(Bernama) - Two representatives of Sisters in Islam (SIS) gave their statements to Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today on a police report lodged against SIS in Kuantan over the Kartika Sari Dewi Soekarno issue.

SIS executive director Hamidah Marican and its board member Zainah Anwar were called in to give their statements for an investigation under Section 4(i) (a) of the Sedition Act by the CID at 10.35am.

The two, accompanied by lawyers, spent almost two hours at the CID’s legal prosecution division, according to SIS Programme Manager (Research and Publications) Masjaliza Hamzah.

“SIS hopes that after recording these statements, the police will recommend that no further action be taken against the organisation. We would like to reiterate that within the framework of a democratic society, there must be an open, responsible, rational and respectful dialogue on Islam and its impact on our lives both private and public,” she said in a statement here.

According to media reports, 14 non-governmental organisations in Pahang in referring to a local newspaper report of a press conference held on Sept 30, urged the authorities to punish those who questioned Kartika’s caning sentence.

Kartika, who is the first woman to be sentenced to caning for the offence of consuming alcohol, has consented to the punishment and is waiting for it to be carried out.

Kartika was recently fined RM5,000 and ordered to caned six times by the Kuantan Syariah High Court after she pleaded guilty of the offence at a hotel in Kuantan last year.

All women stand up and Reject gender politics in Malaysia, where the men in Barisan Najis seek to Oppress the women, and let all the male scoundrels get away with it, while tarnishing the image of upright gentlemen in Malaysia. Now these scoundrels are using the Pariah police to intimidate SIS and other women's organizations into submission.

All Ladies, Reject and Vote Out the sexist Barisan Najis and support Pakatan Rakyat for a Just & Equal Malaysia !

Just address this issue above and beyond politics, and you will find that Malaysia's version of 'Islam' as crafted by the so-called JAKIM, JAIS and whatnot, is mired in ignorance and gender-lashing.

For how long can Muslims in Malaysia continue to call themselves as moderate Muslims in the eyes of the islamic world community?

In this era of globalization, Malaysia's Islam is reckoned to equate to those era of medieval times.

This only reflects the level of maturity and evolutionary consciousness of the Muslims in Malaysia. They are still living in the Age of Ignorance.

How pathetic!

And the highest number of rape cases including incest cases are from the east coast. Bloody extremist idiots.

By allowing muslims to be subjected to syariah law, the politicians have just open a huge loophole whereby muslims are not only govenred by the statem but also by the MUFTI's.
While civil law is scrutinised in parliament before it is passed, syariah law depend on the person in charge of religious affairs and different state has different set of laws.
During the time of british, syariah law was limited to family matters, like marriage and inheritance. Why can't we retain this.
If a person is caught for theiving, and is a muslim, will he be subjected to two sets of punishement? That means jail, rotan, amputation and maybe a fine?

This particular religion is baffling. Any punishments are directed to the woman, and the woman only! While the womenfolk are punished, the men roam free. What is the lesson to be learned here? It is unfortunate to be born a woman?!! What a load of bull****!
