(The Star) - The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) will not accept Senator T. Murugiah back as he has caused much damage to the party and Barisan Nasional, said its president Datuk M. Kayveas.

However, those who were expelled with him would be allowed back, he added.

Kayveas also said that Murugiah could no longer hold his post as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department because “he has been sacked and has caused so much damage to Barisan Nasional and PPP. He must go.”

“But the door is still open to those who have been misled by the saga except for one person,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Last month, Murugiah and six other members were expelled for breach of party discipline following which there was a ding-dong battle with each claiming to be the rightful party president.

The Registrar of Societies (ROS) then confirmed Kayveas as the lawful president pending investigations and allowed the party general assembly to be held as scheduled tomorrow.

Kayveas also said that delegates were expected to raise the issue of Murugiah’s status at the assembly as they were annoyed with the problems he had caused.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would be opening the assembly tomorrow at the PWTC where more than 4,300 delegates are expected to attend.

In Keningau, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Barisan respected ROS’ declaration of Kayveas being the legitimate PPP president.

He asked all quarters to abide by the decision as it was based on law.

“Since the ROS has decided, we will respect it,” he told reporters after launching the state-level Teachers Day celebrations at the Ken Hwa Secondary School in this Sabah interior district yesterday.

Meanwhile, Murugiah said the ROS should not be making irresponsible statements before completing its probe on who was the rightful PPP president.

He said the ROS was sending the wrong signals to the public and party members.

I respect Murugiah even though he is with…yuck…the BN. That’s because he genuinely looks after and fights for the Malaysian rakyat, irrespective of race…and there are many of them whom most MT readers would be unaware of, until and unless you go and see for yourselves. Of course, some Malaysians are only aware of how he spoke up for Teresa Kok and Kugan, but as I said, he has spoken up for many, many more. Such a person can actually turn BN’s flagging fortunes around.

But BN is stuck with the extremely jealous Kayveas, who is getting away with it because of legal technicality. With Kavyeas there, BN will continue to sink faster than the Titanic.

Murugiah and his people should realize that BN is truly a BN End, and should jump ship to Pakatan.

Hello Murugiah,

You can forget about PPP lah. Join Pakatan and you may stand a chance to be elected in GE13.

With PPP, you can only dream so.

I'm interested to see whether Murugiah will hang on to his Senatorship. I don't think there's a provision in the Constitution for the PM or the Agong to fire a Senator. In the past, the PM would pull out the undated resignation letter that he made the Senators sign before being appointed. But since a court had decided in the case of the three Perak frogs that undated resignation letters are invalid, it would certainly put Najib in a dilemma.
