We, a group of concerned Malaysian Indians residing in California, held a peaceful rally in front of the Consulate General of Malaysia, Los Angeles, on February 16, 2008 from 10am to 2pm to protest the following issues:

1. To demand equal rights for the minority Malaysian Indians

2. To demand the Malaysian government immediately stops the demolition of Hindu temples

3. To demand that the Malaysian government immediately release Mr. Uthayakumar, Mr. Manoharan, Mr. Ganabathirau, Mr. Kengadharan and Mr. Vasanthakumar.

The rally was a complete success with about 50 people attending. The participants comprised of people from all walks of life, and included Dr. Mihir Meghani, the president of the Hindu American Foundation, who came together to show solidarity with our Malaysian Indian brothers and sisters.

We were saddened to hear of the high-handed and brutal action of the Malaysian police in the arrest of the Malaysian Indians participating in the Roses Rally held in Kuala Lumpur on February 16, 2008. We condemn the arrogance of the police in using violence to suppress an unarmed, innocent and peaceful gathering who were there to do nothing more than show their love for the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Such action is unbecoming of a civilized nation or practioners of Islam Hadhari. We call upon the international community to censure the Malaysian government for the use of excessive force.

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants of this rally for their kind attendance and enthusiastic support. I also would like to personally thank Dr. Meghani and the Hindu American Foundation for their strong support of the Malaysian Indian cause. Lastly, I again call upon the Malaysian government to fulfill our three demands immediately.

Sincerely,

Bhuvan Govindasamy

This is serious stuff, if you ask me! Unfortunately, the people at large in Malaysia will not be privy to the LA Rose Rally because the mainstream media will not cover it. Any UMNO/BN that are resident spies of MT, please, please communicate this to AAB, KJ and whoever else that have interest in this country, whether it for the right or the wrong reasons, if you get my drift.

This is embarrassing, it is unprecedented that our country's dirty linens is being washed in public, what more in the USA. Wake up and smell the coffee BN!!

Well Done,

Thanks for helping to spread awareness of enslavement of the peoples by the ruling politicians operating on a racist platforms for self-gain.

Racial nationalism should never be tolerated anywhere by anybody.
(our politicians know how to build buldings, but they have the intellect of a pygmy when it comes to social and emotional intelligence)

InEffective,

Correction : ..."but they have the intellect of a pygmy...". I think the pygmies have brains far more superior than our leaders from the BN.

The only 'social and emotional intelligence' our politicians possess revolves around their becoming richer and richer.

Well done ! To Hindraf's oversea supporters, well wishers and fellow Malaysian.Even those who did not supports Hindraf did turned up against I.S.A and demands for justice.
It is not easy to organise such solidarity especially when abroad and in a vast country such as in USA. But , they turned up !

We dares the IGP Tan Shit musang to airlift his squad of FRU with water cannons and tear gases there !

It is so very obvious that something is wrong and bn failed to fix it.
They are NOT interested to fix anything as they knows they are ones who will returns in power.

Hopefully our "Chemical Alis" and their bosses can learn a little from the rallies that went on so smoothly without any problems in so many cities all over the world and note that there was no apparent urgency by the Authorities in those cities to launch the chemical laced water cannon with utmost haste on its own citizens.

All said and done, the rallies have not placed Malaysia " as truly Asia" anymore. The world is much more wiser now and we must thank BN and Badawi for having brought Malaysia into such a limelight which our Tourism Department could not manage.

After this can we have the 'moral' grounds to comment on matters that go on in other countries like we have been doing in the past. our Foreign Minister was always over ready to vent his comments to the Press on various issues about and on various countries as if though Malaysia was the epitome of democracy and human rights. Now, as Nadeswaran used to say in the SUN daily, there is a deadly silence in the Foreign Ministry. Can we blame BERSIH and HINDRAF for that ????
