Is there foul play in A. Gnanapragasam’s death or, for that matter, the post mortem? PDF Print

We all feel there is and will believe this is another cover-up but what is more intriguing and interesting is how the police decided to use Dr Prashant S. Ambekar to conduct the post mortem.

By R. Shan (Human Being)

Now that is food for thought. Would you actually believe everything is true in the post-mortem report when it was done by Dr Ambekar? That is one tough question, don't you think so?

The wife saw the husband on Friday, June 12, 2009 with bruised eyes. The deceased complained to the magistrate on the beating and torture by the police, yet the magistrate never summoned the police to conduct a medical test on him.

Then, on June 15, 2009 he is found dead in the toilet in the police station. When the wife and sympathizers visited his body at the mortuary, no cellphones and cameras were allowed.

On June 16, 2009, Bernama reports that Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said Monday night the cause of Gnanapragasam’s death was "toxaemia secondary to spontaneous peritonitis" or blood poisoning due to a bacteria infection in the intestines. He said the autopsy at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMCC) at noon yesterday was done by pathologist Dr Prashant Ambekar. Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohammed said the autopsy did not trace any bruises or injuries on the body.

Relating back to Kugan’s case, the same Dr Ambekar had disputed the findings of the Selayang fellow. And Health Ministry Director-General Dr Mohd Ismail Merican implied that Dr Prashant S. Ambekar's relative lack of experience had contributed to mistakes in his postmortem findings.

Doesn’t this sound all too fishy that the same doctor is now on top of the chart for the police to conduct the post-mortem for a murder of a Malaysian Indian in custody. After all, Dr Ambekar became famous for his findings in Kugan’s murder. Can anyone question him here on the findings of A. Gnanapragasam? Are we witnessing another conspiracy cover-up or is it a figment of my imagination?

I imagine the police is using the very same doctor who had captured the confidence of the people in Kugan’s case. Could he have been coerced by the might of the government to state otherwise? Your guess is as good as mine.

I don’t mean to insinuate anything here but I think you get the jist that the government along with the mighty police force is actually getting smarter in their attempts to hoodwink the public in their so-called governance without any impartiality.

For you and I, another episode in Bolehland Malaysia. But more so for a Malaysian Indian family, it is just another sad tragedy that never will see the light of justice in the pretext of all is fair and equal in a pseudo 1Malaysia.

PDRM can buy Dr. Prashant but can they answer these simple questions?

1. Why wasnt cameras or handphones allowed when the next of kin went to the mortuary?
2. What has the magistrate to say about the complaint by the deceased?
3. The deceased was bruised when his wife visited him. How did he get it? Why cover up everything and come up with a ridiculous statement???

People are no longer gullible.

Whether the post mortem is right or not is immaterial. The key issue is: Why are there so many deaths for "one natural reason or the other" in police custody. What happened to the person's rm3000 cash, cellphone and whatnot? How about the young guy who got beaten? Self inflicted injuries?

I have a feeling that the police nowadays is insulting our intelligence.

They only beat to death Indians who are NOT MIC members. Ask Samy Velu for further clarifications. Oh by the way, what happened to KUGAN's killer cops??

Some sort of ethnic cleansing going on here? All Indians only fall sick and die in police lock ups aa? The medical report can always be manipulated by the powers that be to suit their needs. The question is, why are there so many deaths in police custody? Why is it that all sorts of ailments only surface in police custody and that too at record times. Some kind of super bug is it which affects Indian lock up detainees but the police personnel are not affected at all? As far as I am concerned the death occured in the police lock-up and the police are guilty as hell for this death as they are for the countless deaths or shall I say murders. Kugan's killers still roam free. What the fcuk is this? If the next of kin of Gnanapragasam went in with cameras the story will be different I dare say. IPCMC really needed. The police are as guilty as hell. Barua bangsa punya polis. People, we must bring down this stinking BN Government first. After that these police bastards need to be investigated inside out and the corrupt ones must bear the full brunt of the law.

The Magistrate is also gulity as hell for not doing anything when the detainee complained. Magistrates give the remands so freely when applied for by the police. All those bullshit that they check the lock up diary and so on is pure bull. Suspend the Magistrate concerned also.Magistrates look into the mirror and ask yourself, are you there to uphold justice and protect the weak or are you there to act according to the whims and fancies of the police and the authorities in power?

MIC should realise by now, that not only there is a rising number of Indians who supposedly end up death due to natural causes, there also seems to be a rise in Indians that resort to criminal activity.Although dead and not actually charged, it's not only the deaths that needs proper investigation, the fact that they are engaging in alleged criminal activity should also be of concern..

This surely doesn't look good for the society..In Malaysia at the present moment where race has been an issue,I'm sure the thought crossed many non-Indians.
