......Gov’t pays Fox Communications RM 200,000 to ‘fix image’ of cops

(The Star) - IPOH: Police maintain there was no foul play behind the death of drug suspect Choong Soy Soy at the Bercham police station lockup on June 27.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias said his investigation officers have recorded statements from the inmates saying that Choong had indeed slipped and fallen in the toilet between 9am and 10am that day.

ACP Azisman said the inmates heard a loud noise and found Choong on the floor.

“The suspect was still conscious and was able to talk when we found him after the accident,” ACP Azisman said on Wednesday.

“He also declined to go to the hospital and said he was alright,” he said.

Choong was sent to the hospital after policemen noticed that he was bleeding from the nose, said ACP Azisman.

Choong fell into a coma two days after being admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital where he died on Tuesday morning, he said.

ACP Azisman said the case was investigated as sudden death and a post-mortem report would be submitted by the hospital to the police soon.

Should police station toilet floors be upgraded so no slipping will happen? Just a kind suggestion. :-)

List of common reasons why detainees died in police custody in Malaysia:

a) Slipping and fell his head off the toilet bowl.
b) Pneumonia
c) Old age
d) Too young
e) Hunger strike

and most of the above reasons are supported by the officer in charge with witness testimony from inmates.

List of impossible reasons...

a) Head bashed by wooden chairs during interrogation
b) Being tied for hours on block of ice
c) Eye punched with knuckle duster
d) Butt-kicked while doing squatting routine
e) Not given food, water and medical treatment for days

God Bless Blast Polis Di Raja Malaysia!

Very common story about people slipping falling and knocking the head against the floor and dying. This usually happen to old people and could be the result of a stroke or heart attack. In normal persons it is quite difficult to suffer such trauma as if the person is conscious he will automatically break his fall with his hands and thus would not suffer much brain damage. Just an observation.

The police, the federal government, they are simply a disgusting bunch of people.
The "media" did not promote the negative impressions against them. It is they themselves who did it in the first place. If only they can just buckle up and do their job well and fair.

Mama Juwie,

It is neither "God blast PDRM" or, "God Bless PDRM". As they are too powerfull, it should be the other way around!!!

They are behaving more like God too. . ., they determine who lives and who dies in their custody!

Why of all places, people only dies in police lockup toilets? Why not shopping mall toilets? Why not restaurant toilets. Or pub toilets? They seem to be the most dangerous as people can consume alcohol before going in those places. But police lockup toilets? Now someone please explain or are they trying to push for budget to revamp all police facility toilets to enrich some 'friendly' contractors.

Yeah, sure, we believe hand of god caused him to look like he slipped in the toilet and hit his head really hard against a bowl. Sure, we trust that he said he didn't need medical attention completely volunteerily without any kind of fear of whatsoever nature over his life.

It's always the same reason. The prisoner hurt himself. The prisoner fell and hurt himself, or got himself killed when his head knocked against the floor. Remember some time back, an Indian man was killed when he escaped and jumped into the river. It was an accident, said the police. There have been more than a thousand deaths in PDRM lockup. I suppose they all died accidentally.

if one slipped and fell in a hotel toilet, he can sue the hotel for negligence
if one slipped and fell in a kopitiam toilet, he can sue the cinaman for negligence
if one slipped and fell in a toilet of the queen's prison, surely the prison admin can be sued for negligence at the queen's pleasure
if one slipped and fell in a toilet di raja malaysia, shouldn't the pdrm be held accountable for negligence?

If that is the case, don't waste rakyat money to hold an autopsy when any detainee dies in lock-up. Just say slip, fell down and knock his heads against the floor and god blasted him to 6" under. Excuse and bodoh always

The only way to make those police lock-up toilets non-slippery is to place those policemen in them. Then the whole place will not be slippery.

There are too many detainees dying in the lock-up. I suspect the bigger police thug arranges the so called fall and make it look like an accident to cover up their involvement in drugs and prostitution.easy way to get rid.the other way is shoot first and talk later// place a gun beside the dead guy and say police did it in self defence.or use c4..no sign no nothing.

Choong Soy Soy dies after “slipping and falling” in police detention.....

Mind you, our boys in blue/black have all the laws on their side, this time they are using the law of gravity. Previously, when these vermins were dealt with, they repeatedly attacked our belovedly kind polis by attacking the polis batons with their heads or mauling polis boots with the backsides... luckily the polis also have the law on their side... the laws of physics... action and reaction are equal and opposite...

So there you have it... our Polis di rasuahraja is completely blame free!
Rasuah sayang eh!

Dead due to slipped and fallen in the toilet ???

How high the toilet located from the floor?? May be it is too high, I thought..

Or.. maybe thats guy had fallen into toilet bowl and his head plunged in the bowl..

or.. may be the toilet had fall into thats guy, thats why he died...

ha.. ha.. another unacceptable reason by PDRM..

By the way... how about Kugan case???????

It is time we had a new IGP. The current holder is two/three years past retirement age and was not able to implement the IPCMC.
Unless the police accept the IPCMC without reservations, paying RM200k for the image makeover is simply wasting public funds.
We need tough decisions and actions and not such wimpish efforts.

I think it should be made compulsory for the Police to have a Insurance Programme to insure the Life of all detainees, just like employers are asked to buy for their maids/domestic helpers. There are statistically way too many deaths from "natural causes" in the police-lock-ups. If there is proven negligence, the Insurance companies can then sue the IGP and the Police Departments to get reimbursement on their payouts.
The IGP's should have a new KPI by Najib1Malaysia and KPI-KOH ie. Zero Deaths in Police Custody. The IGP must be sacked if he fails to meet his KPI.Anyone has the Balls to implement this??Fat hopes with this current Govt in place!!
