam The Hypocrite & Munafeequn"

I emphasize again the "UMNO APPROACHED HIM". No matter what, if his intentions are for the rakyat, its best he stays away from all these political sharks..

All the best Ezam and may the truth always prevails.. AMMAR MAARUF NAHI MUNKAR!

In history's crucial moments, some choose to become a hero to the people, others choose to become the people's foe. We all have high hope that Ezam will make his choice wisely - to stand by the rakyat's side when it counts and not to fall prey to the temptation of the dark side.
