(The Star) - The Malaysian Medical Council probe into the doctor responsible for the first post-mortem report on the death of police detainee A. Kugan has stopped and will recommence only on Aug 21.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Abd Aziz told Tian Chuan (PKR-Batu) that the probe was supposed to have begun on June 19 but has been rescheduled.

“The Attorney-General’s Chambers has yet to begin the process of prosecution because it wants to obtain all evidence in relation to the case.

“This includes waiting for the results of the MMC probe,” he said in a written reply dated June 22, which was made available Wednesday.

Nazri said the A-G would only decide whether it would proceed with prosecution after it had obtained all the necessary evidence.

The inquiry was called after Kugan’s parents complained to the council, claiming that the first post-mortem was improperly done.

Kugan, 22, was detained by the police on Jan 15 for alleged car theft but died five days later while in police custody.

The conclusion was obvious. 'No foul play on part of the police that contributed to Kugan's death'.

The delay was part of UMNO/BN govt. to doctor the report. Case closed.

This is typical government at work. Whenever there is a scandal or high profile criminal case, just delay it till the public forgets. No accountability or transparency. End of the day, the criminal gets to walk away free. If things are always like this, how could the crime rate reduce? the are just no justice for the public. The police and government only works for certain people and the rest gets screwed.

They can get a court of appeal lawyer to sit in after 18 hours of application and make stay of execution in an hour, and just 1 week to assemble 3 man panel at COA for the Nizar-Zambry case, and its taking you six months to settle this?

As usual, I think the government is NOT interested to improve its image.

Another Wayang!!! Say-say only no need action.

if actions require, just outsource.

May I ask how investors will react to such inefficiency in dealing with high profile incidents?

Why still need to waste time probing and investigating. It's already a foregone conclusion that all those bastards for his death will walk scott free just like Mr Baginda. This is BOLEHland where anything can happen. Truly Asia whatever that means.
