The Tale (Hair) of 2 leaders PDF Print

Here is an example of 2 leaders who address problems of the Indian community.

I couldn't help but take a bite at NST's 2 page news which had Dato'Seri Samy Vellu who was online with over 400 NST readers who asked him myriads of questions. Among the most prominent issues on the topic was whether his hair was planted or are they real hair.

I was laughing out loud to see the former Minister and Defender of MIC and life-long President again and again counter-attacking the people who questioned him. He just stopped short of calling them names but remarked rudely when readers questioned him on his policies and his "proven" track record. He even exclaimws "they have an affected mind ...." and laments that Indians have not understood his sacrifices and do not know about politics and how MIC works.

Samy Vellu may be smart and may not be bullied by the readers of NST, but everyone who knows how he replies even to journalists and other politicians will definitely smirk at the interview. His claims are also deplorable for a Minister cum Hero 'MGR' style who wants to champion the rights of Indians.

This entire Q&A became a joke as he explained at length how he went for surgery in Australia to realign the bald spots on his head to cover his head with natural hair. He was even proud to say that this sacrifice made the stewardess in the flight back scream seeing the amount of stiches on his head.

Let's look at another leader who has less hair on his head but also champions the Indians.

P. Uthayakumar refrained from shaving or combing his hair for 514 days while he languished in ISA. A lawyer by profession and educated in London. There was no need for any sacrifice nor to stand up against the authorities. Uthaya could have lived a luxurious life if he had wanted to.

While Samy Vellu claims to have done extensive studies on Indian Issues and has the power to form Institutes overnight and solve the community problems, over a period of 30 years nothing has been done and the community is still in shambles. Does Samy Vellu not understand this or is his skull too thick and arrogant to face the truth.

Uthaya on the other hand, only relied on newspaper clippings of the Indian community that were published in the Mainstream Media to create public awareness and address these issues (which is the reason authorities were unable to nail him for sedition; all info for his talks were taken from newspaper clippings). Uthaya is willing to go the extra mile to help ease the situation faced by the community.

While at the same time our Dato' Seri claims to have spoken to Tun Mahatir for 29 years and sworn to secrecy not to reveal them.

Indians are waiting for a saviour and it's definitely not going to be Samy Vellu. People like Uthaya and many other heroes like him who are silently working and helping the community will be glorified in time to come whereas Samy Vellu's defeat in the 2008 election was celebrated with aplomp by the Indian community akin to the Deepavali celebrations - Narakasura's Demise (that's how deep the resentment of Indians is towards Samy Vellu).

Not to be mention all the fracas, thuggery, Scandals and even Maika Scams which left thousands of Indians hurt in their hearts and their wallets. Samy Vellu had better start explaining all this and come clean to Indians and admit their grievences.

If he does not do that now, a hundred Uthayas will spring forth in time to come to address these issues. It's nothing new to know that the Indian community has the most number of NGOs helping them directly or Indirectly due to MIC's failure.

To all Indians,

Stay away from MIC for the sake of the Indian community. If Vell Paari becomes VP, it is only time when he becomes the President. If that happens, the Indians will suffer another 30 years of slavery and what little money is left in the coffers will disappear.

Vell Paari comes into the VP position as a murderer. A murderer is capable of doing anything to another human being for his own gains. Get rid of him or get rid of MIC for good.

What matters is not the heroics of the leaders but the place to which they will lead their followers.

The Indians as a community may gain sympathy support from the other communities but cannot expect all the wrongs of the past to be righted overnight. There are some things that can only be done by the federal government.

If Uthayakumar thinks the best way forward for Indians is to negotiate on a racial basis with the BN government, he is in for a devastating shock. No doubt the MIC failed the Indians because the leaders stole what was meant for the people. But whatever quota allocation he can negotiate will never be enough to address the needs of the hard-core poor Indians.

If Uthayakumar is only thinking of tomorrow, he may gain some success. But if he wants to think about next year, about the future of our grandchildren, then he has to embrace multi-racial politics.

By all means, shun DAP and PKR as much as you shun MIC. But at least, become the champion of all the marginalised and neglected Malaysians, irrespective of race. Maybe join hands with Dr Jeyakumar. Negotiate on equal terms with the Pakatan Rakyat. And stay away from the sinking ship called BN.

well that's all good, but i want to know, should hindraf be a political party, would they be taking off where mic left it? ie champion of 'indian' rights? how do you see hindraf fitting into the new malaysia that PR is promoting? (that is assuming they want to join PR). i think hindraf should have a wider scope and objectives and should not confine itself only to the indian community. do not make the same mistake as MIC / MCA / UMNO.

Sami uses his 'mandor' attitude towards his MIC members, but he can't weld his mandor stick at the many self-respecting Indians. But for those in MIC have hardly any self-respect left in them after all the 'Mandor's' abusive words used on them.Amazing, how one does not care of their self-respect when some 'bones'(money) are thrown to them.It will be rather crude for me to say that some will even trade their wife for Sami's goodwill!!!

HE IS STILL REBRANDING HIMSELF FROM HEAD TO TOE. BUT IS STILL THE SAME WHEN IT COMES TO LICKING FOR SCRAPS. HE WILL SELL THE WHOLE COMMUNITY JUST TO FEED HIS FAT EGO.
