(Bernama) - Chinese companies may be asked to participate in the completion of the double-tracking rail system in the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

In a question-and-answer session at the one-day Malaysia-China Business Forum here today, he said he had touched on the issue of Chinese companies taking part in infrastructure projects in Malaysia during his discussions with Chinese premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday.

He said a Chinese company would be involved in the construction of the second Penang Bridge while another would take the majority share in a joint venture related to the expansion of the Mengkuang Dam in Penang.

Najib also said that Chinese companies would be considered for the energy sector in Sarawak related to the Bakun Dam and they would also be invited for the expansion of Malaysia's information and communications technology sector.

Earlier, China's Vice-Premier Hui Liangyu said in his welcoming remarks that the way forward for China and Malaysia in the current economic downturn was to strengthen their economic cooperation.

There are a lot of areas that the business communities of both countries could collaborate for a better future, he said.

Hui said he took note of Malaysia's Vision 2020 and that China too had a similar timeframe to further uplift its development for the benefit of its people.

Later Najib witnessed an exchange of documents of 16 memoranda of understanding between Malaysian and Chinese companies and organisations.

They include INS Bioscience Bhd, which exchanged documents with two parties, the first with Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceutical Co Ltd to manufacture halal insulin, and the second with a partner in Dalian to manufacture bio-fertilisers.

Jia Yu Home Entertainment Sdn Bhd, which is a collaboration with MDeC, signed an agreement with the Nanning and Chengsa TV stations to undertake joint production of the 2010 Chinese New Year "live" broadcast.

CIMB Bank Bhd exchanged documents with Yingkou Co Ltd to complete a 19.99% acquisition of Bank of Yingkou while SP Setia Bhd will team up with Hangzhou Ju Shen Construction Engineering Ltd to develop a piece of land measuring about 12 hectares in Xiao Shan in Zhejiang province.

Another MoU involving property development is related to Dutaland Bhd's joint venture with the BODA Group to develop a 1.3 ha piece of land in Shijiazhuang, a provincial capital within the Beijing-Tianjin area.

Dibena Enterprise Sdn Bhd signed two MoUs, one with Becom Software Co Ltd to undertake a joint venture in smart student cards in Malaysia, and with Beijing Risbo Networking Technology Co Ltd to collaborate in wired and wireless networks in Malaysia and China.

China's Huawei Technologies signed two MoUs, one with Technology Park Malaysia in human capital development for the telecommunications industry, and another with Universiti Teknikal MARA for the same purpose.

Other MoUs include Lion Blast Furnace Sdn Bhd with EXIM Bank China to finance a blast furnace project; Danga Bay Sdn Bhd with Beijing School of Foreign Languages to develop an educational institution in Iskandar Malaysia; Sunzen Biotech Bhd with Regalplus (Beijing) Investment Consultant Co Ltd to supply animal feed additives made from biotechnology; Acacia Cellulose International Sdn Bhd with China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation to construct a pulp and paper mill.

Bell Corporation Sdn Bhd and Oriental Children Care Green Product Development Co Ltd on marketing personal care products; and Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade to jointly promote trade and human resource training.

I had to laugh when I read this, other option was to cry.

I told my wife just the other day Najib went to China to see what "business" he could drum up, which means he is eagerly looking for projects that will be easy to get his "commision" from before he get sbooted out of government.

Can read this guy like a book.

The double-tracking project was initially awarded to India Railways (IRC) and China Railways (CRCC) but was taken back and re-awarded to Gamuda-MMC by the former PM. One was to take the Northern section and the other the Southern section, starting from Kuala Lumpur.

In the original form, IRC and CRCC were main contractors, and Gamuda and MMC were sub-contractors. When the project was re-awarded to Gamuda-MMC, they asked IRC and CRCC to become their sub-contractors instead. IRC and CRCC were asked to reduce their price if they wanted to continue to work on the project. Of course, they pulled out.

It is ironic that a Chinese company was awarded a contract in the first place, had the contract taken back, relegated from main contractor to sub-contractor and pulled out of the project, and now Malaysia wants to ask Chinese companies to participate in the double-tracking project again.

WHATEVER PROJECT THAT OUR GOMEN OR GOMEN LINKED COMPANIES ARE DOING WITH CHINA. WE HAVE TO WATCH ON THE COST. AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S THE TAXPAYER MONIES THAT WILL BE NEEDED TO REPAY THESE CHINESE LOAN. SO, MAKE SURE THE CORRUPTOR DON'T POCKET THE MONEY NOW AND THE RAKYAT ( TAX PAYER ) HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.

China is the right place to go these days for finance and investment. The other place may be the Middle Eat oil rich states.

Even the Tim Geitner has to go to Beijing to beg the Chinese to buy more US treasuries so that Barack Obama can go on financing the recovery from the financial crisis.

At least Najib has gone to the right place for once!

In Japan, even the very arrogant Japanese papers are writing about the arrival of the Red Vultures Funds buying up all the key Japanese assets, worrying the Japanese to death, but many are resigning to the fact that over the long term, Japan will become a subordinate nation to China due to the sheer size of the country and market.

Only the monkeys in Malaysia who have no idea the relative sizes of the economic strengths between China, India, Japan versus Malaysia will insist on dealing at par with China, a country where even USA, the most powerful nation on earth go begging for money!

I thought in the eyes of those bigoted umno morons, all Chinese are communists and pendatang and they are here in 'their reserved land' to 'tumpang' and to snatch all opportunities due to the laziness of the morons who only sit below the trees and count the clock needle until the bulls and cows come home!

Why go as far to China and beg for their patronage of the local projects? The locals are all useless including Gamuda also cannot perform? Or because the Chinamen have loads of gold which our PM was so impressed of the glittering metals and just cannot resist the temptation?!

It's ok if the local Chinese are being treated like alien despite they are indigenous Malaysian, and they extend their feelers to the real alien Chinese. It only proves that those morons are actually envying for money! Whoever have money, they will be the boss and they can anytime lick the boots of the filthy rich Chinese! That's all because they have money maaah!

Since already some most idiotic bigoted morons have condemned so much about communists and its communists colonialism and wish to shackle all communist supporters or sympathizers with ISA, the ones who welcome communists into this Nation of ours to make money out of the local projects, shouldn't he or they be considered as the communist supporters, and what say you, the idiotic goons, should you nerds also bark at Him now and suggest ISA for his necklace?!....
