GREEN is for the Islamic Party, PAS, whose politics are founded on religion. A dangerous mix indeed. Politics concern the outer world and religion the inner.

Ideally the inner and outer ought to be aligned and in dynamic balance. But who determines the parameters of inner space, the dimensions of belief and faith? A panel of ulamas (spiritual leaders)?

There have been many theocratic nations that have lasted hundreds, even thousands of years. Ancient Egypt flourished for millennia and it was a civilization built around the concept of the Pharaoh as a divine manifestation. Tibet was for centuries essentially a lamacracy ruled by lamas with the Dalai Lama as titular head. Constantine and, later Charlemagne, tried to establish a Holy Roman Empire with Roman Catholicism at its core. Salah ad-Dīn Yusuf ibn Ayyub aka Saladin had the same vision of conquering the world for Islam. America under the Neocons may be said to have been the reincarnation and modern manifestation of a 4,000-year-old dream of a Unified Judeo-Christian World.

During zaman Nabi the Jews, Christians and Muslims lived peacefully alongside each other for many years so can we leave religion out of politics and live in peace? God is everywhere - with or without religion and its rules. Religion, religious rules and religiosity only complicates matters

Well... that differentiates Islam and secularisme. Islam looks on life as a whole, while secular divides religion and politic. In Islam you live as a muslim in every aspect of your life; to eat, to pray, to educate your children, what more to rule a society. All is stated and clearly prescribed in the QURAN. Ulama can only teach and tell but all of the teaching would only come from the two sources; the quran and al hadits. Hence the saying, "Islam, the way of life".

There is no convincing rational proof that god exists.
Thus it is ridiculous to rule humans based on
immutable unchangeable laws handled down from a thing
that does not exist.

At the core, its about which approach will yield the best quality-of-life for all.

Govern by rules-of-religion verses rules-of-man-made-laws.

History has shown and proved that the rules-by-religion approach has failed the test of time.
The christian tried it in the crusades period, Saluheddin tried it, the Mughals (of india) tried it, china tried the communist way (now changing) - all had massive conflicts and good only continue by coercing the masses.

But one system has in the span of a very short time (200-300 years) delivered on the greatest improvement and advancement to the quality-of-life of man.
(no prizes for guessing - the constitution of the USA)

No system is perfect and without flaws - the key is relative performance and outcome.

Religion is based on beliefs that often comprises claims and not verified truths. So when religious beliefs coincide with scientific truths, they hold. Otherwise religion often interferes even in the quest for truth as in the case of Galileo or stem cell research.

Any political system or civilisation that binds itself to religion above everything elese is therefore doomed to fail from the start as has been shown in repeatedly in history without exception. People who lack fortitide often tend to seek solace in beliefs, even it is hogwash that is taught as religion. But they do not stay there; they go on to impose their beliefs on others and are even willing to kill for the sake of their religion. So much respect for God!

Can any one cite one example in the history of world where a country that put religion at its centre and at its top, had actually succeeded to become a role model for the rest of the world even to this day?

There is no doubt there are forces in the universe that are beyond us and for the lack of explanation as yet, we call them God and doings of God. Like those days when it was taught that disease is the result of offending the Gods. Where science is still struggling to find the right answers, religions quickly seized the opportunity to claim an all knowing monopoly over God. Holding that religion is the only key is most self-deceiving, self-serving and misrepresenting the truth.

I’m an atheist, get me outta here!’
Barry Duke on July 3rd, 2009
Religion should not be a subject for entertainment programmes.

These were the words thundered by Hamza Aktan, Chairman of the High Board of Religious Affairs in Turkey, after he learned details of a game show aimed at converting atheists into believers.

Those competing to lure 10 non-believers from the path of godlessness will be a Muslim imam, a Christian priest, a rabbi and a Buddhist monk.

In Penitents Compete (Tovbekarlar Yarisiyor in Turkish), the religious leaders will seek to convert at least one of ten atheists to their respective faiths.

According to this report, those that crack will win a pilgrimage to the spiritual home of their newly-chosen faith; Muslims will go to Mecca, Jews and Christians will go to Jerusalem and Buddhists will go to Tibet.

Religious authorities in Turkey are not amused by this barmy twist on the reality game show format – and the Religious Affairs Directorate is refusing to provide an imam for the show.

A team of theologians will ensure that the atheists are truly non-believers and are not just seeking fame or a free holiday.

Said spoil-sport Hamza Aktan:

Doing something like this for the sake of ratings is disrespectful to all religions.

But the makers of the game show are unrepentant and reject claims that the contest, scheduled to begin broadcasting in September, will cheapen religion.

Kanal T TV chief executive Seyhan Soylu said:

We are giving the biggest prize in the world, the gift of belief in God. We don’t approve of anyone being an atheist. God is great and it doesn’t matter which religion you believe in. The important thing is to believe.

Some 200 people have so far applied to take part in the show and the ten contestants will be chosen next month.

Okay. What's an example of something that could convince ou that god is real?
Well, if the stars rearranged one night to spell, "I AM GOD AND I AM REAL" that would probably do it.
