So if this, therefore, makes Anwar a traitor of the Malays, then what UMNO is saying is that the CHINESE, INDIAN, SABAHANS & SARAWAKIANS ARE ENEMIES OF THE MALAYS ???
ANWAR A TRAITOR ???….. SHAME ON MCA, MIC, GERAKAN, PPP, PBS etc… As a Malaysian of Indian origin (or as they say, NON Malay), I was really shocked when UMNO came out with the declaration that “Anwar is a Traitor”. It took me some time to digest the whole thing, as I could not comprehend what UMNO was trying to say. I could only read one simple message from that declaration. I was further flabbergasted to see that MCA, MIC, GERAKAN, PPP, PBS, and all the other component parties of Barisan Nasional were totally silent. This really shook the foundation off my feet. IT IS SUCH A SENSELESS STATEMENT..!!! Why? The only thing I read out of that statement of UMNO is this: Anwar has the support of the Chinese, Indians, and is gradually winning more support of the Sabahans and Sarawakians. So if this, therefore, makes Anwar a traitor to the Malays, then what UMNO is saying is that the CHINESE, INDIAN, SABAHANS & SARAWAKIANS ARE ENEMIES OF THE MALAYS??? WOW, I CAN’T DIGEST THIS. This does not make sense to me. The Malays are my fellow Malaysians. The Chinese are my fellow Malaysians. The Sabahans are my fellow Malaysians. The Sarawakians are my fellow Malaysians. So exactly how can Anwar be a traitor if he is in fact a unifying force for all Malaysians? This line that UMNO has taken is probably the lowest it has gone thus far in its desperation to win the Malay support. But, what I make from all this is that the average Malay today is politically much, much more sophisticated than those from yesteryears. The Malays (except maybe the UMNO members) have matured politically, they have evolved, they know that the world in now a global village, they can read through all these empty and senseless slogans that UMNO comes out with ever so often to confuse and divide the people, and therefore to rule the people. The other thing that is very revealing about today’s UMNO is that the right hand of UMNO (the Prime Minister) is promoting “1Malaysia” and the left hand of UMNO (the Deputy Prime Minister) is promoting race based, divisive, low class, and parochial politics. Is this just a coincidence? Is it orchestrated? Does the right hand not know what the left hand is doing? A bit confusing isn’t it ? In an era of global competition, when our energy should be focused on taking the country forward as “MALAYSIA vs. THE REST OF THE WORLD”, I find it utterly disgusting to see that we are still promoting “ MALAY vs. CHINESE vs. INDIAN vs. SABAHAN vs. SARAWAKIAN”. Oh my God, I really can’t believe this. It’s unimaginable to me. Are our leaders stuck in a time warp or what? Don’t they realize how explosive this can be to the country? Have they not seen enough of these ethnic massacres in Africa, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and so on? Our politicians keep telling us we cannot take our racial unity for granted. Yes, I agree. Please stop telling us this rubbish. The politicians need to practice this. The people don’t have any issues. Finally, I just want to end by saying once again how disgusted I am with MCA, MIC, GERAKAN, PPP, PBS and all the other component parties of Barisan Nasional who allow UMNO to say these vulgar words time and again without even winking an eyelid. GOSH I CANT BELIEVE THIS. WE ARE IN THE YEAR 2009 ……. GOD SAVE MALAYSIA.
