PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub today warned there could be provocation by groups masquerading as PAS supporters or members as the clock ticks closer to polling for the Bagan Pinang contest on Sunday.

Salahuddin said at an emergency press conference today these rogue members are believed to be planning to move around in motorcycle groups, carrying the party's flags and donning PAS T-shirts.

"(They) intend to provoke and will use PAS symbols with the intention of tarnishing the image of PAS.

"We now state that these are not from PAS," said Salahuddin, who heads the party's election machinery here.

The Kubang Kerian member of parliament was expecting the group to reveal itself from tonight ahead of voting on Sunday.

According to Salahuddin, from experience, these provocateurs could either stir up trouble by gathering in Chinese-majority areas, shouting "Allah Huakhbar" and revving their vehicle engines.

Salahuddin said they received the information from "a very trusted source" and has since lodged a police report at the Port Dickson district police station, in a bid to rope in the police to prevent possible tensions.

When pressed, another PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar claimed PAS obtained the information from groups within the Umno election machinery.

On PAS election machinery's strategy in dealing with such groups, Salahuddin said "our campaign staff will be busy with election duties".

Meanwhile, PAS Youth Chief Nasruddin Hassan Tantawi pre-empted an anticipated distribution of a flier, believed to bear the PAS Youth wing's letterhead and Nasruddin's alleged forged signature.

Nasruddin said the flier will purportedly state his apology for "incidents of provocation and violence" that took place in the last two to three days and will mention that he was under pressure from DAP and Pakatan Rakyat (PR) to apologise.

"This is tactics by desperate people and those who want to tarnish the image of PAS," Nasruddin said.

Bagan Pinang voters will cast their ballots on Sunday, choosing between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad and PAS candidate Zulkefly Mohamad Omar.

The state constituency has 13,664 voters, of which 8,577 or 62.77% are Malays, 1,498 (10.96%) Chinese, 2,834 (20.74%) Indians and others, 755 (5.54%).

The figure includes 4,604 postal voters, who had cast their ballots on Oct 8 and 9.

Why Umno is in desperation? This surely indicates that Umno is only strong among its members but not amongst the general public/voters. Who says Umno will win?

Desperate people do desperate things. These are the people who are supposedly in charge of the country. UMNO wins and the country looses.... big time. People will wake up sooner or later. When they do, I don't want to anywhere near UMNO. It's going to be a very angry mob.

PAS must chop off those 'leaders' who turn off the non-Malays by their rhetoric nonsense.
PAS cannot win so many parlimentary and state seats unless it gets the 'kafir' supporters on its side. This IS A FACT. Religion aside, show some gratitude, like what MB Nizar did.
He publicly acknowledged the fact. So his supporters' base is HUGE!

It's time PAS recognises & acknowledges that without non-Malays' support, it can never have a chance of being in the ruling federal govt.

For the next GE, rakyat must be educated to look at the big picture. Don't be swayed by promises of development (rapement), sweet talk, clean longkang, new bridges, new streetlights. People must realise, providing all the infrastructure is the job the govt is paid to do. It is their fcuking job to take care of you, YOU OWE THE GOVT NOTHING.

I have studied Umno Baru's psychological profile very closely since 1986 when Mahathir retained his post against Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's challenge by a mere 43 votes (allegedly by buying over Umno divisison chiefs at the last minute). This resulted in Umno being declared illegal by Justice Harun Hashim in February 1988 whereupon the Master Manipulator ordered the Registrar of Societies to sit on an application by Tunku Abdul Rahman and Musa Hitam to form a new party - Umno Malaysia - whilst fast-tracking the formation of Umno Baru and quietly transferring all cash assets to the new account. Since then, immorality and ruthless cunning have stamped every action by Mahathir's Umno Baru (which wasted no time dropping the "Baru" and pretending it was the same old Umno of 1946). Naturally, Mahathir's Umno Baru attracted more and more money-grubbing opportunists in the form of contractors looking for no-bid tenders and within a decade, the contractor class had displaced the original Umno stalwarts (mostly intellectuals, teachers and professionals with nationalist inclinations). Along with the collapse of ethics in Umno Baru came a crass vision of materialistic growth with absolutely no consideration for humanistic or spiritual values. This, of course, results in the spread of mediocrity, hypocrisy and even more corruption. We have only Dr M to thank for overseeing the rapid decline of Umno as a relevant political force in Malaysia. We also have Dr M to thank for creating the greatest nemesis he would ever have - Anwar Ibrahim. If Mahathir had been gentler and more compassionate when dealing with Anwar's rebellion, he might well have been eventually lured back into Umno and there would have been no reformasi movemnent - and no Pakatan Rakyat!
