By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani, The Malaysian Insider

He may not be aware of the irony but when Nasharudin Mat Isa, deputy president of PAS, said Nik Aziz Nik’s views do not represent the party, it is akin to the Islamist party rejecting its soul as the Tok Guru is PAS spiritual leader.

Nasharudin was, of course, referring to Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s speech at the muktamar last night, when he rubbished talk of a unity government.

“That is the opinion of Tok Guru, but in the organisation we take the party’s stance. Now there isn’t actually any concrete decision made by the party with regards Umno. The issue will be decided by the party,” he said.

Speaking at a ceramah held in conjunction with the party’s 55th muktamar (general assembly), Nik Aziz said those who speak of co-operation with Umno are apparently oblivious to the rivalry between these two arch-rivals throughout their existence.

Nasharudin added that PAS should not “shut the door” on having a dialogue with Umno even though Umno is PAS’s political enemy. He also continued defending the unity talks and said it was a necessity for the betterment of the nation.

“There are many current issues which need to be settled and answered. We think that being a major political organisation, we can contribute by trying to make an impact on the nation,” he added.

Nasharudin further defended the president’s engagement policy and stressed the importance of the party having an open attitude in order to remain relevant in the nation’s politics.

“We have an open attitude when it comes to holding discussions and we did not specify with whom. If MIC wants to discuss with us, we do not have any problem. If the problematic PPP wants to discuss and join Pakatan Rakyat then we welcome them to join,” he explained.

Nasharudin also confirmed that he is on good terms with defeated PAS deputy presidential contender Datuk Husam Musa.

“He was the vice president of the party for two years when I was the deputy and we have worked well together. There were committees that he headed and committees that I headed,” he said.

Nasharudin commented that it is up to him to recommend a position for Husam in the party’s central committee and that the party will meet on Wednesday to discuss this very issue.

Nstpravda....where is your poem? Seemed like a much deserved words from one like you.

Two tongues now collides, one from Pas of Nasharuddin and those from umno in the courting and mating game. It looks like things are taking a different shape in Pas? Tok Guru must be really hurt by such statements made by this new guy?

how now?

PAS may have difficulties handling success. If so, this party will also fall away and be part of UMNO. Let the people judge. Perhaps political expediency requires the newly elected leaders to embark on this path. Then it is better for PAS to reveal its true colors.

Those who aspire to achieve power for its own sake to amass wealth and attract fame will not serve the people's interests well. May be the rakyat are destined for long suffering beyond GE-13. Perhaps, there is no hope for political reforms in this beloved country.

Great. Now its the beginning of Hadi's faction's move to consolidate power. The first item on the agenda is to sideline Tok Guru, reduce or playdown the significance of Tok Guru's role in PAS.

Next will be spinning and weaving new angles to the UNITY government suggestion/plan.

Just mark my words.

This Unity govt thingy, being proposed by PAS (not by UMNO, mind you) smells somewhat fishy. What is the real intention/motive? Is it really for national interests? Or selfish interests of a few?

Because, if it is for national interests, it is so much more the reason not to cooperate with UMNO. And please note that PAS is only proposing to work with UMNO in this unity govt thingy, not BN. So, what say have the other component parties got to say? Nothing, zilch, zip! Just "we sink or swim with UMNO", so says MCA, Gerakan, MIC, PBS ......

Liew Chin Tong is talking nuts - - Nakhaie Ahmad (former PAS Sec-Gen) has been an UMNO spy/implant in PAS more than 10yrs before his betrayal/cross-over…..and we see Nasharudin the Nakhaie Ahmad substitute ,down the same path next 3 yrs to destroy PAS

The most damaging spin against Nasharudin’s campaign is that he is a political adventurist who will take PAS into Umno and that he will be another Nakhaie Ahmad, the highest ranking PAS leader to have ever crossed over to Umno.
Such allegations have been quite unfair to Nasharudin because he has neither the charisma nor energy to do that. At most, he will be a friendly face for Umno.

"Nasharudin Mat Isa, deputy president of PAS, said Nik Aziz Nik’s views do not represent the party".

Yes, I know that, and so the rest of ordinary members of PAS. What ?... you think we are stupid ??? You may be right to say that from the organizational perspective, but politically you're DAMN WRONG, and your statement is uncalled for.

As a PAS member of Titiwangsa, I find your statement is undermining the spiritual leader of PAS, YB Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

From now on I shall be following very closely of your actions, in particularly matters pertaining to your ideas (the president inclusive)to initiate talks and forming Unity Government with UMNO/BN.

Let me tell you here, I DO NOT AGREE TO YOUR STUPIP IDEA !

Looks like there's a traitor from within. Most probably already "kautim" by BeEnd. Better be alert before the whole party is destroyed. Control greed for power to stay on course. Tok Guru is wiser in running the party and all should listen to him!

Tok Guru is a much respected man even with non-Muslims. The day PAS ignores the much respected Tok Guru is the beginning of the end for PAS.

For a deputy leader who won with less than 50% of the votes cast, he sure behave as if he got the mandate to rubbish Tok Guru.

Who the *&#@ is nasharudin to talk about Nik Aziz like that. How did this idiot get elected the first place. He should talk like that before he is reelected next time. Then the delegates will let him know what they think of him.
