Anwar to MACC: Not just small fry, go after big fish too PDF Print

(The Star) - Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is backing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) crackdown on corrupt politicians but wants them to pursue more “high profile” cases as well.

Commending the MACC for charging leaders from both sides of the political divide, Anwar said the Commission should use its authority to investigate high profile corruption cases that have been ignored.

“But they should not stop acting against corrupt lower ranking leaders either,” he told reporters in a press conference at the Parliament lobby here on Tuesday, in reference to a slew of politicians being charged with graft on Tuesday.

He said the MACC had been entrusted with a major responsibility to combat corruption and had to be independent.

He said the MACC’s image and credibility had been tarnished by the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock, who was found dead at the building housing the Selangor MACC office the day after he was taken in for questioning as a witness in an MACC probe.

The MACC cannot redeem itself based on a large number of low-profile anti-graft cases, but must go after higher-profile cases, Anwar said.

“There is evidence to support our contention that corruption is more rampant than ever,” he claimed.

“It is therefore incumbent on the MACC to apply its authority and act on high profile cases that have been largely swept aside,” he said, citing as examples defence deals and the Port Klang Free Zone issue.

“Corruption must be tackled at its very root or centre of power,” he added.

DSAI,

But MACC is mostly into investigating cars and cows ..... not into the big league yet !

Then again, these pariahs are never independent because their master, UMNO put them on a leash.

Start by investigating Khir Toyo on how he manage to build his Balinese castle and whether or not he paid all the due taxes, during his tenure as a politician.

DSAI, when you break your silence , you are just asking for the impossibles....BUT.... yes if it means going after DAP,PAS and PKR Aduns and MPs and YOU Sir are BIG FISH to the UMNO/BN machineries !!!!

Ketuanan Melayu excludes all non-UMNO members !!!

The real little frys will be those from the component parties and these frys are dispensables as and whenever necessary.

Chua S.L. will make a better puppet on a string than mediocre Liow T.L. but they will be disposed off when their usefulness is depleted !!

Thank you Anwar for voicing this out..of course you need to say something to show you are important, even though everyone is absolutely sure your statement will make no difference to MACC.

If Malaysians want our institutions which have been corrupted by UMNO to function as they should, Malaysians will have to get rid of UMNO.

Even while we are cursing the many indisputable cases of corruption revealed by the AG, we have Najib wanting to pay RM22 million to whoever it is, for the GST consultation.

Trim the administration, send the corrupt, big n small to jail, and if the country is still broke, then come to us, even the poor will be willing to saxcrifice.

Until and unless, you have pluck the gapping holes, don't ask the poor to contribute. Just increase the tax on the rich, who are the main beneficiaries of the corrupt practices government anyway.

Malaysians, take heed. We have to save Malaysia and there is only one way to save Malaysia, get rid of UMNO/BN. Don't believe all the bullshit of Najib. Have courage to save our own ass. Get rid of UMNO.Only the brave succeed.
