My humble advice to our dearest Mayor is- your days of crooning your favorite song"Madu Tiga"(made popular by P.Ramlee)in Karaokes are over, and unless you buck up,I suggest you ship out gracefully and allow someone more competent to take over the job.
And by the way,I take it as a great insult, his offer of "Kopi-O"to me to promote him in my blog.

By Ronnie Klassen

KOTA KINABALU or KK in short, is the capital city of Sabah, East Malaysia and prides itself as having the 2nd busiest airport in the country, the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) which was recently upgraded at a whooping RM 1 billion(pic).

Gateway to Asean countries like Brunei, Indonesia and Philippines, KK is also passionately known as a “Nature Resort City”. KK or “Api” as it is popularly known among the local Chinese community was transformed from a once sloppy, unsystematic and sleepy water village into a bustling town and favorite port of call for many international cruise ships.

While a majority of tourists and golfers from all over the world who visit KK would reckon that KKIA is a first-class international airport, the traffic system of KK City is however a nightmare to many, with traffic congestion a common scene in the city(pic).

Hence, there had been numerous calls by concerned citizens as well as NGOs in the past, urging the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to improve the traffic system in the city.

Ironically, instead of improving the infrastructure for the traffic system, recently, we have Beaufort-hailed Federal Deputy Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Lajim Hj Ukin(pic) announcing that the Federal Government will spent RM200 million to construct a new headquarters for the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK).

A lot of people whom I know called me up to express their disgust over the announcement which they thought was questionable if not ridiculous. Many of them also took the Mayor of KK to task for failing to set the priorities right.Crystal clear is the newly implemented transport(bus)system in the city. The total monopoly of a bus company appointed by DBKK as the operator of the city routes is further testimony of bad governance.Who is behind this city bus company?

Countless complains and grievousness's has been brought to the attention of DBKK by businessman, traders and city folks and highlighted by the main stream media.Until DBKK comprehends what economic survival really means, city folks will have to continue to dig deep into their pockets, perhaps even skip meals just to pay the extra bus fares. Government of the People by the people for the people?Think again, the people have been short changed big time.

They love to waste the tax payers money for their own interests! And will still continued to do that.... till ends up in debts! Then only no one wants to take the blame just like Port Klang Free Zone... see what i mean ...pointing fingers here and there! While trying hard to cover facts, giving excuses, thwarted any serious investigation into the matter... and still can say this is not me doing.... a typical malaysian politics style

Kota Kinabalu will continue to be plagued with serious problems, unless and until the people of Sabah wake up and make a change.

Easy explanation. RM 200 million for new HQ - will be given to crony contractors. Everybody got big bucks from this project. Can spend on divisional meeting & gathering of all BN parties, with UMNO the biggest share.

Why not use the money to improve life of KK people? BN crooks are having "fixed deposit interest" by creating and solving petty problems. Why solve it once and for all? As long as got petty problem forever, they will reap the interest from this "fixed deposit" for very long term. Why kacau? Why bother to solve?

Sabah is the pioneer in katak politics. The incumbent and opposition are 2 kali lima. Harga pengundi Sabah semasa pilihanraya hanya seguni beras dan RM30 dalam sampul. Tiada jati diri.

In order for Sabah to improve, it must come from her own ordinary people and not the current pathetic politicians from both political divide.

What do you expect from an ex cop? The guy sucks as Mayor and everybody know it except Musa and Umno.

The other Sabah BN partners (leaders) are merely pak turut with no vision. The development in KK city centre is rojak and a real eye sore.

I was there, there observing them how they would interact. The civil service is what every Rakyat encounter frequently every other day of their life. The more than obvious factor is what one gets out from these people who are supposed to 'serve' from the moment one gets to these officers. Meeting these people in the govt.institutions, be it KK city council, Road works and many other depts within is really a big challenge. The degree of politeness is commendable, however we are there to carry out a task of whatever chores they might be, that is too see that we get out satisfied for what we get in for. You will be pleased by their friendliness, but wait until you sit down with those people who are supposed to be entrusted with specific duty to serve your needs - draws a BLANK! Perhaps they are good at listening( if they really were) and mind you, you would be talking and telling what your purpose is. You are lucky 'if' they open their mouth to say something in response to what you explaining your ingredients, then you realised you have begun playing 'host' in their office, at best they could offer a word or two would be - 'we will see' and the moment you hear that you will know it is headed no where. They stare at you in the face(not in the eyes) it is like they are seeing you as a mirror of their ghosts. They practically are like 'voodooed' and nothing is going to happen for whatever purpose you are there for. This is similar to some top dept. heads too(sorry if their heads still belong to their own bodies). I can see their eagerness to hear and learn but their dullness on their faces paint a picture of a overwhelming shadow behind them, so depressing of them. Wish I could scream them in their ears to help them wake up from the spell they had been put under otherwise they would have been better in terms of first impression service from their display of a smiley logo-faced, compared to those in the ugly and bitter departments of their counterparts in the Peninsular.

These civil service people there are seriously needed professional help if they are to be given position, they be empowered to serve effectively within the institution independently than mere listeners with 'true blankness on their face'. They look demoralised and the more you see(meet) them the more you become demoralised, yes you get 'depressed' too. Just like a psychiatrist gets depressed after having seen too many people who were depressed.
Today after 8 months, one reads this article and the mode of depression sets in again. It is beginning to hallucinate again after the same drugs has been prescribed for a voodooed spell cast on zombies' civil services. They need to be helped - to move from the state of blankness(blurry sotong-ness) to a state of enthusiasm of sevice, action-oriented and the crucial part is to MINUS the 'SHADOWS' from the state of politicians' hands on. For The state of Sabah to strive......the civil service being in the forefront it seriously needs to do empowerment to the respective instituitions and re-trained and de-possessed the spirit of the haunting and sneaking Shadows of PoliticKINGS .
To Buck up or ship out in the civil service.Politicians or PoliticKINGS, so much of them being IRRESPONSIBLE and SELF-ENRICHING are the result of BAD GOVERNANCE that put the State in such a "STATE".
Tomorrow is just another at the government offices - of BLANKNESS.
No, I hope is FILLED with ENTHUSIASM, ENTHUSIASM TO LIVE FOR YOUR CHILDREN .

Hey Ronnie!! Now you Sabahans are truly Malaysians. We West Malaysians are used to mega sums spent on the wrong projects and the monopoly of a bus company for KK is taking a leaf out of West Malaysian practices. They must have copied Rapid KL who is the lastest in a line of bus company monopolies all over West Malaysia that has turn West Malaysia public transport into the gigantic mess it is today.
