Husni says tactics of political opposition can destroy the country

IPOH, Sept 5 — Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the various tactics and political gimmicks used by the opposition to attack the Barisan Nasional (BN) can jeopardise efforts in developing the country's economy.

He said the actions by the opposition parties could destroy the country if the people were taken in by the opposition's gimmicks.

"They (the opposition) try to confuse the people by making various excuses to erode public confidence in the monarchy, judiciary, police force, military and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.”

"While the government is working very hard to boost the national economy and compete with the big powers, there are politicians and individuals who are still trying to influence the people to disagree with the government," he told reporters after a ceremony to hand over house keys and offer letters for a community housing programme, here today. He said the people must be more firm so that they would not be fooled by those who were attempting to find ways to reject the existing government.”

Ahmad Husni said this when commenting on the action of the opposition members of the Perak State Assembly in holding a 'State Assembly sitting' at a hotel, here on Wednesday. — Bernama

*************************************************

Ahmad Husni is a product of Umno. So of course he speaks like that -- with warped logic. To Umno, any Malay who opposes Umno is a traitor to the Malay race. This was how rulers of the old days used to think as well. To oppose the king means you are opposing God because the king is appointed by God. So, since Umno means Malay, then opposing Umno tantamount to opposing the Malay race. And Malays who oppose the Malay race are therefore traitors to their race.

And that is why we need PAS in spite of the idiosyncrasies they sometimes display. Umno has only one platform, Malay supremacy or Ketuanan Melayu. PAS can offer the Malays a second platform, Islam. And PAS can make the Malays understand that racism is forbidden in Islam.

Nevertheless, we have to make PAS understand that they need to live up to their slogan, Islam Untuk Semua (Islam For All). And that means, while they want to make Muslims better Muslims, in the same process they should not impose on others or deny others their rights to their religion as well.

What is happening in Shah Alam with regards to the Hindu temple, in a way, serves this objective. It is Umno that is so opposed to the relocation of the temple while the PKR and PAS people are trying very hard to bend over backwards to accommodate the Hindus. The PAS Member of Parliament for Shah Alam, Khalid Samad, even said he is prepared to lose the next election if it means he loses because he does the right thing in the interest of being fair. That displays a huge contrast between Umno and PAS.

Of course, many would rather overlook this important point and instead focus on the stupid statements that PAS makes like banning rock concerts and the like. But if you were to notice the ‘Take Beeer’ banner that the cow head protesters carried it is very clear the demonstration was as much anti-Pakatan Rakyat as it was anti-Hindu temples. And it was an Umno man who stepped on the cow head, not a PAS man.

Anyway, back to Ahmad Husni’s statement above. You just can’t fry the egg unless you first break the shell. So things are going to get much worse in Malaysia before it gets better. Revolutions can never start on a full stomach. People with full stomachs are fat, lazy and lethargic. You need to be lean and hungry before a revolution can start.

As long as the economy is good and people have plenty of money in their pockets they will never clamour for change. They need to be desperate before they will take to the streets to demand change. So we are not scared of whatever happens to the economy. So the economy collapses. So what? Only when that happens will the people want to kick Barisan Nasional out.

We are looking for a new dawn. But before the coming of dawn there must first be darkness. So let us go through a period of darkness if need be. Only after we see darkness can we see dawn, a new beginning.

It is like the mother who was told that her fourth son has just died in the war and she cried on hearing the news. When she was told how sorry they were to have to bring her the news about the loss of her last son, she replied that she is crying not because she has lost all her sons but because she no longer has any sons to give to the cause.

Yes, no mother can endure losing her children. But when the cause becomes more important than yourself then even the lose of all your children is a worthy cause.

There are many who fear turmoil and chaos. I too fear that but I still endure. And I do so not because I am brave but because I am scared. It is not bravery but cowardice that makes me do what I do. I am scared of what is going on in Malaysia. I fear that if we do nothing then Malaysia is doomed. And because of this fear about what awaits us over the horizon it makes me face whatever may come my way in striving for the greater cause.

So, yes, I am a coward. And the cowardice in me makes me scared of doing nothing. A brave man would say come what may and I will face it. But a coward like me says I can’t bear to face that kind of future and instead I fight to change the course of history.

And if this course of history involves chaos and turmoil and a collapsed economy so be it. This is because I believe that, the way Barisan Nasional is mismanaging our economy, the economy is headed for doom anyway. It is merely a matter of time. If we wait for the eventual collapse then there will be nothing left to salvage. This way, if it collapses now, at least there would still be something left to save.

So Ahmad Husni’s threat does not frighten me. We must first destroy to be able to build. Before we can plant we must first cut down the forest and burn the trees. Only then can we plant the food that will save mankind. Those who believe in the religion of Abraham will testify that the Holy Books tell us that even God Himself destroyed many times so that mankind would have a better future. Even God was not against destroying to rebuild.

And if it is good enough for God then it is good enough for me. As the Black Power movement would say: burn, baby, burn.

Dear RPK,
You are absolutely correct.
You need to go through a dark night before you see dawn.
You need to be in stormy water before you see a calm ocean.
You need see the greed ,violence and hypocracies of UMNO,before you see a better government in Malaysia.
Be prepared for the worst ,before better time ahead.

Strong Government Bad Country!!!
Example:- Zimbabwe, North Korea, Burma, Iran, Iraq, Sudan.....Those powerful elites hold their own citizens in ransom. the elites enjoy privilege that equal to none but the rest of the Citizens dying in hunger.

Country with Strong Opposition Party!!
Example:- Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Holland, England, France.....most European countries have strong opposition and their country are rich, they respect human rights, corruption are manageable and their citizens enjoy a very high standard of living.

Dear Pete,

Since when did UMNO is concern about the population well being and the country’s economy? What Ahmad Husni is really worried about is the UMNO leaders and their cronies’ economy. It is not the country’s or the rakyaats’ economy that they are concern. The hell with the rakyaat!

My Cambodian friend told me that a certain tribe of the North Vietnamese with black teeth (for eating kangkong too much) fought the Americans on empty stomach. In fact, their leaders asked their foot soldiers to march for days with little food. The only thing the ate was white rice and kangkong they picked along the way to the battlefields. When they face the Americans on the battlefield, they fought fiercely. Well, you know the rest is history. They kicked out the Americans and liberated South Vietnam, although it is not the tribe alone (there are many other factors) that caused the Americans to flee.

So the theory of hungry people will revolt and fight fiercely is correct! We know that happened in the French revolution too. With the billions of RM they looted, the UMNO/BN regime did not realize that they are making Malaysians poor and hungry. . ., the right variable for a revolution!

Malaysians will have to bite the bullet these few months until the next General Election. Facing chaos and turmoil needs true grit.

Anyone for Kangkong goreng belacan with white rice for buka puasa?

While UMNOputras destroy Malaysia with blind support from what is little left of their grassroots,Malaysians must ignore PAS trivial ,look at the greater good of the party, and wholeheartedly support PR for a new Malaysia. If we love Malaysia more than ourselves we should be prepared to sacrifice. As the days pass,UMNOputras will become more and more desperate ,therefore may resort to all underhand means to instigate and incite hate and violence.

There's a saying that it is darkest before the dawn.
I can only hope this is the darkest hour for our country.
Will there be turmoil and conflict before there's change for the better?
I hope not but as RPK has proclaimed, I , too, am prepared to go through it if that is the precondition for change here.
Yet, it need not be so if the UMNOputras do not consider the country as their personal fiefdom and ruling the country is their divine rights!
Japan is a good example just recently!!

Since 1997/1998, Malaysia has been floating aimlessly without direction. our leaders have no idea on how to restore the economy and as how Mahathir put it, we have yet to fully recover. policy flip flops merely show the shortsightedness of our ruling govt. meanwhile, investors are avoiding Malaysia and we now have to resort to selling 10% of Sime Darby to China.

What's next? More slogans? This nation is doomed. The only thing is to finish this BN-led govt by getting all of them sacked and send them to oblivion.

Just look at the cow head incidence clearly instigated by Umno, the Ong Beng Hock murder by its dog MACC attempting to wreck Pakatan or the Kampong Buah Pala fiasco started by Barisan and the comical comments by that Hisapmudin, DPM, Yatim and the idiot you mentioned above. They have used racial threats. They have used religious threats. They have used MACC. They have used the Police. They have used the AG and Judiciary. They have even managed to use the royalty.

So, are we going to fall for it again?

No, I say. We are no more gullible. We are now wise to all such dirty tricks.

Let's start with Bagan Pinang by booting our UMNO/BN, and then move onwards to GE 13.

May I suggest one of the ideas for mass protest is for everyone of us to drop whatever we are doing for an hour or 2 on a specific time and day? We can close shop, stop our cars/bikes by the roadside, stand by the roadside etc and this happening all over the country in the major towns, villages, anywhere. This should be interesting.

Pakatan can only bring about positive change in this nation if it is honest and abides by its principles.

My worry is that Pakatan is reneging on its principles and abandoning its commitment to uphold the rights of every Malaysian regardless of race or creed. It was this sense of 'brotherhood and sisterhood' which caught the imagination of the Rakyat in the March 08 election.

A true test of political honesty and principle is how minorities, the poor, the infirm and uneducated are treated. The temple fiasco is the latest in a string of debacles which has called into question Pakatan's sincerity and firmness in upholding Indian and Hindu basic rights. Khalid Ibrahim's capitulation to thuggery over the Section 19 Hindu temple relocation isue is a betrayal of Pakatan's promises to the Indian community before the last election.

There shockingly seems to be a prevailing attitude that Indians should accept whatever injustices meted out to them by Pakatan because BN would be far worse. This cynical and immoral attitude is widespread in the responses by MT readers over Hindu grievances.

The fundamental issue remains why the Sri Mahamariaman temple has to be demolished.Indian workers who formed the backbone of the plantation work force which brought untold wealth to the nation had for many years worshiped at the temple. It was there long before Muslims moved into the area and became the majority.

Cogent reasons have to given why the temple has to be demolished and relocated. To date none has been offerred which cannot be resolved at the stroke of a pen. What is the land where Sri Mahamariaman is now located going to be used for? Is it for commercial interest? Will it be gazetted as a park?

Is the reason purely due to Muslim intolerance and racism and should this be condoned by the Pakatan State government? Shouldn't the Pakatan government be explaining to the residents who voted for them that demolishing the temple would be against the promises made to the Indians that their religious and citizenship rights would be held as 'sacrosanct'.

Khalid should explain to the residents of Section 23 that it was the residents who had through the ages encroached in the temple vicinity and were well aware of the fact that there was a temple there. Why did they buy the houses in the 1st place? Pakatan must explain to the residents that they represent all Malaysians and not only Malays and Muslims. Furthermore, Pakatan should inform the Malays of Shah Alam that it is unIslamic to deny non-Muslims places of worship. Islam is meant to protect the religious places of worship of the other faiths.

Did the 'Medina Charter' allow for the demolishing of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues?

What is the Islamic way of treating other races and religions? I personally think Malays are confused. They seem not to be able to tell the differece between the UMNO manifesto and the Koran.

The Sri Mahamariaman temple should stand at least as a testament to the concept of 1Malaysia. Let us hope Pakatan is not going to pander to immoral and unIslamic Malay racism.

How can Indians support Pakatan if it cannot even protect their temples from destruction by intolerant and racist Malays?

Why should it be seen as "capitulation"? Suppose Khalid insists on going ahead to relocate the temple at S. 23, and those UMNO thugs then go ahead to carry out their threat of violence against the Hindu worshippers, do you think the (UMNO) police are going to protect the Hindus? Do you think the Pakatan State government members can guarantee the safety of the Hindu worshippers when they themselves are the victims of police brutality?

It is most unfortunate that what you have written was true as proven in history in many countries. Would present China be what it is without Mao's revolution? UMNO has already paved the way for such eventuality. And Najib, unfortunately, will be the PM responsible for pulling the trigger to start the race towards total annihiliation of what we have fought for years - a united Malaysian. His 1Malaysia is actually a MONO_Malaysia with only the Malay race as supreme. What he conceptualised and sell tot he Malaysian is exactly the opposite in what is being practised by his followers - Police, MACC, MMCC and all the other organisation under the purview of the BN government.

When the country goes to the dog, people have no choice but to destroy and build a new society. This rings true to the Hindu belief in Braham, Krishnan and Vishnu - the creator, preserver and destroyer. The 3 major forces in nature as can be seen the the 4 seasons. One has to destroy to create or rebuild, although the forces of preservation will always be the modifying force of nature.

I still believe that UMNO leaders, including Najib who has decades of experience, have seen this going and might have predicted the way Malaysia is moving towards - self destruction. It is that the movement (or force that has been generated by UMNO, MIC and MCA) has gained so much momentum that not even Badawi nor Najib can put a brake on it. It would need a much more concerted effort and a desperate action by Najib to alter the course in history. If Najib refuses to step in to stop this rot, like putting Toyo (the king maker in UMNO) and the IGP (the one who knows too much secrets of UMNO) to jail, just as Tun Hussein Onn did to Harun, UMNO will continue to behave the way it has been trained by Mahathir and Badawi.

But in the final analysis, if God so will, inshallah, nothing can stop this movement. La Hawla Wala quwata illah billah...... Azeem.

RPK,

Darkness comes before dawn! Day comes after night!

The PM said UMNO should respect other religions so that others will respect their religion. Do it; don't just say it!

The marchers witha cow's head were the "untouchables" ; and police investigations are still goin on! And teh Police have submitted theri reports to the AG; and the AG had kicked the ball back to the Police: investigate some more! And in the emantime, the Home Minister visid teh protestors and made a statement that teh proestors did nothing wrong! And yet, in the enxt breath, after enws broke of his statement, he acem up with another statement: Punish the protestors! What a U-turn! To this day, nobody was arrested!

Ye, yesterday, soem Hindraf leaders who marched PEACEFULLY were arrested in doubel quick tiem! Whata n irony! In teh cow-head incident, teh Police stood stiil and and watched the fun! No arrest! Why? Waiting for instruction from the top?

And now, MCMC instructed Malaysiakini to shut down the two videos--- oen about the demonstration and anotehr about teh statement fromt eh Home Minister! Why?
Too violent and too embarrassing? Then, why no arrests? Becasue they are Muslims? Because he is a Minister?

Now, the messager, malaysiakini, si asked to shut down the videos! It is deva ju: remember the Sin Chew reporter, the reporter of tRUTH, was locked up under ISA? And nothing happeend to the UMNO bigot who said Non-Malays aer "squatetrs" ! What an irony!

It is just like what is happening in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan: the raped
( woman) is STONED to death while the rapist is free as a bird! Is this what religion teaches its followers? The victim is PUNISHED!

Remember Anwar Ibrahim was BLINDFOLDED, HANDCUFFED and PUNCHED ? Who did it it? Was the IGP instructed to punish Anwar?

Remember 106 people were locked up in Kamunting camp? Who gave the roders? Blame the Police?

Remember Lord President Abas and his fellow, senior Judges were sacked/suspended? Who did it? Blame the Tribunal?

God has eyes!

And now, the shifting of the Hindu Temple! Who was responsiible? Looks like there was no one responsible! The so-called independent AG is waiting for instruction! It is a peculiar "independence" !

So, where is justice?

Your are right on spot Twilight Years.
"His 1Malaysia is actually a MONO_Malaysia with only the Malay race as supreme. What he conceptualised and sell tot he Malaysian is exactly the opposite in what is being practised by his followers - Police, MACC, MMCC and all the other organisation under the purview of the BN government."
This is nothing compared to what is coming from the prime minister soon.
Watch this space.

Dear RPK,
Suggest that you have a column to improve the situation in the country. The column must only have suggestions and issues to improve our nation.

For the benefit of Khir Toyol (who called the cow a very stupid animal) and his 50 Muslims cronies who paraded with a cow head after Friday prayers ...let me enlighten you what exactly you did....

"Cows are the mothers of the universe. The human infant is fed breast milk by its human mother for under three years. After weaning, the cow acts as the surrogate mother providing milk for the rest of the human life-through childhood, adult age and old age. Cow is verily the mother of the world. One would be filled with repugnance at the ungrateful idea of killing mother, whether surrogate mother or otherwise."

Since these Muslims created such a low level act during Ramadan, I am sure more evil will come to haunt us all by UMNO with the Govt endorsing such act via Hishamuddin is the beginning of a dark era under Najib's 1Malaysia plan.

Once I was asked what I meant by expansion of one's consciousness. It just occured to me then and there in an instance what it was without any thinking. I think the metaphor I used then can be applied to the situation you had just described.

Our consciousness - individual and collectively - is limited and bounded by our delusions. Our delusions are like the sunlight. It is bright, vibrant, compelling and the sunlight, just as logic and reasons have all these characteristics mainly because we could "see" or so we thought. But everything that we "see" is not the truth. It is a mind created reality - a reality that conform to a set of delusions. As we begin to abandon these delusions such as thinking that ketuanan melayu will serve the malays best, umno is the great defender of malays and therefore islam and so on and so forth, it is like light from the sun setting. At one point in the setting of the sun there is an "explosion" of the firmament within our consciousness. The stars - which all along we could never see because of the sunlight suddenly became obvious. It is only when the night is darkest, during the twilight period, could we really see the clearest.

It is more important to destroy the delusions than to destroy things physically. March 8, 2008 was a time that the nation had a glimpse of the firmament. In response to the final death throes of umno they had tried playing the race and religion again. As it is observed in nature that fire burns the brightest just before its death. The recent section 23 inflammatory attempt by umno fell flat and after getting all the eggs and tomatoes on their proverbial faces they feverishly went into damage control. In one of the comments I even predicted how they would come out to defend those idiots in the demonstration.

The reason why this new attempt had failed so miserably was because there were sufficient number of right thinking malays who stood up. They had seen the stars and the firmament and would never buy into the logic and reasons of the deluded.

Problems are part and parcel of life and buddhism taught that these problems are like gristmill that can polish a raw diamond to produce its shine. Without friction there will never be any glittering diamond.

Passive resistance that quite a few people had been talking about would be a powerful gristmill to grind away our delusions.

The public is also tired of race baiting, the UMNO rally in ampang supporting PDRM & MACC only attracted 30 people, the cow head protest only 50 people , the candlelight vigil to protest the cow head incident yesterday only attracted 40 people, the anti ISA rally that was a universal concern attracted some 20000-if UMNO, Hindraf , MIC and the rest don't know how to read these signs, they are just too delusional.
Malaysians are slowly but surely turning away fron ethno politics.
I can see the light seeping through at the end of the tunnel and the race based party's are scampering all over the place because cockroaches cannot stand the light.Do not despair comrades when there is hope for the future there is power in the present.

God does not destroy for destroying's sake.
We assume that God is a destroyer a plunderer.
However we have to understand that it is perogative for creating and destroying.
We cannot question that.

However we cannot use that as an excuse to KILL others using the excuse that he did it and commanded it by bombing and slaughtering just because of religious differences or even racial differences.

There is no justification whatsoever using God as the reason for killing...
We cannot usurp the power of God...and that is what UMNO..the militants and extremists are doing..

I think that RPK has got carried away with his revolutionary theory here. One way our country can be saved is with the VOTE at the next GE.

What can yr 1 miserable vote do?
If you are in a certain majority area, the majority get the vote regardless numbers. It is futile to wait another 3 years.
By then there is nothing more to vote for. No Kg Pala, no rich Bakun Valley, no more democracy. We will be moving on a slow double track train and jamming highway tolls. We will be nothing but slaves to an emerging class of Power Elites.
This false theory in then GE is unacceptable. Revolution is the way to remove tyrants who usurped the power of the people.

Readers, Noticed there are three moronic Umno's e-troppers who keep disagreeing to all the comments? And one classic case is as highlighted below. Surely he/she does not know what this comment is about.

UMNO doesnt mean Malays anymore rather UMNO means non-Malay Muslims....UMNO is party of Indian muslims,Indonesians, Bangladeshis, and lately Arabs and Pakistanis...The Malays are abandoning UMNO in droves and joining PAS and PKR...UMNO has lost the malay cause though it always seem to be championing its cause like the recent episode in Shah Alam manifests..I think the Malays know better ( who are their true leaders )..period...
