Part of the Democratic Process is to have the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition (Najib and Anwar here) to meet once a month - This is Westminster style parliamentary democracy. It is practiced in UK, India, Mauritius, and most of the former British colonies.

That would never mean the Leader of the Opposition is betraying his people, party or voters if he was to meet with the PM. The aim of the regular meeting, at the Parliament in a separate chamber or at the Prime Minister's office and at times in the quarters of the of the Leader of the Opposition, was to discuss issues of national and localized interest.

This was also aimed at ensuring that the Parliament is run well and that the opposition has enough time to air its views in the August House. With this, the Opposition has direct access to the big shot who is running the country and it can question the PM on several issues and push their philosophies and ideas to higher levels if need be. It works in many democratic states that practices such principles.

Would Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak meet with Anwar Ibrahim, being the Prime Minister and Opposition Chief respectively? I have heard from some sources that the Prime Minister was once eager to meet with Anwar Ibrahim in order to straighten some issues and to possibly discuss the idea of a Unity Government. I also heard Anwar Ibrahim was altogether willing to discuss these issues with the Prime Minister. Now all these possible meetings did not go through for one reason: The fear of both political sides that this will be seen as a 'softening' of their leadership and the betrayal of their political struggles.

wonder who the writer meant as the de-facto 'deputy' opposition leader?

There is no point for Anwar to meet this shit Najis. Anwar has all the sincerity to make the country for all Malaysians, but not Najis. I have come to realise that Najis is only a proxy whose slogan "1Malaysia" is actually a ruse by Fat Mama whose slogan is "Want Malaysia".

Saudara Anwar, pls don't meet the monster. He wants you dead. Meet him only if he's ready to pass you the baton. No point meeting him if he uses the baton to stuff into your ass. That's fine. But my fear is he will stuff in into his own ass and there will be Sodomy 3 instead

The clash won't take place. It is clear now that Anwar will have to spend his time again in jail. The more quiet the government is the clearer it becomes. This means that there are already preparation to send him in for quite a while. Under the new law passed recently Anwar will be compelled to surrender his DNA and there shall be a matching of profile. It is unimaginable that Najib wouldn't want to take advantage over this. He is so patient to wait until the law is passed in parliament and the judiciary will move in.

The only chance Anwar will get is to ensure he leaves a credible and stable opposition that will win the GE in 2013 and work out his release from prison. But if PR failed to form the government Anwar will not see the daylight of the prison cell.

Have this been a practice during pat administrations?
I don't think so!
So, it's not likely Najib will want to start this practice now, even if he does not have the heavy baggage on his back!

Najib is a puppet who's strings are pulled by powerful vested interests. He would not be allowed to make a decision of his own, so what's the point of him discussing anything with anybody
