Groups want a trimmed-down Suhakam PDF Print

18 or 20 commissioners seating in the Human Rights Commission appears unwieldy does it not. A smaller group of people will be effective, and too many cooks spoiling the broth can be avoided.

Some of the members are so illusive to speak of, in terms of performance, their names do not even come on in print - possibly they are the silent action oriented people who work from the background.

The Hindraf group of lawyers are asking Siva Subramaniam to resign after his worthy investigation of the condition of a sick man. Siva went on remote control and said P.Uthyamoorthy was hale and hearty without even seeing the patient. His intuitive sense must be all prevailing. I wish all of us have that ability.

Do we need a Suhakam at all? Just disband them. It is waste of time. Is it still headed by a former AG Talib. Read Tun Salleh's book and find out what a worm he is!

First of all , suhakam ought to be the leader in making changes towards government policies and to advocates justice and human rights.
But, suhakam failed big time.
How many times did when suhakam recommended something and really press for it.
The PR ( last time known as Opposition ) did a better job than suhakam in all fields.
PR , can we press bodohwi to elevate suhakam to Justice Dept?..Same like the one found in USA?
Some credits to suhakam, such as recommending the IPCMC.Not all their commissioner are makan gaji buta, some did spoke out against bad policies and against the watered down IPCMC version by the government.
Suhakam must looks into new ways to deliver the message to the people and knocks on all political leaders and whip the polis.Even suhakam is indeed powerless.

There isn't one true Institution that is not beholden to the govt, The only thing that hold Malaysia on its base is the Petronas money. Imagine a country that is a net importer of oil!!!

As much as Brunei, Malaysia will all become a luxury version of Ethiopia, Congo in 20 years time . Its so right that we have started the change right away with the 5 states. All these rights groups instituted by the govt are just paper dragons ... Too much at stake for them to fight against the Lords at Putrajaya. This is the reason -- what ever misinformation they can stick to Berseh, Hindraf they will .

--- to keep the truth away while they transfered the funds to the Bahamas , or the Cayman . We may have to be patient till the end of the year to see the fireworks in Dec, and im sure UMNO will find a bogeyman to instill new games on the political plateau !!!

Some three yeras ago, The Phoenix Foundation thro' its network of lawyers filed an action{Habeas Corpus} & invited SUHAKAM to hold a watching brief. We also asked The Bar Council, & Mr Yeoh Yang Poh stated that it was honour to haold a watching brief! But the so & so's from Suhakam stated{in writing} that it needs to be "invited" by the Judge!!!!Sudahlah go take a flying... at a rolling doughnut! How can the RT Hon "Dato" Siva, make any comment without seeing & talking 2 Uthayakumar. I know this fellow{UTK- Uthayakumar very well- dreamer, idealist etc but he is not a fake} Siva of SUHAKAM! Everyone is there for the money. It pays RM 7,000 a month, plus perks. A sort of retirement for them.
