Tsu Koon – what a weak and panicky start as Gerakan’s No. 1 in immediately buckling under pressure  by Umno Youth leader to take disciplinary action against Paranjothy who dared to speak publicly what others only muttered privately

What a weak and panicky start for Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon as Gerakan’s No. 1 – immediately buckling under pressure by Umno Youth leader, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to take disciplinary action against the Gerakan Youth vice chief S. Paranjothy who dared to speak publicly what others only muttered privately. – that the 30,000 Indians who took part in the Hindraf demonstration in Kuala Lumpur on November 25 did so to express their frustration and anger because the community had been “marginalized, oppressed and ignored”.

Paranjothy had also blamed, and rightly, Umno leaders, particularly the Umno Youth Leader Hishammuddin and Deputy Umno Youth Leader Khairy Jamaluddin for racial posturing and inciting racial sentiments among Malays to gain political mileage – citing as examples the keris-wielding episodes against the former and the public castigation of the Indian news vendors by the latter when the Umno presidential address of Prime Minister and Umno President, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was not carried in the press the next day as Umno general assembly fell on Deepavali, with the next day an annual press holiday.

There can be no doubt that if a private vote had been taken among the Gerakan leaders, in fact, even MCA and MIC leaders, all would have agreed with the sentiments expressed by Paranjothy!

Hishammuddin had immediately issued an ultimatum to Tsu Koon with the threat of severance of ties with Gerakan not only by Umno Youth but also by Barisan Nasional unless Tsu Koon could give a satisfactory response and explanation.

What was Tsu Koon reaction? Although he protested that “it is not right” for Hishammuddin to issue the threat and ultimatum of severance of all relationships with Gerakan, Tsu Koon clearly panicked, which was why he complied instantly by referring Paranjothy to the Disciplinary Committee and even anticipated the disciplinary process by saying that the Gerakan Youth vice chief would be suspended or expelled! Nanyang Siang Pau’s headline today is “Gerakan to sack Paranjothy”!

Is Barisan Nasional a coalition of equals of 14 political parties?

Could the Youth leader of Gerakan, MCA, MIC, PPP or any other component party issue a threat or ultimatum  to the Umno President, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in the manner Hishammuddin had done to Tsu Koon?

Isn’t this itself a breach of Barisan Nasional discipline and what is Tsu Koon doing about it – just swallow it and pretend it has not happened?

Or does George Orwell’s Animal Farm dictum, that “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others” reign supreme in Barisan Nasional?

Is this why even Khairy as deputy Umno Youth leader could publicly insult and humiliate Tsu Koon as Penang Chief Minister and Gerakan No. 2 last year accusing the Gerakan Penang State Government of “marginalizing” the Malays in Penang, and  “facing the same fate of being marginalised as the Malays in Singapore”?

Did the Gerakan leadership issue an ultimatum demanding a satisfactory explanation from the top Umno leadership over Khairy’s breach of Barisan Nasional discipline with the threat of severance of ties between Gerakan and UMNO?

If Khairy was not guilty of any breach of Barisan Nasional discipline in his open criticism of Tsu Koon, why should Paranjothy’s open criticism of Hishammuddin and Khairy be such gross breach of discipline that Tsu Koon is talking publicly about expulsion? Isn’t this just kowtowing to Umno Youth?

When the five Hindraf leaders, P. Uthayakumar, V. Ganabathirau, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan and T. Vasanthakumar were detained under the Internal Security Act on 13th December 2007, Tsu Koon provided instant support on the same day declaring that the Prime Minister-cum-Internal Security Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, must have compelling reasons to invoke the draconian Internal Security Act (ISA).

Tsu Koon and the Gerakan leadership also fully supported the infamous Operation Lalang mass arrests under the ISA and the series of assaults on the independence and integrity of the judiciary by the executive in the past 19 years, starting with the 1988 “mother” of judicial crisis with the arbitrary sacking of Tun Salleh Abas as Lord President and Datuk George Seah and the late Tan Sri Wan Suleiman Pawanteh as Supreme Court judges.

What has happened to Gerakan’s claim as the “conscience” of Barisan Nasional?

Lim Kit Siang

Lets see if if this Paranjothy has got more guts then Koh and that slime ball pengecut Devamani. Will Paranjothy hold on to his principles? But it doesnt matter...Penang now is firmly destined to fall....the opposition may not have to do much because, thanks to HINDRAF, Koh Tsu Koon is well on the way in commiting harakiri.

Here's the story about the Master and his dogs.

Once upon a time, there existed a land called Bodohland, where the Master lived happily with his dogs. Everyday when the Master had his meals, he would call his dogs around him. When he was about to finish his chicken drumsticks, he threw the residue drumsticks to the ground so that the dogs would pick them up and feed on the residue. After the meals, the dogs would circle around the Master, waving their tails to show their gratitude and liking to their Master. They would stand, sit or sleep whenever their Master asked them to. However, one day, a dog stole its Master's meal out of hunger. Unfortunately, the Master found that out and Bang! He killed it with a shot. So that was the end for this particular dog. The other dogs, seeing that happen, were frightened but could not do anything except continuing to be submissive and loyal to their Master. They had to continue with their life and forget what happened to their mate, as long as their life was still good. The Master continued to be mean and cruel to the dogs, and one day, God could no more tolerate this Master and sent Knight Lightning and Knight Thunder to kill this Master. Without their Master to depend on, the dogs ran away to other houses and managed to find other masters who were caring and gentle. After that, the dogs lived happily ever after.

That is the story of the Master and his dogs. Oh dear, those dogs!

Double standards by Gerakan. When Toh Kin Woon criticised the government on the ISA's issue, nothing happened to him. But when Paranjothy made the remarks, action is taken on him. Indian is being victimized not only by Umno but by Gerakan itself.

Koh Tsu Koon is a nice guy, but unfortunately he ranks far below Hishammudin or even worse if you compare to Khairy in the political pecking order.

Good luck, Tan Sri. The only conclusion will be sacking Paranjothy. Otherwise, the hounds of Umno Youth will not stop.

How come Hisham didn't get party’s disciplinary when he was two years in a row raised statements that has stirred up some unpleasantness in the community and Barisan Nasional by rasing Kris and declared Ketuanan for the Malay?

Isn't that double standard?

If the BN wanted to discipline Paranjathy, let start with Hisham first.

I feel it's highly inappropriate for Paranjothy to say that Indians are fourth class citizen. They are clearly third class citizens while the fourth class is exclusive for Semi Value, handicapped hamster, obese swine and wild roaming mongrel alike. Shame.

HisHamMudim ... jus proved the BN arrogance ..... so dear component parties we from the opposition can view your "small" n "inflated" position in BN

UMNO had been cowing their component parties into submission ..... but on the surface claiming that they are the legitimately elected representative of the races ..... mmmmm ... food for thought gentlemans

Well, LKS has been right all along. Remember he lamented that Penang had a soft Chief Minister and he promised them Robocop? Too bad it did not find traction with Penangites. But seriously, even if the slogan or the mascot wasn't right at that time, the message has to be the correct one, and is now proven again to stand the test of time. Penangites should give thought to letting the opposition run it for a change. There is much indication that the opposition will be only too eager to show how Malays, nay, any race in Penang won't be marginalised, and they won't be held back by the straight jacket called component party discipline to do what is right.

this proved the point, gerakan is jus another dog under the "U Must Not Oppose" party!!so where is the so call sharing of power concept??this is a very clear manifestaion of the BN reality, jus like mic,mca n others..gerakan is jus another rubber stamp for the umno goons to rob the rakyat big time!Dog. Koh must hav been wet all over his under wear, but at least, paranjothy has the guts to reveal the truth!read what that uneducated educational minister's statement on the issue, the arrogant contents reflect the fact that all the other BN components are actually jus being treated as political beggars/dogs,only allowed to carry out "stuns n barks" as per umno's requirement at the master's whims n fancy;n they call it nation building in their most constructive manner!pathetic.

Well said LKS. This Koh guy has no dang balls. Why be head of a party that sucks up to BN? If the rest of the members of Gerakan want to salvage its name, they have to take disciplinary act on this Koh guy and boot him out of the party.

My point is, Koh & co should join BN - kerismudin must be laughing his keris off. One ultimatum and this clown takes disciplinary action against his own party member. And you want such idiots to be your leaders? We have a surplus of idiots as leaders. What a laughing stock the Gerakan have made themselves to be.

Give Tsu Koon a chance and await the outcome of the Discipline Committee findings.
The finding may well be that Paranjothy be vindicated for he express true view of the situation.
They may even (privately) recommend that he be promoted.

Hishammudin Hussein is neither the president of UMNO nor the head of BN, and he issued a challenge to severe tie with a component party, which he had no authority to do so, and yet PM AAB had adopted his elegant silence. Are we to believe that AAB had lost his authority as both the President of UMNO, and Head of BN?

So the next general assembly either you kick out this timid ball carrier or Gerakan will slowly see its deminish to become a sunset party. Uncle lim you have choose a wrong man again.
