Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today questioned the sincerity of the prime minister in announcing a new merit-based scholarship programme obviously aimed at winning back Chinese voter support from Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

“Last time, when I said it, I was called a Chinese agent. Now that Najib has said it what are you going to call him? Is he now a Chinese agent and traitor to the Malays?” said Anwar sarcastically when asked today about the new scholarships to be based purely on merit.

The Opposition Leader has been frequently labelled a “traitor” and “Chinese agent” by Umno leaders since he launched PR’s reform agenda.

Anwar’s PR has successfully used its Ketuanan Rakyat, or supremacy of the people, slogan to differentiate itself from Umno’s Ketuanan Melayu, or supremacy of the Malays, rallying cry which has caused concern even among non-Malay Barisan Nasional (BN) parties.

Now he say this than after a year the Malays of Ketuanan Group and UMNO will ask for quota system. There will be some hanky panky from the officers who are dealing with the scholarships especially in the PSD

Thus have I heard, imitation is the highest form of flattery. Now we all know who is the real leader of Malaysia and it is not Najis.

Najis' UMNO is so tainted with corruption and systemic problems that whatever policies he wants to be implemented is contaminated. Why? Because it's no longer a perception but the ugly truth that he can never erased.

The best outcome is that we now have a more enlightened rakyat who can discern what BN stands for. The voters know that BN does not stand for them. Instead, it's those who are willing to risk jail who have their interests at heart. PR leaders are prepared to stand up for what they believe in despite the threat of ISA.

Forget about 1Malaysia. The rakyat is after something better and that is, A NEW MALAYSIA!

We should be careful of a guy who speaks with forked tongue but equally we should also be very careful of a guy who spoke and yet had not spoken smilies/grin.gif .

He pre-announced the announcement he had yet to make. Politicians often use this to gauge public responses. If the responses were negative they would start to backstep and tried to mean something other than what we thought he meant.

If substantial number of malays were to come out and start to defend the yet unannounced policy then he knew he had found the gold lode.

The WORD "QUOTA" is an emotionally loaded word in malaysia. But quota is never always bad such as having a quota for need-based scholarship. What is often objectionable is the criteria that is used to set the criteria.

Perhaps our PM should at least announce the basic principle underlining his new policies. DSAI was right that Najib's idea was half-baked. Najib was fishing for sure.

Over to you, PM ! Like in the movie Grease, "tell us more, tell us more" 8-).

Najib’s crooning our tune now, crows Anwar...maybe thats true but I am not so sure if you are any better.I dont think so.You want to do bring back maths and english in Bahasa malaysia. All i can say is good luck to you bro Anwar.Najib is making an attempt to unite all races and at the same time taking care of the malays.I think thats good politics. If the PM can transform the police and judiciary and make it completely free and independent. The PM has the rakyat votes.I dont care about political parties. What i care is how do we as rakyat benefit and grow as a nation.
