(The Star) - DAP’s Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim has accused former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo of having spent an estimated RM24mil on a palatial home in Section 7 here.

In an immediate response Khir has denied the house cost so much and has threatened to sue Ng for slander.

Ng, who took reporters and photographers to the house Monday, said Dr Mohd Khir had bought two lots of bungalow plots for RM2.9 mil and RM900,000 respectively.

He had also imported fixtures as well as furniture from Bali and he said he was puzzled how he could have afforded to build such a house on his salary as the mentri besar for eight years.

He said that since current Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had declared a monthly salary of RM48,000, Dr Mohd Khir’s wages would have been around the same region.

His income from the eight years as mentri besar would have totaled up to about RM4.6 mil. How could he afford to have spent about RM24 mil on his house?, he asked.

He said mentris besar and assemblymen were also not allowed to conduct businesses and therefore Dr Mohd Khir would not have had other sources of income.

He was only a dentist and had even lived in a rented house in Sekinchan before becoming an assemblyman and so how could he have amassed so much of money to buy such a property?, he asked.

Ng also gave reporters copies of land search documentation, which confirmed that Dr Mohd Khir and his wife Datin Seri Zaharah Kechik were the landowners.

Ng also said it was questionable as to how Dr Mohd Khir managed to purchase the second plot of land for only RM900,000 which was way below market price.

Ng also urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the matter but said he would not lodge a report with the agency, as he had no confidence in it.

Meanwhile, Dr Mohd Khir said there was nothing for him to hide in regard to the house.

“I bought the house for RM3.5mil with a loan I obtained from HSBC. I did not buy the land and build the house on it,” he added.

He said he had only replaced the roof and done some minor renovations but had not moved into the premises yet.

“My contractor has absconded and the work has yet to be completed and that’s why I haven’t moved into the house yet,” said Dr Mohd Khir.

Dr Mohd Khir said that he would also be instituting legal action against Ng for defaming him and leveling various allegations against him without evidence.

“I cannot tolerate this anymore. I will sue him for his attempts to tarnish my reputation,” he said.

Dr Mohd Khir also asked Ng to help sell the house for RM24 mil.

“If he can do this, I will give him 50 percent as commission and use the remaining RM12 mil to pay off HSBC and buy a good house in Damansara,” he said.

RM3.5 million and RM24 million is a vast difference.
Perhaps an independent professional housing agent can give us an estimate.
Yet, RM3.5 million for a house on his MB's salary - he must have saved every sen!!

Khir's total salary for 8 years as MB was RM4.8 million. He claimed his palace was RM3.5 only.

Didn't he spend a single cent on food, maintenance on his life style, his facial uplift which may run into millions of ringgit? Syoru missed ke?

Penipu besar. What a joke. A real liar of the century.

I think Mr. Ng should take up Dr Khir's offer. But let do a reasonable calculation of the price.

If Khir took the bank loan on the 1st day he became MB and at 10% interest and hasn't paid a sen since, based on simple interest calculation ( let's assume it is compounded over 8 years), he would have owed HSBC RM7.5million. He promised to give half to DAP, hence let's put the house onto the market at RM15million.

How Dr Khir? No need to talk about suing. Sell it at RM15million and the whole of M'sia will call you a hero and your reputation will be highly polished - not tarnished . And you can put the "pie" in Mr. Ng's face too!
