MCA and PAS agree that fresh polls in Perak are necessary PDF Print

(The Malaysian Insider) - A meeting between MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and PAS vice president Datuk Husam Musa has led to a consensus that fresh polls are the way forward to form a stable government in Perak.

The meeting between the two leaders is one of several across the political divide that was announced by Husam on Saturday. Others will be with Umno stalwart Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and some Gerakan leaders who, like Chua, said a dissolution of the assembly is the only way out of the impasse.

PAS’s stand on the matter, that the government should be decided by Perakians, has been made clear since the February 5 putsch by Barisan Nasional (BN).

Dr Chua confirmed in a statement today that he was of the same opinion as Husam in the meeting where he was accompanied by his son, Labis MP Chua Tee Yong and MCA central committee member Loh Seng Kok.

“I conveyed to Husam that if the court decides that Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin is the rightful mentri besar of Perak, then he should convene an emergency state assembly to see whether he enjoys the support of the majority of the state assemblyman.

“If he fails to command the majority of the assemblyman, then he should seek an audience with the Sultan to resign as the MB and let the party who enjoys the support of the majority of state assemblymen be the MB or dissolve the assembly and call for fresh elections with the consent of the Sultan,” he said.

However, Dr Chua pointed out that whoever has a majority in the current assembly would still not be able to form a stable government.

Thus, there is “a need for a fresh state election” at “some point of time” according to the former health minister but he called for some form of co-operation between Pakatan Rakyat and BN in order to resolve the stalemate in the meantime.

Both he and Husam agreed that the protracted politicking in Perak is doing nobody any good.

Dr Chua also said that both parties in the meeting had agreed that “there is too much politicking presently.”

“The rakyat are tired of politicians. The time has come that we should move forward for the good of the nation and the rakyat.”

Every component party has voiced their thoughts on Perak issue and they all say with one resounding voice that only polls will decide, THE ONLY ONE OPPPOSING IS UMNO!!!!!!!!!

Now pray tell me, is this a democracy we live in? when zambry can get judge to decide within 5hours and it takes 8 days to appeal on their appeal? What kind of messqage is UMNO trying to send us? That rakyat is bloody brainless, stupid, morons can do anything and we will accept?

Is this what UMNO is about? bullying and forcing rakyat to accept what they say or do? where is the rakyat now? are we so intimidated till we allow ourselves to be hoodwinked by UMNO time and again? I am ashamed of the rakyat, me included!! I am ashamed as we all cower in fear of UMNO regime and as we fear we are pushed even further into the abyss!

UMNO, have the decency to call for elections in Perak!!! have some courage to see what u are about, show that u have some honor and class, dont hid ebehind law which u manipulate to yr advantage,,,come out in the open and lets see,,,KJ u talk too much want to fight us fair and square? dont be as a woman talk too much but achieve nothing

Dr. Chua SL, you have been appointed as the chief coordinator to recapture all those states that bn lost to pr. Is this a conspiracy or a systematic agenda by mca and bn to kick you out from mca and bn or rather it is a job given to to show that you are have the power or to compliment your power as the depeuty president of mca. Why not given an ameno man who all this while want to be the leader in almost everything that is seen to show the power of the party in bn.
So, be careful Dr. Chua, may be this a trap that will totally kill your political carrer. Don't let yourself be the pawn in their struggle to maintain their power. Look at T.Murugaih, what is happening to him?

MCA goons are scared stiff that they will be wiped out because of UMNO's arrogance. Pull out now before BN's doomsday.

The way I see it is that you are talking on the behalf of the Perakian so the conclusion is still to dissolved the assembly.UMNO will think of another way as you know that the 3 frogs who jump cause all the problem so let this 3 frogs die again and the by-election will be held there. In another words mean who will be the government of the state is depend on this 3 areas, right? Let BN field the 3 frogs and see what the raykay want them or not.simple right?..

There is nothing the BN & PR going to lose their 28 seat but the 3 frogs ares will decide the goverment of the state so if there is any frog jumping again then the by-election will be called again but this time the one who jump will not be allow to contest....

My advice to Najib is instead of setting a bad example and allowing the Perak stalemate affecting others states especially Negri Sembilan and Trengganu, I am praying that he will do the Islamic thing to dissolve the Perak Assemby and allow the people to make their choice. If Najib does that thing, it will be first statementely act and will augur well with the people in the long run. It will show that he and AMENO / BN are not hard up to rule any state or federal government without the consensus of the people. So if Najib truly says that he is with the people, come on then and show your statesmanship.

Why do people just talk about the fall of Perak to PR? The fact is that if BN does not know when to move their butt out where they don't belong, more constituencies/states will fall to PR! The reason is that Perakians and more and more thinking Malaysians are seeing and experiencing the strong arm tactics of UMNO.

The option left is for BN component parties to knock some senses into UMNO.

Najis think he can avoid the humiliation by not contesting Penanti....The Perakian can still humiliate BN/UMNO in Penanti by election if ALL (15'000 voters) of the Penanti voters come out and vote for Pakatan Rakyat.

The Fact is loud and clear. Perakian will vote for PR and maybe by a landslide.

Therefore UMNO do not want an election in Perak! UMNO to their eternal shame is depriving the people of their democratic right!

But it will only be a matter of time (900 days) before BN will be voted out of power in a GE!

Chua Soi Lek may be the Deputy President of MCA but he is not the official spokesperson of the MCA.

Although his views are his views and it lends support to PAS and the rest of the Perakians wanting to have the election again, Chua will be slapped again.

It's nice to see a leader able to speak without fear or favor but is this the first and the last time?

He's being given the BN coordinator for the PR states. What in the world does that mean?
