What's wrong with Hadi Awang? PDF Print

This issue has been festering for some time, but has now come to its head. It's certain dialogue undertaken between UMNO and PAS concerning Unity Government.

I just cannot believe that Hadi Awang the President no less of PAS is personally engaged in talking with UMNO on the reason that it's about the good of the people.

Does Hadi Awang know what's the likely outcome of such a dialogue?

1) It's free publicity for UMNO and it's purported fight for rights of Malay/Muslims

2) It's free publicity for Najib - PAS is willing to deal with him, not Badawi

3) BN still controls the majority in Parliament. Why do they need a unity government? It doesn't make sense for BN, and it makes Pakatan look like a fool

4) Seriously, does Hadi think that perhaps in a unity government he could be Deputy Prime Minister? Because no way in hell is BN, with majority, going to give Prime Ministership to him

5) What's this whole crazy idea about Malay/Muslim unity? We should be talking about Malaysian unity! A Malaysia that's united in our principles, which includes the right to think and freely decide for oneself, to have diverse opinions. Freedom of association to join a party of one's choice. Not being forced into choicelessness of one mega Malay group of parties

A PAS-Umno pact is unlikely but the real danger is that talks between the two may drive a wedge between PAS and its partners by creating suspicion and mistrust and drive voters away. Hadi Awang is just playing into Umno's hands who would like nothing better than to see PR break up.

Most people know. I know. And I think we all should know that PAS always have this hidden agenda behind their back. They know, by themselves, they will never attain power. KJ is absolutely right to say that PR with DAP and PAS is a marriage of convenience. Without PKR, they just can't jell. It is only when the chameleon will show their true colour. Magpie says the Chinese, and taking LGE as an example to be like LKY, will not share power once they achieve their objective and asking the Malay when thy are going to learn. The same should be asked of the chinese and indian when they are going to learn. People should know who Hadi Awang is. I hope Husam will win the Deputy President post of Pas and keep Hadi in check. I think, the non-muslim/malay should be more comfortable with Husam and his pro-Endrogan comrades. The next time when you want to throw your vote for the green moon, check the status of their leaders. Be sure what hidden agenda they may have. There is no secret that Hadi Awang is ambitious to be the PM of Malaysia one-day. And I hope his achievement will not be at the expense of the non malays. That's wait and see tomorrow's PAS election results. We are not against his PM ambition but it must be one of PM for all Malaysians and not just the muslim malays

Hadi Awang .. i am a malay and a muslim, why can't you think of national unity instead of your plans which is only meant for just one Malay/muslim race to be united. Malaysia is made up of various races and religions. Its a multiracial and multicultural country despite the 55% majority being malays/muslims. Its utmost paramount to unite all Malaysians irregardless of race and religion. We need these kind of political parties and leaders. Only than we can have unity ,peace and harmony, prosperity and progress to strenghten our nation. That should and must be your 1st top most priority.

The non-malays have voted for PAS as well and i believe more and more will place their votes and confidence in PAS if PAS were to think for all instead of just malay/muslims by merging with DUMNO. Please do the right thing and dont merge or deal with those thoughtless, corrupted evil devils in DUMNO who dont follow the actual islamic teachings.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Hadi Awang. Nothing at all.

He is just what he is...a politician with an ego and a huge ambition for power. His reference is simply this, "the ends will justify the means". So, even if it means he has to come to a pact with PAS's foe, UMNO, then you can expect Hadi Awang and his cronies will do it.

You may then ask, why is Tok Guru not like that, since Tok Guru is also a politician? The answer lies in whether a man who has religious credentials really abides in what he believes or he is merely a scholar. Tok Guru belongs to the former. Tok Guru is one man who is truly God fearing and a man of principles. Do you know that Tok Guru will switch off his office lights and use his own personal room for prayer? He believes that his prayer time is a personal time with GOD and if he performs his prayers in his office premises, then he is using state money. Thats Tok Guru for you.

Would Tok Guru want to be PM? Perhaps that could be a personal dream, but he knows his own capability which is why he is prepared to risk his political stature in PAS to back the "Erdogan" group which is comprised of professionals - people who are probably more savvy in modern management and governance.

Tok Guru also said, just a few months ago, that Islam is colour blind and all are equal in Islam. He said this during the furor just after raciist comments were made by UMNO members in Penang.

Compare that statement to what Hadi Awang's gang said about muslim and Malay unity. Stark difference, eh?

UMNO, to their credit, has succeeded in some measure (big or small, we won't know yet) in destroying the goodwill PAS has built up with the non-muslims.

Please don't ever say that Hadi Awnag fell into UMNO's trap. Hadi is not stupid. He is smart but he is also a politician with huge ego and ambition.

Don't forget that there are many ultras with similar believe to Umno in PAS. It depends on who's in control. Should the ultras take control of the party, there's no telling that they will merge with Umno. That's why it's dangerous to have PAS becoming the dominant party in PR coalition. My advise is not to get too comfortable with them.

He is a Malay-centric nationalist, period.

For him, bangsa, agama & negara r the set order of his believe. Islam? When on head-on crash with the interest of bangsa, Islam takes second place.

Tok Guru Nik Aziz - a true man of god. He is as fallible as u & me. For him, Islam is above everything else. For that HE is a 1st class principled man.

Those who forget history are bound to repeat its mistakes.....many may have forgotten that in Penang in 1969, the Gerakan was an opposition party......& it won the State election. Later it joined to form the Unity government as well & became Barisan Nasional...so you see the Unity government is nothing new. It is a revamp of the old Barisan. 40 years on what has Gerakan done for the rakyat by being in the "Unity" government ??????? only each person can answer that question for himself.

Words,words,words
We can't live without it,
We are trapped by it.

"Unity government" seemed to be associated with PAS going alone with UMNO but in truth it is Pakatan Rakyat that is forming a unity government with BN.The proposal has great merit. This means ministrial position can come from both sides. This is to help the nation get out of the current difficulties.

I don't see how Najib could swing it amongst his BN colleagues. BN had been "brought" up to believe in serving oneself before anyone else and fighting for your turf, tooth and nail, had always been its political philosophy and value.

I would be suspicious of the whole set up mainly because it was umno who first approached pas to set up an alliance APART from PR. But Hadi turned it around to the unity government. There is a saying in chinese that when you try to ride a tiger more than likely you will be lunch for the tiger.

Nik's caution should be heeded.

maisur,

Perhaps we are stupid & Hadi Awang and you are the clever ones. However, here are some "stupid" questions for u to answer:

1. If the "unity" govt. is to include all political parties, how come only UMNO & PAS are at the negotiating table without the other parties?

2. We all know UMNO speaks for BN & the other BN parties are just lap dogs but I don't recall PAS speaking for PR. Pls let us know when PR nominated PAS to negotiate for it to be in "unity" govt?

After u have answered the above, then pls answer the "intelligent" question below:

Will "divine" unite with "evil" to form "good"?

It is generally accepted that the Ulama group in PAS supports dialogue/unity with UMNO while the so-called Erdrogan group is opposed to any kind of cooperation with UMNO.

It has also been said that the ulama group is the more holy or pious group.

By endorsing any kind of cooperation with UMNO, the ulama group is effectively...

1. endorsing racial segregation, which is forbidden in Islam, and
2. accepting the institutionalised corruption rife in UMNO/BN, which is supposed to be anathema in Islam.

That leads me to ask... which is the truly religious group in PAS?

Or have I totally misunderstood the basic tenets of Islam?

We probably must be stupid because we don't even know what's a MUZAKARAH let alone heard of it. I hope clever people like Maisur will come to our rescue.
But what we do know is certain elements of PAS betrayed our votes by talking to UMNO to form a unity govt. It's clear UMNO wants to strengthen their weakened position to perpetuate their rule in the name of Ketuanaan Melayu and NEP. And all of us knows damn well what kind of governance they have. Why do you pious PAS people want to get mixed up with evil people? We are non muslims PAS supporters and we are just beginning to warm up to PAS but we are now feeling betrayed. Unity govt? Haven't you learnt your lessons from your unity with UMNO in the 70s? Look at Gerakan, ever since unifying with BN what have they become? They are just a pathetic bunch ridden roughshod by UMNO, even their president's picture is torn up by a mere division leader. You want to end up like them?

For one, he looked to me like a pious religious man but he is not.

jan,
hasan ali was wrong for trying to form PAS-UMNO unity government in selangor. but look...PAS is not a "one-man party" or "fathers and sons party". every ideas has to go through the AJK PAS pusat then to Majlis Syura before any decision can be made. thats why the mooted idea were killed before it materialised. same thing hapened in perak. buy sayang seribu kali sayang, it was not PAS who formed the "unity/friendly or whatever you want to call" government in perak... and you DAP/PKR people have no idea how much goodwill and trust you lost from the 1 million plus PAS members and few other millions PAS supporters. it will take a long time to regain that trust. if you value us PAS supporters never ever pull a good government down like this. perhaps, the scar is still quite painful in most of the delegates mind...and chose not to trust anyone associated with you DAP/PKR. i am afraid come GE13, PKR will loose big time to BN if PAS members decide to abstain from voting. and without PKR and PAS...DAP is nothing.

My initial reaction was one of shock and disappointment of a PAS leader that had so quickly forgotten that PR is now a viable replacement of BN - with all races coming together to vote PR.

When I had the time to sip my coffee and try to think like Hadi ... I realised it is a political strategy. My reasons ....

1. PAS is the smallest coalition in PR
2. PAS wants to sit in the PM position, even though they are the smallest group. They got away with that in Perak .... why not in the Federal government? I have no problem with PAS man on the PM position, if he is Malaysian at heart and not only for one race. Someone like YB Nizar would be great and Hadi definitely 'no way!'
3. This is also a veiled threat by Hadi to the other PR component parties for more seats for PAS in next GE. Otherwise, PAS will go with UMNO. This is a trying relationship .... it's like a girl-friend still going out with ex-boyfriend (UMNO). How would you (Hadi)like that?

I think PR really need to strategize quickly and sit down and talk. Don;t let this fester too long as next GE will be here in 20-22 months time.

All the best to PR and long live Tok Guru Nik!

Not only that, BN used these 3 traitors and manipulated the state constitution to grab power from Pakatan. So it's not DAP or Pakatan that caused the Perak crisis.
