(The Star) - DAP leaders are up in arms against Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong for suggesting links between a state exco member and the underworld.

DAP executive council member Ronnie Liu said Wee’s insinuation stemmed from a grudge he held against party leaders.

“Wee has made many baseless accusations against DAP leaders. He has not been able to substantiate even one of these,” he said.

Wee was a former DAP member and Bukit Bintang MP in the early 1990s. He left the party to form the Malaysian Democratic Party. He contested under the PKR banner in the 2008 general election.

Wee had alleged in his blog that the office of a certain executive councillor was used as a meeting place for people connected with underground business activities.

Liu said, based on Wee’s allegations, it was obvious that he had never visited the state secretariat building. “If he had, he will know that everyone has to register to get a pass to come to our offices. Only someone with the pass can operate the lifts,” he added.

Liu said the entire building was affixed with closed-circuit television surveillance system, and given this, it was easy to know who visited the executive councillors’ offices daily.

Selangor senior exco Teresa Kok urged the police to investigate Wee’s allegations.

She said Wee should be prepared to face the consequences if his allegation could not be proven.

“In all fairness, the police must take appropriate action against him if his allegation is found to be baseless.”

Kok said she was not surprised that Wee had made such an allegation as he used to be a troublemaker when he was in the DAP.

Selangor Speaker Teng Chang Khim said Wee should have directed his complaints to Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, instead of pointing it out in his blog.

“If the allegation is true, stern action should be taken by the state. There is no two ways about it and the exco member should resign,” he said yesterday.

No one is perfect. This goes the same for political parties too.

I feel strongly that PR must not adopt the way of UMNO/BN. They have been continuously sweeping all and asunder under the carpet when it comes to covering up misdeeds by politicians. From corruption to rape to murder.

I do not expect all PR politicians to be squeaky clean too. There must be one or two rotten apples in the barrel. And my advice, if it is of any use at all, is not to ignore this problem. If it is found to be true, then the perpetrator must be dealt with - firmly and swiftly.

And I believe that by doing so not only are we getting rid of the undesirables in the party but the party will gain more respect from the rakyat.

Again my plead: Do not do what UMNO/BN have been doing all this while. Trying to cover up to preserve a perception of 'cleanliness' and unity will backfire in the long run.

WEE CK, why you kept your damn bloody mouth shut when the links of IGP with underworld was so widely reported in MT supported by numerous SD, etc? Sounds suspicious right, nevertheless let the police investigate and confirm beyond doubt what has been alleged. BUT I would be very wary about this guy WEE CK and PKR leadership had better be mindful, the last thing PR needs are narrow minded politicians.

Yes Wee could have seen the MB or he could voice it out. Since he voice it out in his blog, no point saying he is trouble maker etc. MB should call him and investigate the issue. If the MB thinks there is a case, let the police take over and he then needs to work around how he is going to address the issue internally while waiting for police to investigate. if there is no case, MB can still ask for a police investigation to satisfy the non believers but Wee will need to issue a public apology.

I do agree with Horizonline - Ronnie has got many BN politician traits. And he inviting lots of skepticism with his arrest at a massage parlour, taking a stand on Subang Ria against the residents and his handing of meetings at the draft plan was far from acceptable.

Teresa Kok was most defensive when she heard about Wee's allegations so much so I almost thought she was the one being referred to. I think Wee should tell us all who this councillor is and let him defend himself otherwise just belt up or you risk causing damage to Pakatan

These people are an endless nightmare to the Pakatan. When I was in primary school, a close friend of mine taught me in his mother tongue to call these type of characters "...nang bo ti nang, qui bo ti qui...."
