By Resident Wangsa Maju

When my flight from Jakarta touched down KLIA at 10.45pm last night, I noticed the H1N1 screening counters (right before the Immigration checkpoint) had closed shop.

Passengers just walked right into the country without thermal screening. If someone in that flight was carrying the H1N1, we would have had it (I'm crossing my fingers for the 7-day watch-period to be over without an incident for myself). Referring to the highlighted Bernama report above, I think the Health Minister doesn't know what's actually happening on the ground.

Hahahaha..."official 53 entry and exit points" konon....Hey, in the long stretch of Sabah coastline, it is more like 20,537 unofficial entry and exit points. The Indons and the Philippines come in and out of our country like my grandmother going in and out of Giant Supermarket. Talk about screening for H1NI? We don't even know if they carry a submachine gun.

The MOH is kaput...walk into a health clinic in a suburban or rural area....when it comes to medication....tidak ada stock?

What happened to the 100, 000 personnel where their leave was frozen. Still holidaying, jemputan kahwin, EL, MC, BTN or conferencing in some exotic location????

The non-ending battle between Liow and Merican at the Ministry must stop. This country is kaput because no matter what government the people elect, the civil servants get away with murder..

H1NI may not be lethal...but the fact that this country's preventive and public healthcare system broke down ages ago means that people will keep dying of dengue or the very next virulent pandemic that will hit the country.....

While it is no excuse not to do everything possible, including using thermal scanners to scan arriving visitors at all entry checkpoints, it should be known that anyone who contracted H1N1 doesn't immediately develop a fever. Fever will usually come 3 to 5 days after getting infected.

Thermal scanners were very effective against SARS because an infected person with SARS immediately develop a fever after being infected. Because of the delay in developing a fever, H1N1 carriers will usually get through entry checkpoints without being detected, even if there were thermal scanners to scan them.

Another measure that was implemented to contain SARS was to require everyone to fill-in "historical" cards that state where they have been and also inform the authorities where they will be staying in the country. This should be primary containment measure against H1N1.

The measures by MOH to ensure all arriving Malaysians comply with the 7 day self imposed stay at home is a joke! What about the foreigners that walk into the country?? Is the health minister saying that they are not carriers??? I think he has H1N1 of the brain.

H1N1 is not important to BN, creating trouble is their main agenda now, look Kg Buah Pala, Perak, Manik Urai etc.... more fun to BN. DAP, you should tie, zombie, najib, koh soh kun, samy, ong tee kiat to your rocket and fired them to the moon.
