SOMETIME in June 1971, President Richard M. Nixon was looking at his daughter’s wedding photo published in the New York Times.

His eyes were drawn to the story beside the photo – this was the start of the end for Nixon.

The Pentagon Papers.

Then came a series of stories in the Washington Post which reported about an unassuming break-in at the Watergate office complex which turned out to be a Nixon administration scheme to wiretap conversations in the Democrat headquarters and the link to Nixon’s re-election campaign machinery.

The Watergate Scandal.

In 1974, Nixon finally resigned.

These incidences draw a remarkable likeness to what is happening in Malaysia presently.

Malaysia Today has leaked out several signed statements (eg: the IGP’s alleged link to the underworld which has not been addressed or rebutted by the police chief) and lately, high level official government documents (i.e. the classified Cabinet papers on the Port Klang Free Zone scandal which shows that the Cabinets of the Mahathir, Abdullah and Najib administrations were well aware of the PKFZ dealings).

There are more similarities:

1. The Pentagon Papers were the US military account of activities during the Vietnam War which showed that the Lyndon B. Johnson administration had plans to invade North Vietnam although Johnson kept assuring the public there was no such thing. But the Pentagon Papers that were leaked out to the press during the Nixon administration also embarrassed the Kennedy administration (clandestine policies regarding the French, Indochina and Southeast Asia).

In Malaysia, three administrations are said to be linked to the PKFZ scandal – the Mahathir, Abdullah and Najib administrations – and therefore likely to be implicated if the matter goes further.

The bigger you are the harder you fall. The BN government always assumes that the Rakyat are fools or can be fooled all the time but they fail to realise that " You can fool all, sometimes, some all the time and not all, all the time".
Madhathir is keeping mum over this coz he has plenty to hide as well. All these guys should be charged and hanged if possible for robbing the Rakyat.

It's not correct to compare modern day American to our Malaysian politics. If comparison has to be made, it would be more correct to compare Malaysia to the days when America was runned by the Mafia.

Here in Malaysia, the glaring difference is that the ruling political party, particularly UMNO, owns our entire law enforcement, legal system, public and security personnel lock, stock, & barrel! All these system in turn depends entirely on UMNO for their financial well being.

Yes we do get leaks from some guilty concious individuals from within the BN government, but even these "leaks" are more than likely to be part of an elaborate grand scheme cooked up by some individuals for their own agenda.
Again as is glaringly apparent, all these sensational "leaks" are news to get Malaysians all worked up and then these "leaks" die a quite death. Uninvestigated, with no guilty persons being charged or brought to justice, to become just a mere lingering news item for some Malaysians to bring up once in a while.

It will most probably take us another 50 or so years before we Malaysians can truely stand up and be counted. For now, some of us dare to shout out, but then hurriedly seek shelter in whatever place we can find to escape the long & powerful arms of UMNO. MCA, MIC, GARAKAN, and the rest of the BN gang? Just necessary evils for UMNO to show the rest of the world that Malaysia is democratic! Throw them a few scaps and the pariah dogs are happy to roll over and play dead at the command of UMNO.

The PKR might not be any better as an alternative Malaysian government, but my vote will still be for them come next GE. Any type of change is better than the limbo we Malaysians are in for the last 40 odd years. Changes in Malaysia has stopped just past ten years of Merdeka.

In this post-modern era of instantaneity and simultaneity of information dissemination through the virtual cyberspace technology, news can hardly be stifled let alone censored.

Killing the whistle blowers is like filling up the holes before the next hole is being dug up. Such is the reality of today's flat world of communications.

UMNO led government is still administrating the country with their blinkers on.The forces of evolution will not stop at their doorstep in opening up cans of worms and skeletons in the closet. Sooner or later, their regime will have their shell life having an expiry date stamped, sealed and delivered to be shipped to Timbuktu.

The galactic transformation on a global scale as predicted in the year 2012 will be the tipping point for the political landscape in Malaysia witness a tsunami change in the next General Election, come 2013.

Oh ye...... whisperers of Truth and Justice.... let the Judgment Day comes and let there be light at the end of the tunnel.

The media is the means to an end. However, the problem with Malaysian politicians is that they seems to have a tendency to write their own END. Take Chua Soi Lek for example, it is his actions that decided his END. Then again, it is MCA's decision to support his actions that may decide its END.

We often hear that dictators in Malaysia say 2 2 = 5 and use their majority to quash all logics. But then again, how different is this from what MCA is doing?

To relate to an old issue, it looks like CSL, sounds like CSL, moves like CSL but it cannot be CSL's fault nor can he be punished! And we say others have double standards. how's that? CSL might as well been drinking beer as well. another controversy

That is absolutely correct and the problem for BN is not Pakatan Rakyat but rakyat. They has failed to see that rakyat no longer afraid of them. Yet they are afraid of PR and totally taking rakyat for granted. PR is listening to rakyat but they need to be smarter because they are fighting MSM, BN, wolf in sheep clothing, civil servant, judiciary, PDRM, MACC, maybe royalties, and a long long list. So, two things need to happen:

1) PR need to get it house in order so no one simply open their BIG mouth to MSM

2) BN need to put their fear in the right place and clean up. However, I think their arrogant is because of fear of their skeletons being discovered if Federal government changes hands. So, this is a hopeless action

Not a good comparison. In America, the President knows that he can be impeached, not here. The politicians there are power-egoistic [just like politicians everywhere] but they also have a sense of what is right and what is wrong. What we have here are followers. The PM knows that there can never be a no-confidence vote against him becos he would have commanded the Speaker to disallow it in Parliament, let alone a formal vote. Najib is not scared that the opposition will overthrow him as the numbers disallows it but he is scared of his DPM. Not every MP attends Parliament, just look at the DNA Bill which nearly got rejected. If the opposition votes for a non-confidence against him together with the DPM's cronies, he might end up being sacked and guess who ends up as the new PM.
