PETALING JAYA: PKR has released a five-point manifesto themed “A New Dawn for Malaysia” which among others, promises a minimum RM1,500 salary for all Malaysians.
Its president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail said the minimum wage was necessary in line with the increasing cost of living. “Our vision is to also re-examine all concessions and monopolies and to restructure the market system to encourage price reductions, increases in quality and a steady and uninterrupted supply. “The manifesto describes how we will build a nation that reflects the true potential, talent, and calibre of the Malaysian people,” she said, when unveiling the four-language manifesto and the party’s website www.harapanmalaysia.com here yesterday. In its manifesto, PKR said it would bring in RM100bil in foreign investment within five years, encourage free and fair media, increase the economic growth rate to 8% and place the Anti-Corruption Agency under Parliament for more accountability. It also promises to increase security by having more mobile police stations and increasing the salaries of police personnel. PKR also aims to increase education standards and replace the New Economic Policy with an affirmative policy based on needs and not ethnicity. “Every race should be given the means to empower themselves and break away from poverty,” she added. PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also reiterated the party’s promise to reduce the price of fuel. - Star
