Since 'slipper man' has been suspended, Umno must take disciplinary action against former premier

MIC members have not forgotten Dr Mahathir’s statement just two days before the 2008 general election when he condemned the party president for not having done anything for the Indian community.

Frankie D'Cruz, Malay Mail

MIC Youth leader T. Mohan now wants Umno to take disciplinary action against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad since the Pahang delegate who made the disparaging remarks against Dr Mahathir has been suspended.

Mohan said neither he nor the party condoned the “garland of slippers” suggested by Peter Sugumaran of the MIC Paya Besar division in Pahang.

However, the Youth wing feels the former prime minister should not have interfered in the internal affairs of the MIC, he said.

“Much as both the party and I hold Dr Mahathir in high esteem, action should be taken against him by Umno for interfering in the affairs of the MIC.”

Mohan said Dr Mahathir should not have hit out against party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu when a tight fight for the MIC positions was around the corner.

He said statements made by the influential Dr Mahathir were uncalled for and had upset members who viewed them as a move to oust Samy Vellu.

He said it was not the first time during precarious moments that Dr Mahathir had done so. “MIC members have not forgotten Dr Mahathir’s statement just two days before the 2008 general election when he condemned the party president for not having done anything for the Indian community.

“Although the MIC candidates lost in most of the constituencies, the MIC members tolerated and refrained from making any counter-attack on Dr Mahathir for his accusations.”

Mohan was elaborating on his statement to Samy Vellu-owned Tamil Nesan daily yesterday. He said while he had discouraged the suspended delegate, Peter Sugumaran, from making the proposal during his speech on the presidential debate on Sunday, MIC delegates had the right to criticise Dr Mahathir or anyone who intervened in “our internal matters”.

Dr Mahathir had given his views on the MIC, Samy Vellu and endorsed Datuk S. Subramaniam as the deputy president of the party and the one to regain Indian support for the Barisan Nasional.

This angered several MIC members who rushed to the defence of Samy Vellu, including Sugumaran who mentioned in his speech on the presidential debate that a garland of slippers be placed on the portrait of Dr Mahathir at PWTC, home of Umno.

Umno leaders hit back, describing the “garland of slippers” suggestion as rude, excessive and extreme.
Samy Vellu first criticised the former premier for interfering in internal party matters, but said that he had been against the garland suggestion and would take disciplinary action against the delegate.

Asked if the MIC would issue a personal apology to Dr Mahathir as Umno leaders have taken umbrage over the remark and have demanded a personal apology from Samy Vellu, Mohan said: “It’s up to the individual to apologise.”

He said he hoped the storm would blow over despite the conflicts over comments made by other MIC leaders responding to the demand for a personal apology.

Asked if his comments would worsen the situation, Mohan said: "We have to stand our ground. We can’t keep quiet just because he was the former prime minister.”

Dr M is branded as an indian by the british, so he has every right to participate in MIC.
giving a "garland of slippers" is simply too nice for someone like Dr M. He should be hanged and desposed of like saddam hussein. Hanging using 'garland of slipper' would be an apt thing to do.

TO SIPHON MORE MONEY? TO STEAL MORE?

LETS FACE FACTS NO SANE INDIAN IN HIS/HER RIGHT FRAME OF MIND IS EVER GOING TO SUPPORT THE MIC EXCEPT FOR THE IDIOT MIC MEMBER DELEGATES WHO VOTED FUKFACE AND HIS TEAM OF IDIOTS WHOM ARE APPARENTLY STILL SUCKING UP TO FUKFACE VELLU TO PICK UP ANY FALLING CRUMBS OR LEFTOVERS!

WHILE TUN DR. M WAS IN POWER F..FACE VELLU WAS ALWAYS PRAISING HIM AND NOW THIS UNGRATEFUL DOG WANTS TO GARLAND TUN DR. M WITH SLIPPERS... NEVERMIND IF IT WAS SAID BY AN IDIOT MEMBER, PETER, BUT TRUTH IS THAT F..FACE MUST HAVE BEEN THE INSTIGATOR AS EVERYONE KNOWS THAT FUKFACE CALLS THE SHOTS!

Peter, the slipper has to apologize to Mamak Kutty because it is not our culture to show disrespect to outr leaders, especially UMNO leaders and worst, the ex-PM.Mamak Kutty however, has to apologize to Samy the sandal for intervening in MIC's election as his suggestions would influence the outcome of the election.

Peter the slipper wouldn't have suggested that Mamak Kutty be garlanded with slipper if not for Mamak Kutty's stupid intervention in MIC's suggestion. He reserved the garland though it is not our culture to garland someone so important with slipper.Maybe NIKE's shoes are more appropriate but personally,I prefer Li Ning !

Mr Mohan, Please don't try to score cheap political points, ask UMNO to discipline Mahathir? My foot!

You MIC people still don't get the hint from Najib? Let us tell you this, what Najib wanted to tell MIC is you are all no more relevant to B.N. unless you can pull all Indians into MIC, but can you do it? Lets wait for the analysis of the Indians votes in Penanti.

In response to NTV7's poll results, this garlanded portrait is definitely justified.

This is for someone who, more often than not, have a foot in his mouth and is never accountable for anything that he says.

I have to agree with Tun here... MIC have indeed done nothing for the indian community except for the already fat, spoiled cronies...

Although it will come to naught, but they have done a great job of getting free publicity with this issue.

Does any disagree that what Mahathir said just before the 2008 election and just before the MIC party election is not proper etiquette? For a senior UMNO member to bad mouth a BN component party member just before elections tantamounts to hitting below the belt. One may ofcourse an Opposition Party to do so. Mahathir's action opens the flood gate for MIC to criticise UMNO. If so, then UMNO would start saying things about MIC, Is this what the great Tun wants for national and party unity? One wonders whether Mahathir is secretly assisting Anwar repenting all the torment Mahathir had caused to him? This old man still has a lot of venom in him.

You are absolutely right, Mohan. Mahathir must be sued for sedition. He is instigating the Indians to hate him!!! Malaysia needs more people like you to stand up to Mahathir and his gang. MIC must stand on its feet and be counted as a useful citizen. No need for more ethnic splinter parties like hindraf, etc. MIC must face the realities of the UMNO assault !!! It must be respected as a component of the ruling coalition. There is no doubt on this!!!!

T mohan is trying to 'perru podaran' by speaking up.
But then again, this is about MIC indians not the rakyat indians so
I dont really give a rat's arse as what Tun said is true.
Can T Mohan draft a letter with all the things mic did for the committee in recent years?
As long as the poor people contribution towards maika went bust,
the curse is well and alive and its going to eat mic slowly n heartfully

MIC youth chief T Mohan,

Whay don't you go play with your balls - what is there for anyone to interfere with MIC?

MIC is doomed and to be very honest, I think What TDM said is the truth - like it or not. I see it as not an interference but a personal opinion - as I have an opinion about MCA and UMNO.

Again I say, I am not a fan of TDM but the garland issue is the pits - coming from crapheads of MIC.

You and your big boss and your moronic followers can pack up and piss off. You idiots do not represent ALL Indians - with garbage that you spill out and the crap that is in your heads.

Damn fcukwits should be kicked out from this planet. You bastards are a fcuking disgrace to the Indian community.

Sorry Pete, I am totally against such mutts and what they thought of and everything that they do.
