DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang says the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal revealed the government’s plan to suppress information.

He said the report proves that the Cabinet has been lying to the people about the scandal which could cost taxpayers RM12.453 billion.

“The prime minister, the deputy prime minister and the Cabinet are all putting up a great pretense as if they are learning about the abuse of power, criminal breach of trust, illegalities and improprieties in various aspects of the PKFZ scandal for the first time when most of this information has been in their possession for quite some time,” he told a press conference.

Lim said the PAC should have also issued a “damning report” against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police for failing to uphold the law.

“If the government is really serious as claimed by Najib and Muhyiddin in wanting to get to the bottom of the PKFZ scandal, the various errant personalities would already have been hauled to court and standing trial for a multitude of criminal offences,” he said.

The PAC yesterday recommended that former Transport Minister Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy and former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager Datin Paduka O.C. Phang to be investigated for criminal breach of trust in the PKFZ scandal.

Lim also asked why Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan has not taken any action after heading the special task force into the PKFZ scandal in 2007.

“The Chief Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, now heading the special task force into the PFKZ scandal, was directed by the Cabinet to conduct an inquiry as to how the letters of support could have been issued unlawfully and to take the necessary disciplinary action against the culprits who have now landed the country with the RM12.5 billion PKFZ scandal,” he said.

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng revealed that 90 per cent of the buildings in PKFZ do not have any certification of fitness (CF).

He urged the government to freeze Chan and Phang’s local and overseas assets.

It's a strange phenomenon that happens in Malaysia very often, and it's called selective prosecution.

Mind you, alleged misused of RM2,500 by the opposition Selangor individuals were promptly, if not immediately investigated by the full might of the MACC and PDRM while the alleged (and if not clear) misused of funds by the government's proxies and cronies for useless overseas trips, overzealous palaces, money politics and a whole lot of other alleged offences and crimes are overlooked.

Perhaps they are trying to sweep the 'dirt' under the carpet till the whole fiasco are forgotten over time - another of Malaysián's phenomenon of short memory!!???

Only in Malaysia, truly Asia.

Of course we know the government lies or may be the better word would be to hide the truth from the rakyat. If it was no so why have so many laws like the OSA, ISA, Printing Presses act and so forth. The laws are there to protect the people who walk the corridors of power.

Yes, I think it's pretty obvious there's a high level effort to suppress the truth of the PKFZ scandal.
There are definitely bigger fishes than Chan Kong Choy!!

The gomen has no choice but to suppress otherwise Mamakutty and the many in UMNO n MCA will have to commit hara kiri as the rakyat will want the money returned with interest and harsh action taken to serve as a deterrent. Of course this 'hand in the cookie jar' gomen will be unable to determine any wrong doings. They may probably be 'investigating' till kingdom come, until all these Corrupts have become worms in their graves.

Our last three Prime Ministers are as compromised as HELL. It is impossible to charge anyone and not charge all three Prime Ministers. They all had explicit knowledge of and involvement in the PKFZ rape.

when the dust settles, the roots of this multi-billion embezzlement will be the umno cabinet ministers.

The chinese political cockroach ministers are only the front-tools for this elaborate state-funds expropriation scheme. (they get some millions for their coolie-enabler roles).

No way billions can be laundered and taken out of the treasury without umno politicians sanctions.
