Vandals splash paint on election chief's house PDF Print

RED ALERT: Workers cleaning up the EC chairman's house yesterday. It is suspected that the vandals were unhappy with the commission's decision not to use indelible ink in tomorrow's polls. -- PHOTO: REUTERS

RED paint was splashed on the Election Commission (EC) chairman's house yesterday, suspected to be the work of vandals unhappy with the EC's decision to cancel a plan to use indelible ink in the polls.

Three men were believed to have been behind the vandalism, which resulted in paint splattered over an exterior wall, the porch, the gates and Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman's car.

He discovered it when he got out of his house at 7.30am yesterday to hand his car keys to his driver.

The EC chairman, however, said it would not scare him into changing any decision that the commission had made with regard to the general election.

'Those who resorted to this act of mischief are surely disappointed people who do not want to accept the reason given by the EC. They are reacting with emotion and not thinking rationally,' he said.

The EC had drawn much flak after it called off the use of indelible ink on Polling Day tomorrow, reversing the plan to dab voters' fingernails with the ink to prevent them from voting more than once.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Muhammad Sabtu Osman said a security guard at a house opposite the EC chairman's home had seen a dark-coloured car with three men in it stopping in front of the house around 12.30am.

'According to the security guard, one of the men alighted and splashed the paint in the direction of the gates. When the guard gave a shout, the man dumped the tin of paint into a rubbish bin and the men took off in the car,' he said.

The suspects and the car could not be identified clearly.

Said the EC chairman yesterday: 'Today, my house became the target, but I am not intimidated. I am unaffected by this irresponsible act. I will continue to do as fairly as possible whatever is necessary and appropriate.'

Red Paint are only done only by Ah Longs. Of course Tan Sri didn't borrow from Ah Long, but Ah Long got an interest in seeing fair and transparent election. It's like us watching and waiting for 4-D or Toto.

Now, even Ah Long can't trust the election results!!

funny to read how civic minded the splasher was...."he dumped the tin into a rubbish bin before taking off"?..sounds like an internal job to solicit pity and gain support from Barisan Neraka....

Sounds very fishy to me. The guard saw the incident at 12.30 am but did not inform his boss??? He found out himself at 7.30am! What was the guard doing for 7 hours?! smilies/sad.gif

How I wish the one who did it splash drain water on his face instead....

My honest opinion, why waste good paint on his gate ? His gate don't deserve it but the owner definitely deserve it.

How do u know its not the work of BN?

If it is the Opposition, this would have been done long ago and now today. We all have no confident on this Tan Sri from the very beginning. The anger on him had already subsided. I think its all sandiwara.

Only fool would believed this is the work of the opposition. This Tan Sri guy is rotten to the core.

To me, the EC seem to be a stupid independent body. Have they not weighed the pros can cons, anticipated the loopholes, get into a brainstorm and discussed with all the parties and others before they decided to use the indelible ink? If other countries can use the ink without a hinge, why not Malaysia? Are they under the remote control of the BN?

Now that the fund is used with the cronies having pocketed the monies, the issue now only surfaced. What logic is this??? Are the inks refundable, if not what are they gonna do with it? I would suggest they paint it on their faces, and go round the country to show their stupidity. smilies/angry.gif smilies/angry.gif smilies/angry.gif and not to forget to smear it on to those BN goons who bragged too much during this campaign period.

I think this is self inflicted. why? if i were to be pissed and wanted to throw red paint at his house, i would have flung a few right up to the roof or minimum land a few on the cars parked at the car porch. The vandal has been very careful to only smear the gate and floor only? hmmm.....tak munasabah!

I say Mr.LKD, please read again, will you? It said the security guard from the opposite house and not the bugger's house. No wonder the opposition never win anything in elections. You simply never read what rubbish the government has been doing to the rakyat before you decide on who to vote.

By the way, i think the red paint is from the Alongs which he hutang and tak bolih selesai. This is not a job for the police but for Michael Chong, the undisputed KING for all delinquent borrowers ( this bugger included).

Please don't do anything to Abdul Rashid as he is one of us. If you see him yesterday on TV, he said that all voters should vent their anger at the Polloing Stations and not his gate. He is, in fact, asking all Malaysians to vote for DAP, PKR and PAS. He is angry and will join us too !

LKO very fishy indeed...

Quote..
"When the guard gave a shout, the man dumped the tin of paint into a rubbish bin and the men took off in the car"

I don't believe that the guard shouted is because when in the middle of the night someone shouts and make noise people will come out to investigate and this did NOT happen. That is why rashit found out about it in the morning at 7.30am.

best wishes

Perlembangan negara milik semua lapisan rakyat Malaysia.

Don't tell me EC Chairman is also victim of Ah Long. Maybe he bought ink using Ah Long Money and cannot pay back . My deepest condolences to his misfortune

But don't worry, we have Michael Choong from MCA,, I think he needs to come to rescue !!! Where are you, the one driving the extra mile with "siput"

By the way, recently we saw that they are using transparent voting Box. Yes the plastic fancy looking one. The curious question with the answer I want know is, what happened to all the metal boxes. Reason being, those metal scraps sells for really good money and we want to know who is in charge of scrapping it !!! All the metal boxes were probably done very well with old quality standard and has lots of metal content that probably fetch a lot of $$$ (a few tens of thousands).

So who is having that money ? because those are Tax Payer properties !!!!

“I don’t know when it happened,” he told Malaysiakini at his house, saying he had gone to bed at midnight.

Asked if he thought it was politically motivated, he said: “Definitely! I think they got angry because we were forced to scrap the indelible ink. People don’t understand why we were forced to scrap it and (they) have resorted to this.”

Belajar guna perkatan berlapik seperti … ‘I believe’, ‘may be’, ‘I suspect’ ‘it could be’ etc … bukan … ‘definitely’, sedangkan awak tak kenal, tak nampak siapa yang mencurah cat tersebut. Awak ni macam standard Zam-zam-ala-kazam je. Macam mana awak boleh dapat jawatan Pengerusi SPR ni?

It could be the work of the construction workers who might have not been paid by the contractor, who is now renovating your house! Or, may be, you borrow money from ah-long!

After 30 years, why suddenly you have a lot of money huh? Duit dakwat parker pen ya?
