The MACC’s image is now dirtier than drain water, after Teoh Beng Hock’s death and the probe into suspected abuse of funds in the Selangor government. Even before the MACC came into being, its predecessor the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) never had great success in the courts or its investigations.

THE MALAYSIAN INSIDER

By all accounts, Datuk Seri Najib Razak tabled a solid Budget 2010, one that attempts to cut the deficit while ensuring all sectors get their due.

There were some nice touches — particularly for students and expatriates, their families, farmers, office workers, and a few others. Even heroes have their allowances raised five times. No one was left out.

Even the corrupt will get their due, when the prime minister announced with the formation of 14 Special Corruption Sessions Courts and four special Corruption Appeal High Courts.

Currently, there are only two special courts in Kuala Lumpur and two more in Shah Alam, according to Najib, who said the anti-graft measures are part of the National Key Result Areas (NKRAs).

Najib, who is also finance minister, said efforts to enhance the image of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) would be carried out. These include organising international conferences on combating corruption, awareness campaigns through the mass media, as well as promoting better public relations.

This is really where money is going down the drain, Mr Prime Minister.

Two names come to mind. Tan Sri Eric Chia and Tan Sri Kasitah Gaddam. Both acquitted despite the claims by former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi of taking on the Herculean task of cleaning up the Stygian stables of corruption.

The MACC has not done much in this regard. And creating more courts or boosting the image of the anti-graft body will not bear any fruit.

All the MACC has to do is seriously investigate cases like the suspect wealth and opulence shown by the likes of former Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Khir Toyo, with his travels and mansion. Look into past cases of abuse like the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) or simply pore through Auditor-General’s annual reports.

The master of all trickery at his best. The credit card bank charges equates to credit card scams...just a legalised form of being a robber.

Our oil runs out in 2017, in about 7 years time. We must permit BN to find creative ways to swipe money from our all us before they hand over reign of government to opposition. IF must improve image MACC is one way to swipe money o be it, never mind that it is blatant to all of us that BN is stealing the country's money. BN is no longer afarid of telling us they are staeling our money because BN knows we the rakyat do not do anything about it. Come 2020, Malaysia will be sending their people to Indonesia and Phillipines and Thailand as maids and labourers. Too far fetch! Lets see who is right.

there is a new field called Gumusut which will come on stream in couple of year and will pump one third of what is produced today, oil will not run out yet. There are couple more of oil fields in the pipe line.

as for MACC, just look at the leader. MACC is a BN component arm.

the new special courts are meant for PR not BN or other crooks. It is to speed up the demise of PR assemblymen and MPs.

MACC is the most degrading anti corruption agency in the whole world.Never before have we heard of any gomen which forces false evidence down the throats of the ordinary rakyat. How do you force people to believe Teoh committed suicide when he had such clear evidence of strangulation marks on his throat? This is like treating the ordinary rakyat has no intelligence! The BN murderers treat us like idiots! The rakyat must stand up and tell the government in the next general elections we also have intelligence.

MACC has been doing all the ultra-dirty jobs for UMNO.

Do you really think they will leave it behind? Keep dreaming.

Ask yourself. If you are a Mafia boss. Would you let your killer assassin get caught and sentenced to death?

Hey Najis, the corrupt court should first clean up many Cabinet Ministers. As long as the top leaders are dirtier than muddy water, corruption is here to stay.
No need to attend seminar on corruption. If you are intent on cleaning corruption, get the help from Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. they are close neighbours and we need not spend so much time and money flying to a far away country and come back with nothing

MACC is basically an organisation looking at 'white collar crime'. So all they haave to do is to investigate corruption by painstakingly looking at all evidence, elicit documentary proof professionally without layin a hand on the accused. There is no need for strong arm tactics to elicit confession under torture and close the case. There is absolutely no need for MACC to use force to obtain evidence. If they want to carry on doing what they are doing now, they might as well surrender their duties to the Police who are experts at it. Abolish MACC and save the government some money and the rakyat the torture both mental and physical.

It is a GREAT budget?

Honestly.... it was demeaning when
1. Singaporeans can be taxed 15% working in iskandar when the population get the celebrated 1% reduction ( for the highest bracket).
2. Oh, 30 students will get a merit based scholarship .. finally ... against 2000 non merit based scholarships.
3. You have to pay tax for disposing of assets from 2010.

Anyway, i wonder who will attend MACC conferences.....
