Malay group publishing Chinese dailies? PDF Print

Hopefully, we will see a Malay group, such as the Utusan Group or NST Group, publish a Chinese-language newspaper very soon.

By Tay Tian Yan (Sin Chew Daily)

Perhaps, this could meet the expectations of some of our Malay compatriots, with the hope that the "narrow-mindedness" and "wrongful concepts" of Chinese society could be rectified.

Besides, it should also satisfy some of the nationalist fighters who think "a Malay publisher is qualified to dictate the way Chinese newspapers should be headed to."

Most importantly, it will inculcate a culture of "gratitude" among the Chinese, who should be thankful to the merciful generosity of "other people" for being able to make a living and hold an indentity card here.

The publishing of this Chinese daily by a Malay group should end the "narrow-based" coverage on issues such as Chinese primary schools, independent secondary schools and the Chinese language. Besides, the "erroneous" disclosures of government irregulairites and monitoring of government policies will all be halted.

Going further, the Chinese community will no longer make a fuss about building more Chinese primary schools, demanding more qualified Chinese teachers, government recognition of the unified examinations or fair distribution of scholarships.

"If Chinese publishers are so useless, perhaps we should enlist the help of Malay publishing groups!"

Moreover, Chinese Malaysians will firmly support the New Economic Policy, and defend the bumiputra quotas and privileges.

And the Chinese will no longer believe in freedom, democracy, equality, justice, human rights and stuff like that.

Such things have been manipulated by the existing Chinese newspapers in collaboration with the Western media to create havoc in our society.

All of a sudden Utusan Malaysia begins to get concerned about Chinese newspapers. The media group made a special effort to probe the contents of Chinese papers published between 8 and 13 June, and discovered that these newspapers did not accept the mainstream thoughts of the country, still living in their own world and failing to see the prevailing environment!

To these patriots, Chinese newspapers are good for nothing where nation-building is concerned, unlike Utusan Malaysia which has since the colonial days been fighting for independence, changing the destiny of the Malays, and consolidating the leadership of the same.

Shouldn't Chinese journalists be ashamed of themselves and support the publication of a Chinese daily, or better still a few dailies, by a Malay group?

Weirdly, so "un-mainstream" Chinese newspapers are, their combined circulation has surpassed that of Malay and English dailies. Sin Chew Daily's circulation is larger than any of the mainstream Malay or English newspapers, Utusan Malaysia included.

I am also amazed that "narrow-minded" as they are, Chinese newspapers would carry news and editorials on PAS and PKR, even UMNO, much more generously than mainsteam Malay newspapers!

The number of reporters despatched by Sin Chew Daily and the coverage it carried during the UMNO and PAS general assemblies easily send the editors of Malay and English dailies in awe.

How could the Chinese newspapers constantly blamed for all the "wrongful concepts" carry so many incidents of administrative injustice and malpractices, yet get involved in so many cultural and charitable events?

If Chinese publishers are so useless, perhaps we should enlist the help of Malay publishing groups! (By TAY TIAN YAN/Translated by DOMINIC LOH/Sin Chew Daily)

Excuse me - Utusan publishing Chinese papers/news? Sudah lupa ke? Kalau betul, then Tun Mahathir is right, "Melayu (Utusan) MUDAH LUPA" smilies/grin.gif

Now, for NST Group to print - that will be interesting coz I wonder the Group CEO is allowed in his stable of news channels before the shareholders close down the company?

Not to mention that the Chinese daily reporters are wasting the government resources. Becasue the reporters do not know how to report corectly, they need to be protected by the Home minister and be put in ISA. For their own good of casue. They are so previlage, no other profession in this country get protection in the form of ISA.

What is there to be amazed? The mainstream Malay newspaper only write good things about UMNO and bad things about the opposition so there isn't much to write about. How many good things is UMNO doing and how many bad things can you find about the opposition? When they have nothing good about UMNO to write they will publish articles close to seditious but nobody will make police report against them. Even if anyone did nothing will be done.

Excuse me, I've always assumed that the MSM includes the Chinese dailies.
Though I can't read Mandarin I have heard Sinchew is one of the most independent minded.
So the UMNOputras want to take over the publishing of the paper?
That'll make it go bankrupt quickly enough!!

Utusan is the problem and yet those in power do not want to see that or close both eyes. Utusan is the one causing racial problems and trying to create disunity.

Ladies and gentlemen, UMNO-BN war drum has started smilies/cheesy.gif

UMNO-BN fails to use unity government to make races to fight each others. Now they are picking on minority's language and schools, and see if they can succeed in get Chinese and Malays to fight, and they will become the jaguh kampung (hero). We also seen Rocky's Bru and Deminegara to raise "Satu Bahasa". Let's have a quiz here for everyone: what are next topics you are likely to see raised by UMNO and his gang in next few week? They are quite preditable smilies/grin.gif

This is a political warfare, we need to know how many sides they come hits you. Get ready!

May be Utusan is right. The chinese daily should help to glorify the ketuanan melayu concept and tell the malaysians of ethnic chinese to be forever grateful to the bumiputras (eventhough some of them just got their bumiputra status recently having just cross the malacca straight) for "giving" them the citizenship eventhough they are born here. The chinese daily should also tell the malaysians of ethnic chinese that they should not expected to be treated fairly and equally in this country if they want to continue staying here. Is this the message that this racist newspaper wants from the chinese daily? Is this racist newspaper telling the chinese daily that they should run the same racist stands like them but only with stories in favour of the its community while others should show their gratitude generations after generations until the end of time? Stupid and racist newspaper...and yet they think they practise a religion that disallows discrimination and deprivation by force on all people and encourage the followers to treat all people fairly and equally. What a bunch of hypocrates they are...

Looks like the purpose of Utusan group to publish a Chinese paper(S) is to brain wash Chinese readers to accept and agree with Utusan editors like Awang Selamat.

I agree Utusan should be allowed to publish what I supposed will be a free paper (like the sun, for I can't imagine the group will be able to sell them for profit) for readers to wipe their asses or wrap their salted fish. smilies/smiley.gif

the 2Us of Malaysian problem UMNO-UTUSAN and their die hard followers really believe Malaysia is solely and rightfully belonged to one race called Malay just because the name of Tanah Melayu or Malay Land. Same sentiment from the German Neo-Nazi, Serbs, Jews, and other right wing extremists. So, why Malay still condemn Isreal for the brutality on Palestinian? Why shouting Save Gaza Save Gaza? Few more years, if we let them still have the power, we wil suffering from the worst racist and xenophobic society ever. I rather let PAS form the government than UMNO.
