If the Everly Brothers’ hit ‘Dream, Dream, Dream’ is to encourage people to dream dreams as it’s a good and healthy exercise, then politician Gabriel Adit has to be counted in as a disciple of the singing brothers, one of the 60’s more popular artistes.  In fact, it is learnt that Adit is quite a crooner himself and he could easily belt out the Everly Brothers’ (left) evergreen hit.
 The Malaysian Mirror understands that the Ngemah state assemblyman is now dreaming of returning home – in the comfort of the Barisan Nasional home, that is.

Gabriel Adit's (right) speculated dream of returning to the family of the BN has been shot down by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president James Masing. According to Masing’s aide and PRS supreme council member Tedewin Ngumbang, his party chief and PRS are against Adit returning to the BN either by joining any of the existing BN components or through the formation of his own party that will eventually seek to join the ruling coalition. Under the BN understanding, there must be unanimous consent from all BN components before a new party can be admitted as a BN member. “We will oppose his return in whatever form,” Tedewin said, pointing out that in Ngemah, Adit is no longer popular. PRS, he said, was jilted by Adit soon after the party was formed following the deregistration of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) in October 2004. “We begged him to join us. Instead he joined Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party. When SPDP could not submit his name to contest the Ngemah constituency in the 2006 state election, he resigned and contested as an independent. New party plan hit a snag? “After winning the seat, he joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat. Now he wants to resign from PKR,” Tedewin said. Speculations are rife that Adit may return to the State BN through a component party in the BN. He is said to be ‘abang adek’ with SPDP treasurer general and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing. Tiong has been mentioned as one of the funders for Adit’s proposed new party, Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia. But the Malaysian Mirror can reveal that Adit’s plan to set up the new party has met with some obstacles, one of which is the lack of support from ex-PBDS members.  Meanwhile, James Masing told the press that Adit has lost his credibility by jumping from one party to another.
“Adit has made one jump too many,” he said, adding that party hopping would definitely bring about negative consequences for any politician. Masing said that Adit should have chosen to join PRS instead of SPDP as the Ngemah seat belonged to PRS in accordance with an agreement that PRS would contest all seats won by the defunct PBDS. “If only Adit joined us before, the Ngemah seat would still be his. He maight have his reason not to joing us five years ago,” said Masing who is also Sarawak Land Development Minister. William Mawan says ‘okay’ Commenting on the same subject, SPDP president William Mawan said that the state BN should accept Adit into any political party of his choice. “Since he is the current state assemblyman for Ngemah, Adit’s presence with the BN will be a boost for the State BN,” he said. Asked for his comments, PBB deputy president Abang Johari Tun Openg said that Adit was leaving PKR because the party was breaking up. “Adit’s move is expected as the party has not been able to meet the needs of the people of Sarawak. “On the other hand, the Barisan Nasional has been able to do that,” Abang Jo said.
