(Bernama) - The call by PAS’ spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat that Nasharuddin Mat Isa quit as party deputy president for supporting a unity government is expected to be discussed at the party’s meeting which will be chaired by party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on Monday, said several party leaders.

According to them, Abdul Hadi who is now in London, is expected back this Saturday. Vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said he was surprised by the strong statement by Nik Aziz on Nasharuddin. However, he said, he did not take it as the beginning of a break-up of the party.

Another vice-president, Salahudin Ayub, said such matters were decided on at party meetingsfollowing party tradition .

PAS central committee member Datuk Taib Azamuddin Md Taib said he was confident the party’s top leadership would be able to resolve the matter.

Nik Aziz today openly asked Nasharuddin resign posts in the party as well as Bachok MP if he wanted to continue with the unity government agenda.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was confident the matter could be resolved wisely by PAS’s leadership while DAP senior leader Lim Kit Siang said he will hear for himself the clarification from PAS’s president at the meeting.

In ALOR STAR, Kedah Menteri Besar and state PAS Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak, said Nik Abdul Aziz should rather seek an explanation from Nasharuddin before deciding on the matter.

“As the head, Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) can call Nasharuddin, ask for an explanation … can’t make an assumption based on newspaper statements.

“True, Tok Guru opposes (a unity government) but it is too early to make a decision as there will be confusion and it is not pleasant among members,” he said.

Umno Gua Musang youth chief Bazlan Baharuddin said Nik Aziz’s statement was due to worry that PAS’s power was threatened in Kelantan.

what to explain la, the man said he welcomed the PM's words. The PAS muktamar has said no, so why should he says welcomed the PM's serious words with an open heart. he Nasa said PAS is based on collective decision thus PAS has already said no. So seems Nasa is still keen on this and trying to push his agenda forward.

Timely for Tok Guru to put his foot down cos the PAS grassroots want to stay away from an UMNO who is arrogant, corrupt and hypocrite. NASA should join UMNO if he wants to be part of the govt. Leave PAS cos PAS doesn't need virus from UMNO and contaminate PAS.

Calling for the resignation of the Deputy President of PAS who is also the mouth-piece for Hadi Awang is no small matter considering that it is coming from none other than Tok Aziz, the 'Spiritual Adviser' to PAS and its most venerated leader.

PKR and DAP have always had problems with the Ulama faction of PAS headed by Hadi. Tok Aziz's outburst has only corroborated the problems in PAS.

DAP and PKR have had their fair share of turncoats so it is not surprising that PAS's turncoats are coming out of the woodwork.

As far as I am concerned , PAS would be able to make a more meaningful contribution to Malaysia if the 'Erdoganist' faction become dominant in PAS.

PAS is poist for a break-up sooner or later. Better for it to happen now than in the future. Nik Aziz better start to flush the UMNO "puppets" even to the point that PAS will loose 30% of its members.
The attacks by Hadi and Nasharuddin will be in Kelantan itself getting some PAS MPs to turn themselves into jumping frogs and distabilise Kelantan DUN's majority. At the same time working tirelessly in Kedah and Selangor on the same scheme. Of course money changed hands and you know where the finance come from. The greatest devils are the the new group of corrupted PAS MPs who pretend to work towards the struggle of Islam.

If the Deputy President is so affectionately in love with UMNO/BN for whatever reason whatsoever, JUST LEAVE PAS. Simple as that.

PAS will be happy, PKR will be happy, and so is DAP.

The Prime Minister who is also the President of UMNO/BN said he sensed that PAS is sincere? Of course we are! We have always been sincere. By all means, you can have Nasharuddin and whoever you like in PAS. and we don't give a damn.

A man of principles, the reason why he's held in high esteem even by the non Malays in Kelantan!
Yes, don't be wolves in sheep clothings!!
IF you are given the authority to negotiate on PAS behalf, let it be known.
Else don't use PAS authority to negotiate with the UMNOputras!

I fully agree with Tok Nik. If the Deputy Pas President and even the President wishing to work with UMNO or BN, they should resign. PAS had already allied with UMNO once before but what happened to Pas then.

What is it said?? Tok Guru can ask for explanation...not make assumption based on newspaper statements..

You think Tok Guru only makes assumption based on newspaper? Or does he usually make assumption or he knows what he said isn't based on assumption??!

May I politely say,in all respect Islam is important to this country, the country insist upon Malay rights, official religion and language to be respected.Could we see more decorum within our Malay political leaders,be it government or opposition? A simple thing like if there is such talks between UMNO & PAS with regards to unity government, just tell the truth, stop changing things around. It's sinful as it is to lie in Islam or any other religion.

How does anyone convince a Malaysian to have the confidence to be a citizen with no qualms to the constituition and rights of just one race, when there is no assurance in anyone's manner to show for,to all people in this country and that they aim to ensure Malaysia's nation leads themselves into the future with healthy, positive, respectful minds..??

I think Tok Guru is cheesed off by the fact that nobody listens to him, the Spiritual Leader, anymore.

Anyway, it's for PAS to work it out, but Hadi and Nasha should already know which side the rakyat stands. So, good luck with The Romancing.
