Banyak pihak menjemput beliau menjadi aktivis mereka.

Namun ketika dihubungi, Dr Asri enggan mengulas lanjut.

Salam all,

Personally I think Dr Asri, being a gentleman he is, pious and god-fearing should be a leader for all malaysians and not only muslims. Such a person should benefit all Malaysians, with the likes of distinguished statesmen YAB Guan Eng, TS Lee Lam Thye, Chee Koon and Tun Razak (in no particular order)to name a few.

Dr Asri should champion and stand for all Malaysians.

I hope he does not join any party. He is doing great by staying neutral and giving advise when it is necessary.

Dr Asri is useful only if UMNO takes his advice. But as we all know, UMNO does not stand for justice, morality, muliracialism and good governance. If he joins a party other than a BN party, he would be lambasted and made an enemy.

So, he might as well join a PR party. Forget about Mamak Kutty. Don't believe a word he says.

Yes, Dr Asri shuld stay neutral - for the benefit of the nation. Otherwise, he would be manipulated by media, UMNO etc.

He seems to have a good standing among many malaysians and it would be great to see him standing alone without an organisation behind him. I believe he can do it, provided he is not blanked out by the mass media. Wonder if it would be practical.

If not mistaken, didn't he been forced out of his post as Perlis Mufti by the party which rule the state now because of his opinion on certain issues? If so, then why he should consider to join that party? However, if he stand to be neutral and his opinions can't be accepted or be implemented, then he will forever be frustrated for unfulfillment of his ideas and be pushed out for his ideas that don't side to the power that be!

No need la to join politics. You want to be stained like that ex-imam fellow? Stay political party free la. Then your voice will be better heard. Especially when you have to point out where people have gone wrong eg. canning for drinking. Ini betul ka punya ruling? So can you be someone independent that we can all depend on??

Based on the comments by Dr Asri as reported above, I believe he is more inclined to accept Tun Mahathir's advice, given that his response towards Harun Taib's invitation is rather diplomatic. If Mahathir invites him to join UMNO and he later asks for Harun Taib's advice, that would be a different story altogether.

Hopefully so Dr Asri keep on neutral. But is up to him if he want to involve in politics. We are human on this earth and intangibly binds to political matters. All the State Muftis (remain cowards in Malaysia should emulate Dr. Asri. Dr. didn't count who you are, whether you're government or opposition, whether you're apparatus or apparatchik of government.

Malaysia need people like Raja Petra (aka RPK) and Dr. Asri. The both is good breed of thinker. People in Malaysia like or similar to them are really rare.

To governments (Umno/BN), may you don't affraid to Dr. Asri, if you think that you're right and never doing bad. But if you (government)so, means that you restore "POLICE STATE" on Malaysia land.

To all Dr. Asri comrades, includes me, unity we stand together we fall with Dr. Asri. Keep on blogging, liberty wait on your fingers smilies/grin.gif
