Of course, Pakatan will not let the prophecy come true. It is going to hold a meeting 13 August in order to eliminate internal differences and decide its future direction. For political interests, PKR, DAP and Keadilan will tolerate no matter how and they will not easily separate.

By LIM SUE GOAN/ Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/ Sin Chew Daily

Premier League betting companies offer soccer fans a variety of betting approaches. Other than the winning and losing odds, fans may bet whether the coach will be sacked or how many championships can the Manchester United win. If you bet, when do you think Pakatan Rakyat will collapse?

Pakatan Rakyat leaders ambitiously wish to replace BN and take over the federal regime in the next general elections. But Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin gave Pakatan Rakyat a “life-span” of one to two years, means that Pakatan Rakyat is unable to sustain until the next general elections.

Muhyddin came out with such a prediction based on the outburst of Pakatan’s internal contradictions. It is not organized and has no discipline. Such a scenario has greatly increased Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s confidence. He vowed to win the next general elections and retrieve the the county’s lifeline – Selangor.

Of course, Pakatan will not let the prophecy come true. It is going to hold a meeting 13 August in order to eliminate internal differences and decide its future direction. For political interests, PKR, DAP and Keadilan will tolerate no matter how and they will not easily separate.

If the situation really leads to a split, they will not fully collapse. It is because there are serious contradictions between DAP and PAS, but the two parties can still cooperate with PKR. However, the breakup of DAP and PAS will first lose the Selangor regime. But under the circumstances in which PKR works separately with the other two parties, they can still keep the Penang, Kelantan and Kedah regimes.

The cooperation between DAP and PAS in the past benefited PAS the most. During the 1990 general elections, PAS gained the Kelantan state regime and the party won Terengganu in 1999. But for DAP, it suffered a painful experience particularly in 1999. Under the shadow of the Islamic Country concept, DAP suffered a great defeat. DAP then decided to draw a clear line between them and it had no choice but again, to cooperate after the 8 March general elections. DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Chairman Karpal Singh might again break with PAS for their principles. But this time, it will affect PKR the most as it will lose the position of Selangor Menteri Besar, and it will worry opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim the most.

However, BN should not lower its guard just because Pakatan is about to split. Never forget that before Pakatan was formed, many voters were dissatisfied with BN’s governance, causing it to lose its two-thirds majority and five state regimes.

Even if Pakatan no longer exists, the three member parties would not be dissolved and voters may still vote for the Opposition. If Pakatan, which has been clearly investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), can sustain until the next general elections, at least it would be stronger in terms of incorruptibility. Therefore, BN has not yet resolved the crisis.

Of course, UMNO does not underestimate Anwar. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have asked its members to repeatedly criticised Anwar as a traitor to Malays.

Both BN and Pakatan have been concentrated on political power over the past year. Everything they did was meant for a political goal. Such a pan-politicisation phenomenon has been so annoying and when can we get a fresh political force?

It depends on how well PR perform.

From a fair game perspective, PR is being reinforced to be more transparent and clean. It is a good thing.

From a unfair game perspective, anyone from PR fall into the "bribe" trap can cause huge repercussion to PR's reputation. This is being exploited by the evil party now. Perak is an example.

i dont undertsand u ppl esp the malays who are the kingmakers in our country. On one hand u hv BN the plunderer and on another PR the makeshift opposite-attracts marriage riddled with squabbles. You mean to tell me you guys are willing to live with a thief than to settle down with a husband-wife that argues every month? and speaking of Malay supremacy, if this goes on under BN, u think the country can last long after the oil runs dry? Those blokes would hv been long gone and retired in some cosy islands and WE ALL (yes, all of us) will be left behind to rebuild the country from scratch.

PR will survive, must survive.

It is a blessing PR did win the last election and form the government. Chaotic, as a coalition opposition? Only natural. Inexperience is the key word. Before GE12, they do not even have the proper chance to oppose effectively as an opposition with only a minority of about 20% in the parliament, let alone to govern.

Well, this is teething time, may be painful but unavoidable. They better learn fast. When push comes to shove, PR now become wobbly, be reminded, we haven’t seen punches yet. They will learn and improve and gel together otherwise sad for the nation and it’s RAKYAT.

Pakatan will survive at the pleasure and will of people power. They will remain, if not in their present form, a much more amicable and formidable coalition. This structure is underway and soon to be announced by Zaid. The sword of Damocles must remain hanging above bn at the pleasure of the people power and hence their survival. Seriously, its time they do the bidding of the people they swore, under oath, to serve. This is our right and our expectation.

hmmmm.....well at least one thing good about MACC. No matter how hard they tried (even to the extend of causing death), they could not find corruption in PR. We could clearly see the corruptions of BN leaders, yet MACC avoid them like they are lepers.

Carry on, MACC. You are helping the fence sitters decide and get a clearer picture of the desperations of BN.

Pakatan and its survival does not happen in a vacuum. Pakatan came about because of the rakyat's push for reforms or a desire for change. So, Pakatan should be smart and revert back to the rakyat. In fact they should preempt themselves by inviting, to this next meeting, representatives of the Rakyat. Yes, the very Rakyat who helped galvanized the March 08 tsunami.

I don't know if they still engage the 'de facto reps' of the Rakyat in carrying out their duties, but if they have not been doing so, now is as good a time as any. Don't engage or count on us for help only when elections are near. Engage us in crisis management as well. Engage us in problem solving by soliciting our feedback. And in facing the current attacks from Najib and UMNO(BN), engage us as 'consultants' in the counter attacks. Ask us, the rakyat.

So, at this meeting on the 13th of August, invite Haris and others to sit in and to speak for the rakyat.

The problem with Pakatan is mainly due to PAS. How can you have a major coalition partner contemplating 'unity' with UMNO?

This is a recipie for disaster and we are seeing the consequences. It has led to so much distrust and lack of cohesion within Pakatan which UMNO is taking advantage of. Pakatan needs to be brave and expel the Trojans from within in. There is no point tolerating them to create a semblance of 'unity' when the reality is as clear as day for the Rakyat to see. They are a cancer which will eventually destroy Pakatan.

Just because Hadi dresses like a Bedouin and has made a career out of Islam does not mean he is not capable of immorality. The sooner Malays realise this the better for this nation. This nation is in a state of moral decay but yet there is this false sense of moral superiority because of all the humbug Islamic religiosity going on which is just a 'Topeng'.

Islam is not only used to control the Malays, it is also used to drive a wedge between communities. It is also used by UMNO Trojans like Hadi and Hassan Ali to destabilise Pakatan - the recent 'Beer Sandiwara' is a case in point. Guess who benefits from all these 'Islamic' antics? Yes, it is UMNO a party which is fascist and evil beyond measure.

Pakatan will survive as long as it take. The problem is other than RPK nobody can replace Anwar if something happen to him. We should work out something for RPK to freely in the Public with police arrest him.

The only source for us to free RPK is Yang Di Pertua Agung

If Pakatan does what BN is doing like;

1) Corruption
2) Racism
3) Abuse of power
4) No reform

then there is no different between Pakatan and BN. If this happen, I will vote for independent. BN, remember this, the only way you can win back our votes is to gete rid of corruptions, remove all racist from your parties, immediately implement reform in judiciary, police, anti corruption and all other areas. Dont ever think by playing up racial issue to split Pakatan or perform selective prosecution can win our votes. Forget it, you wont.

I WANT ALL POLITICIANS TO KNOW, MALAYSIA VOTE FOR REFORM, CLEAN AND EFFICIENT GOVERNMENT IN MARCH 2008. SO FAR IT HAS BEEN DISSAPOINTING AT FEDERAL LEVEL AND SOME STATE LEVEL. I WOULD GIVE THUMB UP FOR PENANG AND KELANTAN STATE. KEDAH AND SELANGOR NEED TO BUCK UP. IN PERAK WE WANT PAKATAN TEAM BACK AND NOT ZAMBRY. AS FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, IT WAS DISSAPPOINTING TO DATE. MORE WORDS THAN SUBSTANCE. I MEAN THE 1MALAYSIA........WHAT IS IT, ASK MUHYIDDIN TO EXPLAIN ABOUT HIS RACIAL DIVIDE PLAN.
