(Malaysian Mirror) - MIC president S Samy Vellu has offered to apologise to former premier Mahathir Mohamad over insulting remarks made by one of his party members but his gesture may be a little too little, a little too late.

The 84-year old Mahathir has already brushed aside the episode, saying the remarks did little to hurt him and that this was not the first nor the worst insult he has received through the decades.

mic-1.gif“This is not the first time I have been insulted,” he was quoted as telling Bernama.

“People might have forgotten how Umno leaders had insulted me. Nazri (the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department) and the previous menteri besar of Kedah wanted me expelled from Umno. However, then no one gave any reaction. No one dared to say anything.”

Why is everyone suddenly defending me

At the MIC’s annual meeting last Sunday, Pahang leader M Sukumaran suggested that “a garland of slippers” be hung around Mahathir’s portrait at the Umno headquarters to show the Indian party’s dissatisfaction over remarks the former PM had made about Samy’s leadership.

Just the day before, Mahathir had practically called for Samy to step down, saying he had contributed little to the Indian community.

Samy slammed his former boss for those words, which many observers believed were aimed at boosting the chances of arch rival S Subramaniam in wresting the No.2 post over Samy's preferred successor G Palanivel and taking over when Samy retired in 2012.

Nevertheless, Samy has apparently recapitulated. In a statement issued on Thursday, he expressed regret over the incident.

“I will meet him personally to explain the whole episode and extend my apology. I have always had the highest respect for Tun Dr Mahathir. He is a great leader and a statesman,” said the Indian leader.

Nevertheless, despite the commotion, the sardonic Mahathir has chosen to attack enemies from within his own Umno party instead.

“Suddenly I have become popular. Everyone is defending me. As I said... previously when I was insulted, asked to be expelled from Umno no one showed any reaction. Why the reaction now?,” he asked.

“Then, no one defended me. At least not openly. Some did on the quiet but the big names dared not.”

For a while it appeared that Samy has been receiving unfair criticism specially when he was not standing for elections and had already been unanimously selected.

But no longer so. Now it is clear. He has amply and beyond reasonable doubt demonstrated in the eye of public that he can no longer think, say or do anything right or straight.

So, why keep torturing yourself Samy, and in the process why torture all Indians and the nation?

Go home Samy to your wife, children and grand children. Word has it that you have been wanting in that area for too long. Why spend the last few years of your life for these miserable politics. Time to let go and discover the greater joys in life.

There is a big world out there waitiing for you. Let the sunshine come through. Enjoy your holidays in peace without the pesky party members, UMNO, Mahathir, Subra etc etc. Just go away for a long long time, if need be go even to the Himalayas. Rediscover the joys of life you have been missing for so long. Go home Samy. Go away Samy. Just do not look back Samy. Go! Go! Go! Find your soul and find your inner peace.

TDM knows why suddenly UMNO goons come to his defence but he's not saying it. It's just his usual style, ie being sarcastic. UMNO goons treat all other partners in BN as dogs. When TDM was insulted by MIC, these goons happily used this opportunity to strike at the dogs. TDM, you think they really want to defend you? To them, you are history. You are just using you. I think you pretty much know that, wise old man

DR M SLAMS HYPOCRISY

This Tun M fella never ceases to amaze me. I mean, he was the one who muscled UMNO into the quota system so he could hold on to power and now he says its good that the quota system is removed...wtf? Is that hypocrisy wrapped in a spin or what?

Tun M is true. There are lots of hypocrisy with Malaysians. Just UMNO ball carriers alone we can see this. Last time, condemn Tun M like a plague, now just because want to whack Indians, everyone talks about protecting the elder statesman. Some blog even call the slipper man 'Bastard'!

I say at least MIC bunch are man enough to come out and admit and apologize. You don't see the likes of UMNO Assembly warriors, Penang UMNO bunch that went berserk and the recent Cow Brain bunch from Shah Alam apologizing to anyone even when they can use religion to threaten other people's life. Talk about racist....

Forget about what sneaky Samy say in the past, but saying UMNO gave all BN component party a bad name is true! At least he dared to speak up and gentlemen enough to apologize when they overdid it.
