(The Star) - KUALA LUMPUR: Three men, who are believed to be attempting to revive the outlawed terrorist organisation Jemaah Islamiah (JI), have been arrested under the Internal Security Act.

The trio, aged between 43 and 53, were arrested on June 25 in Ulu Tiram and Masai in Johor by Special Branch officers following months of investigations.

Sources said that the three, all locals, were believed to have met with Mas Selamat Kestari, the Singaporean JI leader who was arrested in May in Ulu Tiram.

They said police arrested them under Section 73 (1) of the ISA that will enable them to be detained for 60 days.

The trio were believed to be ordinary members of the JI. The sources said police were investigating if the three had recruited any more members over the past few months.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan confirmed the arrest but declined to elaborate.

What more justification do you need to retain the ISA. How timely is that?

For all we know, the three men are just innocent villagers who were just unlucky enough to have met Mas Selamat during the time he was hiding. How do we know they are really guilty without a fair trial?

First I agree in general with those that want to abolish ISA ... the ISA is needed, but not the way it has been abused ...

Now we have this crap called JI which the world wants to hunt down ... and supposedly as a nation/govt we agree ...

So my question is ... why are we detaining them under ISA ? and wasting our resources ...

If these elements are a threat to the world and our nation ... surely as the oft claim of national security, we have units that can TERMINATE such elements ...

And a public consumption story released ...

So my next question ... who are these 3 that are being kept alive ?
