Jeffrey claims Sabah losing RM15m daily PDF Print

(The Daily Express) - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Vice-President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan claims Sabah will be losing a huge revenue of RM15 million daily if the 20 per cent oil royalty demand is not entertained by the Federal Government.

Based on the current world price of petrol at US$100 per barrel and Sabah oil wells' daily production of at least 400,000 barrels per day, he said this loss amounts to a staggering RM4.5 billion a year.

"This is another compelling reason for the Sabah MPs to cross over to the Pakatan Rakyat. Their continued loyalty to the BN is actually causing tremendous and unconscionable losses for the people of Sabah," he said in a statement, Thursday.

He said there is also another frightening dimension to the whole scenario in that the oil wells in Sabah are projected to go dry within the next six years.

Dr Jeffrey said this means if they wait for another term for the BN to be in power, Sabah will accumulate a loss of RM22.5 billion in the next five years.

So, even if the Pakatan Rakyat takes over the Federal Government in five years from now, he said Sabah and Sarawak will only enjoy the promised 20 per cent royalty for only one year, he said.

"This would mean even if Sabah were to get 50 per cent oil royalty then, it wouldn't amount too much if the oil wells in Sabah had already dried up."

Dr Jeffrey said the MPs should also think that the window of opportunity might be closed by August considering the potentials of current developments.

Therefore, he said a brave step from the MPs now would open new formula of leadership-sharing at the Federal and State levels such as six appointments from Sabah in the Federal Cabinet including a Deputy Prime Minister including more ambassadorial appointments from Sabah and Sarawak.

He said they should be aware of the historic significance of taking or missing this opportunity and that they will have to face the rakyat in the future for failing to grab the rare opportunity to create change that the people have been dreaming for generations.

Our brothers and sisters from Sabah and Sarawak have long been deprived of a livehood that they legitimately and rightfully had deserved.

Under the current circumstances, all in the two states had to think and act fast to stop further, the decay and pilferage of the God given resources by a few greedy selfish ones without an iota of thought as to whether such money is Halal or Haram. They know too well also that they can't take those along to their graves.

What the heck, they fill their coffers anyway for the next 3 or 5 or even 7 generations to come. What a colossal adulteration of their innocent future progeny, they don't care.

When PR becomes the Government of the Day, they have to ensure that at the implementation level, things better be squeaky clean so that whatever allocated can reach the palms of those poor Sabah and Sarawak brothers and sisters.

I am a hard code PR supporter, however I will not think PR can simply change the loyalty payout to Sabah and Sarawak overnight.

I am a Sarawakian and would love to see the changes immediately. Look at my state from Ulu Baram, I feel so sad by the destruction of the rain forest, the muddy Baram River. I usually to be able to swim in the river and come our clean.

PR has to look into all the legal (federal and state) aspect and come out with a agreement for public viewing immediately. Talk is Cheap!

I would like to ask the Sabahans and Sarawakians on what basis are they now asking for 20% oil royalty? DOThey were given a golden opportunity by Anwar, PKR and PR to vote the opposition in... and yet these people voted in BN!!!

Not to worry.. There is still salvation. immediately and gain the 15 million daily.

You continuously choose to ignore statements explaining teh situation in East M'sia-are you doing so willingly, or is it just your mental capacity?

20% royalty on the basis of the 20 Point agreement that was a pre-condition of teh formation of malaysia-we did not join M'sia, but the Federation of Malays (1 entity), Singapore, Sabah and S'wak (3 entities) got together to form the Federation of Malaysia.

Yes, many East M'sians voted BN. That is true. In Sabah many phantom voters voted BN too as well. Also, PKR & DAP stood candidates against each other. This had 2 effects:
1. Split the vote
2. Made peopel ask why they should trust PR when they acnnot even agree on seat allocations.

Not to worry.. There is still salvation. immediately and gain the 15 million daily.

Sure, sure-immediate salvation-we need much more than $$$, and for me personally, I doubt PR will look very hard to ensure the Sabah politicians use the extra $$$ for the peopel-in exchange for their support, Anwar and co. may well agree to turn a blind eye to some $$$ going into some people's pockets. For him, it's a price worth paying to get into office. For the MPs, it's a price worth paying to leave BN and its bribes. For Sabahans, nothing much will change apart from cosmetic changes.

DASI, I still don't think Jeffrey will do any good to PR...look at his hopping records ...champion : "former member of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Parti Angkatan Keadilan Rakyat (AKAR Bersatu), and United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO). In 2003, applied United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) but rejected anf now trying on Keadilan"

imho Sabahan politicians are a bunch of unscrupulous and untrustwothy fellows. Only interested in personal profit and gain, willing to sell out their family and friends and community for self-interest only. They will hop for $, never for principles. And they will hop again after that, for more $. Jeffery probably has worn out numerous pogo sticks by now, he's hopped so much himself.

Reported 23/5/08: Petronas made RM 570 billion from 1974 to this year. 63% paid to "government". 30% for re-investment. 7% (RM 41 billion to "minority shareholders" and "foreign tax".
(a) These figures don't match the statement about 2 weeks ago that federal govt. got 10% and state govt's 5%.
(b) Are these considered re-investment and are they allowed in the corporate charter? :
Buying planes, oil tankers, shipping companies.
Setting up orchestra and building.
Office real estate: Twin Towers.
Propping up banks.
Motor racing.

OK; can someone tell me why you would give 80% of wealth and be happy to keep 20%. Now he will give you 20% and everyone says cross over, take it etc; wotisgoingon here mate?

So, now if someone comes along and says I will give you what 25%, you will cross over? To what? For the next guy from the Fed to screw you? Hey, wakeup Sabahans, Sarawakians? Anwar was screwing Sabah, Sarawak for 16 years;; now you are happy to let him screw you for a bit less. Same fold, same cloth. These are the same racist religious who will say anything to steal your money. Yes, thats right.

If 400K BBLs are indeed produced in Sabah per ay, then at say 100 US a barrel, that should be 40M US per day. That's what Sabah should be fighting for; not 15M MYR per day; itu kacang putih la.

One thing that needs to be done fast is CHANGE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! CHANGE BN. I know it's a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. But then again, we've known the "devil" for far too long already. It's time to take our chances and go for the deep blue sea.

For all those nay sayers, i would like to ask what choice do we have? Being in this status quo is downright frustrating... disappointing..i don't have words to describe how frustrated i am with the BN Government's indifference towards the serious problems facing Sabah today. Can't the Sabahan BN MPs see that the BN Government will NEVER listen to us Sabahans. UMNO people are just buying their time. Of course we don't know for sure how PR Fed Government will treat us but are we willing to be govern by this "devil" of a BN government for another 50 more years or more? We've given them too much time already. It's time to act.

Current problem of Sabah and Sarawak is not the ruling politicians but the people who elect them. They are like the West Malaysian in 2004 when they vote overwhelmingly for Bodowi and other corrupted BN MPS. Their ruling MPs are well-oiled with money, position and opportunities, so they are not going to defect. Who of a right mind would give all these up unless the guy is a selfless, God-fearing, and sincere in serving the nation? So let us help to awaken the people of Sabah and Sarawak to change their leaders. But we have another problem: there is no strong opposition in both states like PR. PR must spread its wing over there but its leaders must come from among the Sabahans or Sarawakians to be accepted and effective. Let's get working, guys. PR - are you listening?

Are you sure Sabah is losing RM15million daily? Have you done your homework? But according to your elected chief minister he dosent agree. If he agrees why is he keeping mum? Do reveal your substantiated figures. If you are dead sure Sabah is losing this much, you must be a nut being a pakatan member having your mouth stuffed with the biggest dick. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GET OUT OF THE RUT BEFORE YOU SINK.
