Datuk Seri Najib Razak appeared to play the religious and race card today when he appealed to PAS to reconsider the proposal for a unity government with Umno.

The Umno president also dismissed the notion that a unity government would fly in the face of his 1 Malaysia concept, even though a number of non-Muslim groups, including political parties in his Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, have expressed concern.

But he appealed to PAS to act in the name of Malay and Muslim unity.

“PAS should not let politics prevent it from doing something which is beneficial for Malay/Muslim unity,” he told reporters at a public function today when asked to comment on how many Malay groups had been disappointed with PAS for rejecting a unity government with Umno.

On Monday, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders rejected Umno's unity government proposal, and proclaimed all issues surrounding the fiasco which brought the fledgling opposition coalition on the brink of collapse resolved.

Instead, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the de facto PKR leader, said the alliance of PAS, PKR and DAP would focus on their preparation for the next general election and a potential takeover of the federal government.

PAS continues to be in turmoil over the unity government proposal which not only affected ties with its political partners but has caused friction in the party as well.

Sensing the weakness in the opposition alliance, Umno has moved in an attempt to cause further division in PAS and in PR by pressing ahead with the concept of Malay and Muslim unity.

Today, Najib said that any move to strengthen Islam should be encouraged, in what was an obvious move to appeal to the concept of Islamic brotherhood within PAS.

The prime minister believed, however, that the country’s multi-racial nature would not be affected by a more united Malay-Muslim community.

“Just because there is a unity government does not mean the non-Muslims will be neglected. They will still have a role.”

1Malaysia vision by our PM is getting clearer and clearer now. It is to unite Malay and Muslims and slowly reveal it wants to sideline the non-Malay and non-Muslim. MCA, MIC, SUPP, Gerakan and others... so when are you going to demand an explanation from UMNO with what left of your supporters and you can bet you will win no seat in the next PRU.

All component parties are today the worse off after their affiliation with UMNO through BN. If PAS cant see this, then they deserve to rot like MCA etc after going to bed and being sodomised by UMNO smilies/angry.gif smilies/angry.gif smilies/angry.gif
Najib does not want to go to hell alone hence trying to drag a few others with him. He is afraid to meet Mongolians like Genghiz Khan waiting to give him a reception there. Neither does he want to spend eternity with Ro$mah there so he will keep trying. Right now, he will only have the IGP, AG,MACC chief ******* and many judges there for company

When can anyone in Amno stop talking about race and religion? Is it the only thing that they Know? Why cant they talk about malaysian unity. Dont forget there are lots of malays in PR and they dont talk like you people do. That is why they want Amno out so that all races and religion will be as one. No doubt that we practice our religions in different ways but we dont condamn each other but respect. ONly Amno will always use this tactics to split the malays with other races. This is the reason the malay supporters in PR want a change and together we can prosper. Anyway, the malays today are not as dumb as you think. You can bluff some of them some of the time but not all of them all the time. Keep talking c*ck more.

Do not UNITE with the uncouth, unscrupulous, and the dishonest. Period!!!

Imagine, now it is them using religion to cajole PAS, when all these while they are the ones doing everything totally unpalatable for any religion to accept. Which religion condone and encourage Corruption? Which religion condone and encourage bludgeoning the poor and disadvantaged for their own selfish gains?
