IPOH: Incumbent Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan is sticking fast to her decision not to contest in the general election.

In her blog (http://pokuan.blogsome.com), Fong said it was a tough decision.

I am unable to reconsider my decision of not to contest in this coming 12th General Election. I am sorry if I have disappointed you. I do hope you all will try to understand,” she said in her comments posted yesterday at 3.14pm.

She started her posting with an apology and stated she was unable to answer all calls, reply messages, e-mails and comments.

I do appreciate your views, criticisms, supports and encouragement,” she said.

Meanwhile, DAP strongman Lim Kit Siang has been unable to contact Fong as his phone calls have been unanswered.

I tried reaching her to persuade her to change her mind but she has been incommunicado,” the DAP stalwart told a press conference here yesterday.

The DAP adviser said the shocking announcement by Fong was a setback to the DAP but hoped that she would change her mind.

Yesterday, when asked if Fong, dubbed cili padi because of her fiery style, had confided the problems she faced in the party to him, Lim declined to elaborate.

My role as a party adviser is to ask her to reconsider,” he said.

The DAP, he added, would have to look at other options if Fong did not change her mind.

Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham, in a statement read out by DAP Socialist Youth chief Nga Kor Ming, said he regretted newspaper reports that had made out Fong as the victim of the DAP or its leaders. In Penang, party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng also said he would do all he can to persuade Fong.

We love Fong, and forcing her out would be like disowning a daughter,” he said, adding that he had tried to contact Fong but to no avail. - Star

She is a good MP, no doubt about this but her withdrawal and public annoucement at this critical time is very regretabable. She is very much aware that her action will bring negative consequences to the DAP and yet she chose to do that adamantly. It is time for DAP and the public to forget about her and focus on the election. DAP shall go on with or without her.

Maybe it got something to do with the BN...

maybe a C4 threat?

Anyway, this is an internal problem, DAP must be smart enough to solve it b4 the BN takes advantage of it....

It is regrettable that she still insist on her decision, after such overhelming persuasion! Just continue with your noble cause, all the opposition parties and those non-partisans who are serious to make a change in gonernment for a better tomorrow!

Maybe her newly-wed husband forced her not to contest. I heard some fortune-teller said she's a family-orientated woman. Whatever it is, I say DAP should move on fighting for fellow Malaysian cause instead of crying sad over Mrs. Tan's lost.

Together we deny BN 2/3 majority for Malaysia's prosperity.

JANGAN PANGKAH BN !

whether its personal or not...whatever the reason, her responsibility to the party has been let down, especially at a critical moment... whatever, she had done for the party and the people, this time around, she has let all of them down...

I can't think of anything negative to say about Po Kuan for she had been tremendously efficient and effective as an MP but to publicly announce her decision not to defend her BG seat at a time of a "mother of all elections" is most unwise regardless of what personal problem she may have. It will be hard for any thinking person to believe that she cares or love DAP. Some may even suspect her ulterior motives but I personally doubt that for she has proven her loyalty beyond any doubt. I wish Po Kuan all the best and thank you for all the sacrifices you have made for so many people like us.

Let's not waste our time taking about her. Let Najib and all BN leaders praise her for all I care. A war doesn't end or lost with the dead of one soldier. Her going into hiding indicates EVIL motives.
Let's move on to deny that Monster the 2/3 majority.

It's water under the bridge. DAP should stop wasting time and move on. Get a good candidiate to replace her. The whole scenario stinks and looks stage managed. Only time will tell if she has betrayed her supporters all over the country by sleeping with the enemy. One thing is certain, she has lost a lot of respect from those who supported her over the years. All the good she has done just evaporated overnight. DAP couldn't find a worst enemy.

Yeah, should not waste unnecessary resources on this issue and concentrate on the upcoming battle. Soldiers in the frontlines being relegated to the rear due to extreme battle fatigue is normal. But I do admire those who, no matter how tough it goes, still hang in there in the frontlines and fight what seems forever to be a losing battle. But there's a chance that this one won't be a losing battle. LKS and company, just concentrate on the battle ahead and let the battle fatigued people take a rest.

Po Kuan has had her taste as a wakil rakyat. She needs a break. Give her the break and move on. But DAP can still win Batu Gajah even if MCA were to put Ham Kah Chan there again.

DAP should say thanks for all the service rendered so far, but we have more IMPORTANT things to attend to at the moment.
She is good MP no doubt, but he timing for calling it quits is inexcusable.
I suggest DAP leadership to accept the fact and go on to plan the list with alternative candidates that would serve the nation and treat all Malaysians as equal.
I believe a person who is truly sincere is serving the nation will eventually find others means to serve or even decide to come back later and pick up where tehy left.
So Poh Kuan, thank you but sorry, now it is time to move on!

Dear Poh Kuan,

Whatever are your reasons for pulling out, thats your own personal choice. You have done a fntastic duty during your term and not even the BN rascals can deny that. Your pulling out has put a smile on their face which directly shows that they (BN) have great respect for you.

What ever was your decision to withdraw from the election I will not question it but I would like to ask you Poh Kuan one simple question. Dont you think that the timing stinks????

Your withdrawal should have come earlier even before the Paliament was desolved wherein you should have stated clearly that you wont seek reelection. You have provided the opposition with ammunition to send wild rumours about the problems inthe party thus putting the party itself in a bad light.

What you have done is a "Lee Lam Thye". What ever were your motives or speculations like being bought over etc etc... remains a mystery. What we can do is just bury it.

I do not respect you for that. You have let us the supporters of a new balance Government down.

To the party leadership, I can only say this. No one is indispensible. Move on guys. Lets give the UMNOputeras and their loyal gogs hell of a fight. These guys are so scared that they have already taken all the hot spots to plant their flags of death. Lets fly the rockets up their ass!!!

Ruling BN never show 'Compassion & Love' anymore.

Ruling BN ignored us , even water- canon us, teared-gas us,..

What to do, you asked , as your ' tears flow down in pain.'

Simple, just vote the ruling BN out.

‘…In fact, the battle cry for all Malaysians in the 12th general election should be “Heal Malaysia”…’

Bravo.

Stay focus.

“Our understanding is to ensure one-on-one fights and deny Barisan a two-thirds majority,”

Now finally we have ‘ Unity ‘ , ” One common struggle, One Voice & One Spirit “.

Syabas to Barisan Rakyat (DAP/PKR/PAS/PSM/MDP/PASOK ).

Time for action , no more complacency.

Whatever , the show must goes on.
With or without Fong we cannot wait just for one person.
She is an adult, let her decides.
She made a sudden decision at the very last minute and we dont know her real reason/s.If she wants to come back, she can always wait for the next by election.
We cant let just one person to spoil the whole thing.

All parties will have some problems, all candidates will have some problems same goes with all voters , we all have problems. But the show must goes ON.

It is better for those still not decided as to who or which party to vote for, please decides now.

Come guys, be easy on Po Kuan......she's experiencing an emotional breakdown due to marriage crisis. She should have stayed single. Maybe the money for dropping this bombshell will come in handy for her to start her nest.

Semua barang naik harga! Nw she can afford fine dining.......hmmmmm....

Po Kuan is obviously highly emotional, and fiery and passionate though she might be to earn the nickname "cilipadi", she obviously does not have the depth to place the Nation and its future before her owns frustrations.

Win the seat and with a resounding majority and then ... table talk freely with the DAP leadership ! If what she says has an iota of truth in it, then the DAP should put its own house in order - but AFTER the 2008 elections, not before. None of us should place ourselves before our beloved NATION, Malaysia !

Po Kuan just got married. She will want to set up a family and have children and time is not on her side she's already in her mid thirties. She cannot have a family and continue as a wakil rakyat. It's not surprising she quit.

Chidish Young Girl behaving like a spoiled brat . Grow Up , this is politics ,if you want to serve the people you must be prepared to take all those back stabbing , criticisms , foul mouth . spitting thrown at you as if they are nothing . Your skin on your face must be thick enough even to deflect a bullet and don't care what others say about you . In this way you can survive otherwise when you let your emotions run your brain you are gonna be another small girl who can talk pretty well in parliament and that's is what you are right now . Looks like you are very weak in substance inside you and I think you better change for the better or you want those people who offended you to come kneeling down in front of you to say sorry??? Spoilt Brat???

Maybe I might be wrong to think that you purposely created this issue so as not to contest simply because someone or somebody has transfered some $$$$$$$$$ to ??????account so that you'll be retiring happily without having to worry about money . You know $$$$$$$$$$$$$ make the world go round and $$$$$$$$$ is not a problem to them , winning seats to them right now is more important . I hope if this is the case you better change cause this karma will come to haunt you in the form of your conscience chillipadi and you have betrayed the people who voted for you . CHANGE!!!!
