By Wong Choon Mei, Suara Keadilan

In what is seen as a clear attempt to embarrass Selangor Pakatan Rakyat leader Rodziah Ismail, five officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission tried to barge into her office at the state secretariat building.

But lacking basic procedure, they were promptly turned away by her lawyers Salim Basheer and Ariff Azami.

“We pointed out to them that they did not comply with the legal requirement to issue a notice and to specify what documents are needed from our client,” Ariff told reporters on Wednesday.

Rodziah is the PKR assemblyman for Batu Tiga. She is also an executive councillor in charge of welfare, women affairs, science technology and innovation.

At the time the MACC officers tried to raid her office, which was around 2.45pm, she was at an exco meeting.

The officers left the secretariat building about an hour later without offering any reasons to her staff or even her lawyers as to what they wanted from her.

However, it is believed that the MACC investigation is related to the distribution of state allocations for the Sementa constituency, an Umno-held state seat but which is under Rodziah’s purview.

In the past days, there have also been lurid but unsubstantiated accounts of Rodziah’s misconduct splashed all over pro-Umno blogs. It is also believed that Umno-backed NGO Gerak had lodged a report against her.

Unrelenting chase for power at all costs, using all means

benghock21

Of late, Umno has gone on the offensive against the Pakatan-led Selangor state government. Pushed by Prime Minister Najib Razak, the Selangor Umno chief, they have relentlessly accused Pakatan elected representatives of corruption and misuse of state allocations.

Although baseless, their efforts have nevertheless been able to gain shape thanks to the formality lent by MACC and the police, two federal agencies well known to be under the thumb of top Umno leaders like Najib.

Last month, both the PM and the MACC came in for a nationwide roasting for discriminating against seven Chinese Pakatan assemblymen.

Their chase for power at all costs and through all means resulted in the tragic death of Selangor political officer Teoh Beng Hock.

Even now, an inquest is underway as to why his body was found outside the MACC office after a marathon interrogation conducted outside of hours permitted by the law.

Yet Umno and the MACC see now wrong in their actions. They believe the only way to redeem themselves in the eyes of the public is to continue to push blindly forward. The ends justify the means – or so they believe.

This time though they have slightly altered their modus operandi. They have decided to go after a Malay. Sadly for them, Rodziah has a fantastic reputation and is well respected by her peers of all races.

Time for change

Not that Pakatan representatives cannot be questioned. But there is undeniably a conspiracy and the selective prosecution is too blatant to stomach.

It is time for Malaysians to ask, why did the MACC publicly charge the Selangor state secretariat building this afternoon? Even when they had not complied with the basic legal requirement of prior notification.

Can it be the MACC officers are so ill-trained? Shouldn’t they be sacked then for sheer incompetence?

Or could the bungling be intentional? Could they be trying to any-how embarrass Rodziah?

Malaysians have already asked but must now SHOUT, how come they haven’t questioned former menteri besar Khir Toyo over a Balinese-style palace he built allegedly at a cost of RM24 million? A report was also lodged against him!

How come with the wealth of photographic evidence before them, they have still not cordoned off the super-luxury mansion in Section 7, Shah Alam to do a proper valuation and investigation?

Or could it be they don’t wish to publicly embarrass Khir – an Umno leader, of course.

It is time indeed for Najib to give some answers. As Prime Minister, Umno president and directly in charge of the MACC, this is not the first time he has been asked such questions.

Neither will it be the last. Not for as long as he and his Umno party disrespects the intelligence of Malaysians.

Or could they think so highly of themselves that all other Malaysians are just idiots who will swallow any hook, line and sinker they feel like throwing out.

MACC have a calculator with limited numbers. They cannot count big numbers. They can only count up to RM 15,000 as proven in terengganu. 24 million is too big a number. 500 million commission for purchase of submarine is beyond their comprehension.

Malaysians think almost all (99%) in UMNO are corrupt.

Najis said MACC's handling of the Trengganu case proved that MACC was independent. What do Malaysians think? I think MACC (read UMNO) will investigate similar RM2400-cases of all PR law-makers, then it will arrest a few from BN just to show us of its independence. The ratio is may be 100PR cases Vs BN cases. OR 100 PR cases of RM2400 Vs 5 BN cases of RM15000.

Najis must think we still buy that kind of crap.

We must now defy Najib and openly bring up the Altantuya issue since he is still hell bent on working his Perak-style nonsense. And boycott attending any events that has to do with him. Ignore that bugger when you 'bump' into him. Give him the cold shoulder. Let him know that clearly. There is no law against not greeting him or refusal to apple-polish his balls.

Rod has in possessions several documents that could implicate certain individuals from the BN camp. MACC is going after these so called "documents". Well, if they don't stop this bullying tactic, another rally is on its way. Najiib, you promise us a venue, right?

MACC please don't keep insulting our knowledge. There are many clear cut cases which are not been investigated. You are paid to do your work professionally and fairly. It seems that you are working under the direction of UMNO leaders not gov't leaders. This is where many UMNO members and some of their leaders still could not differentiate between party and gov't jurisdictions. Please tell us frankly what are you trying to look for. There are many cases have been lodged at your office by several people and bodies. Please investigate them. What are you trying to prove. kalu you muslim, bertepatan sekali lah hadis mengatakan salah satu tanda2 hampir kiamat ialah orang soleh atau solehah di cop sebagai jahat, orang jahat macam toyol di cop sebagai baik, betul lah MACC ni mempercepatkan proses kiamat jer. Cuba MACC tengok kes DS Khir Toyo, it is a very clear cut case. What are you waiting for, go investigate him.-fed-up tax payer.

All Malaysians who believe in fair play and justice must voice out loudly against such modus operandi of UMNO.

It is easy to raise false accusations but the public must demand justice when such accusations are proven to be false and heads must roll. Their methods are obvious. First, create a reason in order to be able to go on a fishing expedition regardless whether accusations are true or otherwise. Someone blogs some lies on members of the opposition. Then, someone else will lodge a police report (regardless whether accusations were true or not) - BINGO!, the MACC is now legally entitled to embark upon the fishing expedition and create havoc with the authority of the law behind them!

Those whose hands are behind these malacious activities must be exposed to the general public in order that the public knows who are behind these chaotic times and then they will be able to assess their suitability as leaders of a nation who possesses such sheer determination to destroy the fabric of our democracy.

It's becoming too destructive when the police and MACC sought to abuse their powers in order to destroy the opposition. These idiots are not doing their jobs as required. When crimes are surging at unbelievable rate, these idiots runs around pandering to the wishes of politicians to the extent that citizens do not even feel safe in their own homes. Buckle up and do what you are supposed to do - fight crimes and not go on fishing expeditions for the sake of pleasing politicians.

The people must rein in those politicians who are abusing their positions in order to retain power at the expense of the safety of the people when crimes are at critically high levels and still surging upwards.

If these politicians do not listen, then, get rid of them!

I see this as BeEnd's ploy of keeping Pakatan's govt busy with 'damage control', undermining the Pakatan's ability to do REAL work.

Pakatan need to go on the offensive i.e. keep the Police/MACC busy with a deluge of lodging reports. If we work out the probability of the Police/MACC working on Pakatan's hugh amount of reports. They can't stamp every case as NFA, right?

It is our right to file reports and if they don't take action, Pakatan can high sell the failure of the police/MACC in Parliament and to the public of biased inaction against corruption.

BeEnd intends to win the PR game with public perception with negative reports. They may be winning with all their MSM reporting. Again, Pakatan need to go into offensive mode with hit-and-run guerilla and sniping tactics.

File against K Toyol report with MACC again and again until they take action as an example. Wear the whole damn MACC machinery down.

Pakatan is the underdog here and they should adopt guerilla/sniping tactics. Going head-on with BeEnd with all it's govt machinery at its disposal is just plain suicidal. Keep this going until the next GE... then we shall see....

Oscar, make that 100% but the UMNO spinmeisters are taking a calculated risk in upping the attack on Pakatan representatives. Instead of toning down, the blatant attempts for a continued smear campaign(after Beng Hock's death) is done solely for purpose of diversion, as if we all have short memories as to what happened.

After losing the 2/3 majority in Parliament, the Imam Besar Dollah Badawi got a lot of flak and was soon removed from office though the delay of the inevitable can be accredited to the efforts of one son-in-law trying to hold down the fort. No matter his attempt, KJ was always fighting a losing battle taking on very sinister people within UMNO.

Today - even after a post-mortem by party insiders - UMNO/BN has fails to acknowledge the "ALTANTUYA FACTOR" for the poor showing at the polls.

The sham trial, reasons and questions unexplored, coupled with the disappearance of PI Bala poses a big question mark that remainS a liability to UMNO's future. Add to that Beng Hock's death and that of Kugan's, UMNO keeps mum while ignoring all our concerns for accountability.

When the government of the day sees fit to do as they wish and dispose of lay citizens, any right thinking person would realise that time is up for UMNO as there can never be just reasons for such conduct.

All the stealing, the billions down the drain is passe but now they have started killing and their stupidity, all too obvious.

What other choice do we have ? MAMPUS UMNO, as you have been warned from the dismal showings from the many by-elections.

Actually this article make a VERY VERY good point. Have anyone noticed that since Najib took over Selangor's liason chief role, the use of Federal Agencies to go after PR has gone up by quite a notch. Its classic Najib's behaviour - not only force, but to hide from it, AND also the stupidity or if, the rush, the poor detailing.. Its all classic Najib...

I ahve already said that this is the stretegy to get Selangor to become a BN state thru fair or foul means it doesn't matter. The government is also trying to use the courts to stop the protesters by asking shop keepers & business to sue the organisers. They are using the same tactic as Singapore...just make the opposition leaders bankrupt and see what they can do after that....works in Singapore.

Of course, because they still need the Chinese for votes they don't want to be seen only harassing the chinese DAP leaders resulting in Teoh's untimely death and the resulting UPROAR and possible erosion of the Chinese support.

If not why suddenly switch to going after a Malay opposition leader with such great publicity? To show you are not racist? To assure your chinese supporters you are fair and just? Don't insult our intelligence. smilies/grin.gif smilies/grin.gif

Figures that run into millions are not corruption. They are commissions. Small figure like two thousand four or a few hundreds could cost you your lives. So, beware. If you want to take a bribe make sure that it's huge. Something that runs into billions, perhaps?

Btw, the harassing MACC are no better than the former ACA. They are but the tools of UMNO. To get around it is to rid ourselves off UMNO.

If Khir Toyo used RM1 million for his personal expenses, GERAK will say that such money is justly spent because Khir Toyo is deserved to be given for such amount. PEWARIS will support GERAK by contending that a Malay must have privilege, especially Khir Toyo is UMNO leader who is fighting for Malays rights.

Conversely, if Khalid Ibrahim spent RM10k for his own constituency, GERAK will quickly lodge a report to MACC, ppolice, cc to PM, DPM and all UMNO division heads. PEWARIS will hastily call a press conference to tell the whole world as if Khalid Ibrahim is a traitor to the Malays because RM10k was plundered. All UMNO ministers will at least for a week to give comments on that RM10k. RTM, TV3 and TV9 will non-stop air the so-called scandal of RM10k.

That is the political scenerio in Malaysia now.
