Learn one thing, fellow rakyat. Taking over state govts is NOT enough. We must aim for the FEDERAL Govt. That we will do come the next General Election. Let us all do the legwork now in preparation. That is the only way we can annihilate such power crazy corrupt officials and institutions in our beloved country.

We placed our hope on the monarchy to be royally disappointed. We place our hopes of security on our police only to be whacked on the head. We place ourselves before the judiciary expecting learned and equitable dispense of wisdom and justice only to be slammed over and over again by the gavels that supposed to be used against evil wrongdoings.

Fellow rakyat, the next General Election can be no further than 4 years away. We have to resolve to hold on together to, to remain as one, those who care for the nation, that we will rid ourselves of all of these abuses. Use these 4 years wisely in each of our own way, to create awareness, to educate, to enlighten all our folks. Help them see, hear and decide to right all the wromgs and ills of our nation.

It will be up to each of us. No more do we need to hope for others to help us. We must do our part come the next elections, and make our voices be heard through the ballot box in a most deafening manner.

That the ends justify the means?
That it is alright for me to 'cakap tak serupa bikin' if I am the leader, or the rich and powerful?
4 years will pass soon enough. PR must go back to the grassroots. They were not the state government before 308, too.
So, give the rakyat all the more reason to send them back to the corridors of power come the next elections by doing what is right, proper and decent for the man in the streets!!

This is where it gets interesting. Can lawyers look at Perak Standing Order 3 and 4 and interpret it.

Here it says what shall be done whenever there is a vacancy for Speaker. But there was no vacancy. The position was filled. So under what provision did they remove him? Did they even remove him then? Did they vote him out?

Perak Standing Order 3 and 4
3. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office
of Speaker whether as the result of a dissolution of Assembly or otherwise the
Assembly shall, as soon as a quorum is
present, proceed to elect a Speaker.

4. The procedure for the election of a
Speaker shall be as follows:
(1) Every member who wishes to propose
a member for election as Speaker shall
ascertain previously that the member is
willing to serve if elected, and shall notify
the Secretary to Assembly of his
proposal in writing at least seven days
before the meeting.
(2) A member addressing himself to the
Secretary to the Assembly, shall propose
some other member then present to the
Assembly for its Speaker. and move "That
............................................. (naming
the member) do take the Chair of this Assembly
as Speaker". The proposal shall be
seconded but no debate shall be allowed.
(3) if only one member be so proposed
and seconded as Speaker, he shall be
declared by the Secretary to the Assembly
without question put, to have been elected.
If more than one member be so proposed
and seconded the Assembly shall proceed
to elect a Speaker by ballot.

And it goes on.

The other point that seems to have been missed is that the speaker has to be a member. From this I would assume that he has to be a member of the house, i.e. a State Assemblyman. The person who was sworn in today isn’t even an elected rep. So has Perak assembly even had a legal sitting today? I very much doubt it. Which means that in 1 weeks time, all the bn seats shall be vacated, and we should see fresh election in the bn seats in Perak.

Perhaps Justice NH Chan can give us his comments on this.

I think Perak bn have created a bigger mess. Their point is weakened by them not following the Standing Orders of the Perak Legislative Assembly.

I quote some sections here

Perak Standing Order 83
( I ) Strangers shall be admitted to I
debates in the Chamber of the Assembly
under such rules as Mr.Speaker may from
time to time make.
(2) If any member takes notice that
strangers are present, the Chair shall put
forthwith the question "That strangers to
withdraw", without permitting any debate
or amendment.
(3) The Chair may, whenever be thinks
fit, may order the withdrawal of strangers from
the whole or any part of the Chamber.
(4) The Secretary to the Assembly shall
cause to be removed any unauthorised
strangers who he may see, or who may be
reported to be in any part of the Chamber
or gallery, and also any stranger who having
been admitted into any part of the chambers
or gallery, shall misconduct himself, or, shall not withdraw when strangers are directed to withdraw, while the Assembly
of any Committee of the whole Assembly
is sitting.

This was not followed. Even the Speakers instruction for the suspended reps to be removed were not followed. So no debate or amendment may proceed until this has been remedied. Hence whatever proceeded is an illegality.


Perak Standing Order 2
(3) Seats shall be allotted at the discretion of Mr. Speaker. whose decision thereon
shall be final.

This is another joke perpetuated by the Secretary who did not follow instructions of the Speaker.

The fact is that with the active participation of all levels of Government, including the Royal Household, BN has been installed as the Government. The pictures I saw are disgraceful and disgusting. Boycott the assembly for the rest of the term until GE13 comes along. Don't play along with the BN Government. Don't give it legitimacy. Don't lose your self-respect by becoming leader of the loyal opposition. Go back to the people and explain to them what had happened and who were the active players in your ouster. Tend to the flock and you will be rewarded.

In GE 13, the Pakatan Rakyat must not only win with simple majority, but the outright 2/3 majority. With such huge mandate, we will sweep clean the whole system. The Pakatan Rakyat needs our 100% support to hang on power to perform such Reformasi to our nation system.
