PETALING JAYA: It is a case of the "Lion of Jelutong" campaigning for his "cub" in Puchong.
Despite being wheelchair-bound, veteran politician Karpal Singh took to the streets of Puchong Indah to offer his fatherly support for his son, Gobind Singh Deo.
Dubbed the "little lion of Puchong", DAP's Gobind, also a lawyer, is contesting the Puchong parliamentary seat against the Barisan Nasional's incumbent Lau Yeng Peng of Gerakan.
Karpal, 68, who is recovering from an accident in 2005, was as energetic as Gobind as they made their campaign rounds at the night market and food courts, among others, at Puchong Indah on Monday.
"I take my most unfortunate disability as a challenge and will not allow it to hinder my political work. "I don't see why I cannot go around in support of my son whom I see as among the aspiring young opposition politicians who are tipped to replace the older ones," said Karpal, who himself is vying to retain his Bukit Gelugor parliamentary seat in Penang, against the BN's Datuk Koay Kar Huah of MCA.
Another of Karpal's sons, Jagdeep Singh Deo, is contesting Penang's Datuk Keramat state seat against the BN's Ong Thean Lye of Gerakan and independent candidate Shahul Hameed M.K. Mohamed Ishack.
Gobind said he saw a great chance for him to wrest back the Puchong seat which was at one time held by the late Dr V. David of DAP for two terms.
"Given the positive feedback, I am confident of a win," he said. - NST

I too hope and pray that you win but please don't be over confident. I am not worried about BN's dirty tactics.
I am only worried about the voters. There are many who hate BN like hell but will vote for it so as not to rock the boat. To some, corruption, abuse of power is acceptable. To many race comes before integrity and good governance. Oh Malaysian voters!
