IPOH: Policies of the new ruling coalition in Perak will not marginalise any one race in the state, newly-appointed Mentri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said.

Calling the new government “Barisan Rakyat” (People’s Front), he said: “We will take into account the interest of the people when we make decisions or formulate policies.”

We will not marginalise any community in the state. This is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. We will protect the rights of all races,” he said.

He told a press conference at the PAS headquarters here after being named the ninth Mentri Besar of Perak that the people should not feel worried, unhappy or anxious about the new government and his appointment.

Urging the people to give their full cooperation and support to the new government, Mohammad Nizar said he hoped the people would accept it as the “people’s victory.”

Please do not harbour any suspicions

or doubts about the new government,” he said.

On concerns over the implementation of Islamic rules, he said the policies would take into account the people's interests. - STAR

Anyone read the Star?
Someone should slap Ong Ka Chuan for trying to instigate unrest.
If he dared to stand anywhere else outside his constituency, he would have lost big time. Ong Ka Chuan is a Semi-Value in the making. MCA should kick this dog out! smilies/angry.gif

I hope the new govt in Perak would govern justly and transparently. That way they will retain the state the next election and hopefully we can all move on to take over Parliament from the BN

Uncle Lim,

Where is your Bangsa Malaysia? The rakyat have done their part. The Chinese and Indians are supporting PAS. Malays even in the rural area are supporting DAP. The BOSS aspiration is so evident in the election result. Don't you get it?

We condemned BN for being race-based. Do we want to become like them?

Throw away your phobia on Islam. BARISAN RAKYAT is the key for a UNITED MALAYSIA FOR MALAYSIANS.

I am proud of my family and here's why:

We are Chinese.
I am a Muslim.
My sister is a Muslim.
My brother is Christian.
My parents are Buddhist.

My parents and my sister voted for DAP, I voted for PKR, and my brother voted for PAS in 12GE.

We celebrated CNY, Hari Raya and Christmas in the same house every year. My 60 year old mom and 70 year old dad are proud for being a multi religion family in Malaysia, why can't you understand that?

The Sultan of Perak and his Regent have shown wisdom in their speeches over time.

But Kit is right in that PKR and DAP had the majority and PAS is a distant third. Why was PKR passed? If at all, PKR should have been the second choice if to choose DAP's candidate would be unacceptable by some, then next should have been PKR. Tian Chua was also surprised. Tho his statement did not grab so much attention and Kit's.

I'd go with the Regent's choice on this one as he's alot smarter than me.

Trust.

As much as i want a DAP MB but i respect the decision of the Sultan. The Sultan of Perak is a highly respected man , he knows what is happening on the ground. He must have a good reason to appoint PAS man as MB. The non-malays should not worry about PAS leadership because DAP still has the majority exco members. If PAS was to implement strict islamic laws in Perak, not only the non-Malays will protest but the moderate Malays as well. Perak is different from Kelantan. PAS is too smart to take this risk of losing all their supports from malays and non-malays alike.
