Should we continue to be fools forever to serve the rascals in robes PDF Print

When the government apparatus ie- media, police and civil bodies becomes the guardian to power and privilege in absence of honesty, truth and justice for the people, it is perilious for the society- yes our society.

R. Shan (Human Being)

I am not being cynical but it seems that is what it looks like. Sure, we keep telling ourselves, everything is fine in this fine democracy state as the system always works when everything that is important for the society is swept under the carpet. Imagine the amount of police reports being made these days, day in, day out (you know which want I mean), isn't it a joke?, is it the malfunctioned system or us?

Do you think all this man made system is flawless and will safeguard our freedom, way of life and enhance our society other than to spell money, faction and fear that is subjugated to individual needs. If that was it, Bersih, Hindraf, RPK,  the five (5) opposition state & FT would not have existed.

Why Bersih, Hindraf, RPK and the five (5) opposition states & FT are in existence is because there is honesty for the cause they wage for the society. It means there are segments of the society recognize the struggle for the right reason. When honesty is involved, there is truth and justice that is prevailent for the society.  Frankly how much prove of honesty is needed for us the Malaysian public in an individual manner for a collective purpose to see or seek before we can create a truly Malaysian society and a truly effective system. Your guess is as good as mine.

No one can eliminate the prejudice we have in ourselves, but just recognize it. For one, with all the nonsense that happens in Malaysia, a chosen few embark in their path for truth and justice irrespective what the system is or what it should be. They rather be human than an android created by the system. System is fine provided ultimately it serves its society as oppose to being manipulated as a hindrance to reflect the honesty, truth and justice for the society. The term of freedom, liberty holds no weight if the system circumvents it for a superficial society due to it's impotence to act.

When the government apparatus ie- media, police and civil bodies becomes the guardian to power and privilege in absence of honesty, truth and justice for the people, it is perilious for the society- yes our society. The progenitor's purpose is to serve the rascals in robes to control us, to condition our thinking, so that we look to them or the system as protection to protect us without any action. Without a society there is no government, without honesty, truth and justice there is no society. The roots of our individualisms are inseparable from the source from which all others derive -ie honesty, truthness & justice, therefore coercive practices that threatens our society also threaten us individually maybe not today, but one day it will catch up to us.

How are we holding so far for a Malaysian society in a world today that is full of deceit, deception and double standards as it meets our own needs without a need for honesty, truth and justice is truly amazing.

We, Malaysians are no different, same old rhetoric for the moment, then it all dies off.  We can't change the past but we can plow the future by acting and activitely be involved individually for the society and let the system work in a way that we want it to work. Yes, it has started, let's move forward.

Food for thought – Pakatan Rakyat has five (5) states & FT in their control revolutionarized by the society. It would benefit the society if a public ombudsman is created in these states who amongst their function will be to raise issues that effects the public interest as well as monitoring the effectiveness of the elected representative. This way, the elected rep will not be cloaked up as he or she will be involved in running the administration of the state and and able to streamline the voice for the public through these ombusdsman.

This ombudsman should be made of civic conscious individuals or group without ulterior motives who genuinely intend to serve voluntarily (yes no pay- it is a voluntary servitude) and should have access directly to the state elected representative- ie Bersih, Hindraf, RPK, People's Parliament, Citizen Think Tank and not those toothless NGOs.

Secondly, there are many projects in these states that are controlled by the Federal government, naturally the lucrative ones. Trust none of these projects benefits the public except for filling up the pockets of those rascals in robes. The legal eagles of these states should work out a strategy to either maneuver it in such a way that the public would benefit or show the concessioners the highway. I am sure the efforts have been taken, but public participation by their act needs to increase.

Interesting topic will be Penang second bridge. The cost had escalated from $2.8-$3.0 billion to $4.3 billion within a span of 2 year. I don't even want to talk about how much more cheaply it can be build elsewhere. Today the Federal government and Petronas are at logger head with the state government on the financing aspect. Look at it in this scenario, if every Penangites are willing to donate RM100.00 a month for 12 months it brings in RM1.8 Billion. Imagine if the all these five states & FT with about 10.0 million people are able support the same, we will have more than enough without depending on the Federal government for this as well as other projects. Need help, howl, the people will find the financier or finance it.

Sure, public is going to ask you what is my benefit, work it out, let the experts figure it out, give them a rebate in their income tax, concession on toll, and so forth. Get your financier's to work and show us the public how it will benefit them on the long run. The five state governments if it manages properly with accountability and transperancy with equal participation by the public, will have their coffer filled for all the projects that benefits the society.

Kelantan had been in the opposition since 1990 yet, its people has sustained because the People act in coherent with their thinking. The other four (4) states should take some pointers from Kelantan what the society is capable for the goodness of their society rather than fall under the spell of artificial happiness created by those rascals in robes.

We are always full of thinking without acting in our lives, but now, we have the ability to act in coherent with our thinking for our society at least for the five (5) states. We are leaders in our own mold, we need a plan, instruction, the seed or a tool for us, the public to act cohesively to achieve our goals. Bersih, Hindraf & RPK are the pathfinders for our lost society, they have and will continue to play their role to awaken us, and now it is up to us to take the challenge and make it happen for a Truly Malaysia if we collectively see it for our society.

My Dear Malaysian, we all have ideas but we must be able to put it into good use for the society as oppose to serve us individually. The will to choose and the responsibility for us as a society should naturally be based on humanity, morality and ethics. These fundamental values are unchanged forever. Because we fear the responsibility for our actions, we have allowed ourselves to develop the mentality of slaves to the unjust government and sysytem. We cannot pledge our lives, our society, our honor to the man made system whose actions continue to exploit, despoil, and destroy us in Malaysia.

We, by our will and responsibility collectively set these standards and create institutions to orderly govern us not to abuse us. It does not matters whether a rocket scientist tells you this or a garbage collector, you are on your own when you recognize the truthness in the message that you seek for the goodness of the society. So let's start acting and stop wasting time in thinking and analyzing what is true and false as long it serves what is the truthness, fairness and justicifiable cause for our society.

Do we care of if?, Yes!, Can we do something about it?, Yes!, but we need the support of you, the society in a collective manner to correlate the action for what Malaysian can actually be capable of achieving if collectively we can act together to show that truth, justice and honesty is not in rags at least in Malaysia.

The above are my pittance thoughts, but I am pretty sure there are many more excellent ones to come from my fellow Malaysians once the ball starts rolling for the right reasons. Again, only thinking about it does not help unless we can act on it if feasible and practical without engaging in endless intellectual debates that bears no fruit.

The ruling administration continues to underestimate our society, although the ruling administration thrives on the society's mandate and money. We are the People and we should be in power. Until and when we can collectively act it is the same all adage.

Until and when, we the public, actively participate and act, there would not be any real and major change but just a camouflage for the rascals in robes. We have seen and experienced a glimpse of it in Bersih, Hindraf & RPK and of course March 8 and it should entice us further for the cause. Let's move to the next level by our act in unison.

If democracy, let it be, if socialism, let it be, if totalarism, let it be, if fascism, let it be, if maxism, let it be, whatever the ideology is, it must always be the will of the society without false pretence for the rascals in robes but for the goodness of the society.

You only die once but live many chapters, your legacy will always live if it is for the truth, justice and honesty you seek. Are we ready? Yes we are, so let's make the change, and let's start with the five (5) states & FT where purportly the People's Power rule.

"The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who loves his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen; he is a good citizen driven to despair." --H.L. Mencken

Shan wonderfully written , keep it up !!!!you make me cry for Malaysia!!!! my inner emotions for a better Nation in every way --- Absolutely frustrating !! with the kind of Leaders this country has produced in the name of divisive polemics!!!

I share the pain of your heart, as you express each word of the downtrodden faculties bordering us all as Citizens. My admiration to the new breed of Leaders in the 5 states.
May God and we, give them all the strengths to build a better Place called Malaysia.

The Malaysian government is one of the most bloated in the world. In order to justify its existence it created procedures and hoops that all of us must jump through (like well-trained dogs) in order for us to have anything done. Of course every hoop has a justification and whenever a new problem arise all they needed to do was to add in a few more hoops. As time went we were confronted with so much hoops that the cost of living in a civil society or the cost of doing business became exhorbitant. No one bother to ask if all these hoops were necessary. All those impressive process charts seem to satisfy only all these self-satisfied, imagination challenged pegawai-s. And they walk around exerting their self-given authority with an exaggerated sense of self-importance.

On a side note, Putrajaya has become a monstrosity without any real justification.

When we have many hoops, business people will find ways to circumvent those hoops and this has given rise to an environment in which corruption has become rife. Is it any wonder that we ranked so poorly in the international corruption index ? Remove those hoops and make life easier and easier for businessmen to conduct businesses the opportunities for corruption, while still there, would have been minimised.

Pilfering amongst the civil service is also very rife. Imagine if one civil servant were to take RM1 per month the people would have lost RM12 million a year. One UMNO member and former civil servant told me about how come budget day those "pegawai"s would go round asking who wanted a new vehicle. They will then put in the request and of course some clever and reasonable justification. Afterall we are all reasonable people - does it matter if the reason is real or not ? When they buy their new impressive-looking 4 wheeler(which seems to be the norm these days) they would use these vehicles as their own private vehicle. I wonder who paid for the fuel ?

So will PR be able to mould the civil service into a highly efficient and cost-effective organisation that is sensitive to the needs of the people ?

There is hope but the challenge is huge. It will really be like teaching an old elephant to dance.

In Malaysia it is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong. It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.

So lets try PR...

Shan, I have read and listened to so called leaders including NGOs, nothing so far has raised my interest so much to read than your simple yet meaningful article. I wonder when the morons are going to read it carefully to understand. It will not surprise me if none read your article as Malaysians particularly BN politicians read probably not even a page a day. Sad indeed.

Good points, chiongguo.

Consider the waste created by the real estate scams Putrajaya and Cyberjaya (built instead of utilizing empty KL buildings and improving public transport):
a. Opportunity cost for capital.
b. Waste of time to travel for citizens and our public servants.
c. Waste of fuel for vehicles and street-lights.
d. Difficulty in locating buildings spread far apart, as if your public servants are hiding from you.
e. Waste of materials.
f. Destruction of greenery incl. water catchment areas.
g. Heat islands. To appreciate this, drive around the unused 90% of Putrajaya now empty but already laid out with roads, traffic lights, flyovers, sidewalks.
